Acts 6
1 But, in these days, the disciples, multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Grecian Jews against the Hebrews, in that, their widows, were being overlooked in the daily ministry.
Por në ato ditë, duke u shumuar numri i dishepujve, lindi një murmuritje nga ana e Helenistëve kundër Hebrenjve, sepse vejushat e tyre po liheshin pas dore në shërbimin e përditshëm.
2 And the Twelve, calling near the throng of the disciples, said—It doth not seem, right, that, we, forsaking the word of God, should be ministering unto tables.
Atëherë të dymbëdhjetët, pasi mblodhën numrin e madh të dishepujve, thanë: “Nuk është mirë që ne të lëmë fjalën e Perëndisë për të shërbyer nëpër tryeza.
3 But look out for yourselves, brethren, seven men from among you, who can be well-attested, full of Spirit and wisdom, —whom we will appoint over this need;
Prandaj, vëllezër, kërkoni midis jush shtatë burra, me dëshmi të mirë, të mbushur me Frymën e Shenjtë dhe me urtësi, të cilëve do t’ua besojmë këtë detyrë.
4 But, we, unto prayer and unto the ministry of the word, will give constant attention.
Kurse ne do të vazhdojmë t’i kushtohemi lutjes dhe shërbesës së fjalës”.
5 And the word was pleasing in the sight of all the throng; and they selected Stephen, a man full of faith and Holy Spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenas and Nicholaus, a proselyte of Antioch;
Ky propozim u pëlqeu gjithë dishepujve. Dhe zgjodhën Stefanin, njeri plot besim dhe Frymë të Shenjtë, Filipin, Prohorin, Nikanorin, Timonin, Parmenin dhe Nikollën, një prozelit nga Antiokia.
6 Whom they set before the Apostles, and, praying, they laid upon them their hands.
I paraqitën pastaj përpara apostujve, të cilët, mbasi u lutën, vunë duart mbi ta.
7 And, the word of God, went on growing, and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem continued to multiply exceedingly; a great multitude of the priests also, were becoming obedient unto the faith.
Ndërkaq fjala e Perëndisë po përhapej, dhe numri i dishepujve po shumohej fort në Jeruzalem, edhe një numër i madh priftërinjsh i bindej besimit.
8 Now, Stephen, full of favour and power, began to do great wonders and signs among the people.
Dhe Stefani, plot besim dhe fuqi, bënte mrekulli dhe shenja të mëdha nëpër popull.
9 But there rose up certain of those out of the synagogue which is called [the synagogue] of them of Libertium and Cyrene and Alexandria, and certain of them from Cilicia and Asia, —disputing with Stephen;
Dhe disa nga sinagoga, që quhej e Libertinëve, të Kirenarëve, të Aleksandrinëve dhe të atyre të Kilikisë dhe të Azisë u ngritën që të grindeshin me Stefanin;
10 And they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking,
por nuk mund t’i bënin ballë urtësisë dhe frymës me anë të së cilës ai fliste.
11 Then, they set on men who were saying—We have heard him speaking profane things against Moses and God.
Atëherë nxitën disa njerëz të thoshnin: “Ne e kemi dëgjuar duke folur fjalë blasfemie kundër Moisiut dhe kundër Perëndisë”.
12 And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes; and, coming upon him, they caught him away, and led him into the high-council.
Edhe e ngacmuan popullin, pleqtë dhe skribët; dhe, iu sulën, e kapën dhe e çuan te sinedri.
13 And they set up false witnesses, who said—This man, ceaseth not speaking things against this holy place and the law;
Pastaj paraqitën dëshmitarë të rremë që thoshnin: “Ky njeri nuk pushon së foluri fjalë blasfemie kundër këtij vendi të shenjtë dhe kundër ligjit.
14 For we have heard him saying—This Jesus the Nazarene, will overthrow this place, and will change the customs which, Moses, delivered unto us.
E kemi dëgjuar, në fakt, duke thënë se ky Jezusi, Nazareasi, do ta rrënojë këtë vend dhe do të ndryshojë ritet që na ka dhënë Moisiu”.
15 And, looking steadfastly at him, all they who were sitting in the high-council, saw his face, as if the face of a messenger;
Dhe të gjithë ata që rrinin në sinedër i ngulën sytë në të, dhe panë fytyrën e tij posi fytyra e një engjëlli.
