2 Timothy 4

1 I adjure [thee] before God, and Christ Jesus—Who is about to be judging living and dead, —both as to his forthshining and his kingdom,

Jeg besværger dig for Guds og Kristi Jesu Åsyn, som skal dømme levende og døde, og ved hans Åbenbarelse og hans Rige:

2 Proclaim the word, take thy position—in season, out of season, —convince, rebuke, encourage, —with all long-suffering and teaching.

Prædike Ordet, vær rede i Tide og i Utide, irettesæt, straf, forman med al Langmodighed og Belæring!

3 For there will be a season—when, the healthful teaching, they will not endure, but, according to their own covetings, will, unto themselves, heap up teachers, because they have an itching ear,

Thi den Tid skal komme, da de ikke skulle fordrage den sunde Lære, men efter deres egne Begæringer tage sig selv Lærere i Hobetal, efter hvad der kildrer deres Øren,

4 And, from the truth, indeed, their ear, will they turn away, while, unto stories, they will turn themselves aside.

og de skulle vende Ørene fra Sandheden og vende sig hen til Fablerne.

5 But, thou, —be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do, the work, of an evangelist, thy ministry, completely fulfill;

Du derimod, vær ædru i alle Ting, lid ondt, gør en Evangelists Gerning, fuldbyrd din Tjeneste!

6 For, I, already, am being poured out as a drink-offering, and, the season of my release, is at hand, —

Thi jeg ofres allerede, og Tiden til mit Opbrud er for Hånden.

7 The noble contest, have I contested, the race, have I finished, the faith, have I kept:

Jeg har stridt den gode Strid, fuldkommet Løbet og bevaret Troen.

8 Henceforth, lieth by for me—the crown, of righteousness, which the Lord will render unto me in that, day, —The righteous judge, —Ye, not alone unto me, but unto all them also who have loved his forthshining.

I øvrigt henligger Retfærdighedens Krans til mig, hvilken Herren, den retfærdige Dommer, skal give mig på hin Dag, og ikke alene mig, men også alle dem, som have elsket hans Åbenbarelse.

9 Give diligence to come unto me speedily,

Gør dig Flid for at komme snart til mig;

10 For, Demas, hath forsaken me, having loved the present age, and hath journeyed unto Thessalonica; Crescens unto Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia: (aiōn g165)

thi Demas forlod mig, fordi han fik Kærlighed til den nærværende Verden, og drog til Thessalonika; Kreskens drog til Galatien, Titus til Dalmatien. (aiōn g165)

11 Luke, alone is with me. Receiving, Mark, back, bring him with thyself, for he is very useful to me for ministering;

Lukas er alene hos mig. Tag Markus og bring ham med dig; thi han er mig nyttig til Tjenesten.

12 and, Tychicus, have I sent unto Ephesus.

Men Tykikus har jeg sendt til Efesus.

13 The cloak that I left in Troas, with Carpus, when thou comest, bring; and the scrolls, especially, the parchments.

Når du kommer, da bring min Rejsekjortel med dig, som jeg lod blive i Troas hos Karpus, og Bøgerne, især dem på Pergament.

14 Alexander the coppersmith, of much baseness towards me, hath given proof, —the Lord will render unto him according to his works.—

Smeden Aleksander har gjort mig meget ondt; Herren vil betale ham efter hans Gerninger.

15 Of whom, be, thou also, on thy guard, for he hath greatly withstood our words.

For ham skal også du vogte dig; thi han stod vore Ord hårdt imod.

16 In my first defence, no man, came in to help me, but, all, forsook me, —unto them, may it not be reckoned!—

Ved mit første Forsvar kom ingen mig til Hjælp, men alle lode mig i Stikken; (gid det ikke må tilregnes dem! )

17 But, the Lord, stood by me, and empowered me, in order that, through me, the proclamation, might be fully made, and, all the nations, might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of a lion: —

Men Herren stod hos mig og styrkede mig, for at Ordets Prædiken skulde fuldbyrdes ved mig, og alle Hedningerne høre det; og jeg blev friet fra Løvens Gab.

18 The Lord will rescue me from every wicked work, and will bring me safe into his heavenly kingdom: unto whom be the glory, unto the ages of ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)

Herren vil fri mig fra al ond Gerning og frelse mig til sit himmelske Rige; ham være Æren i Evighedernes Evigheder! Amen. (aiōn g165)

20 Erastus, remained in Corinth; but, Trophimus, I left at Miletus, sick.

Erastus blev i Korinth, men Trofimmus efterlod jeg syg i Milet.

21 Give diligence to come, before winter. There salute thee—Eubulus, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and [all] the brethren.

Gør dig Flid for at komme før Vinteren! Eubulus og Pudens og Linus og Klaudia og alle Brødrene hilse dig.

22 The Lord, be with thy spirit. Favour, be with you.

Den Herre Jesus være med din Ånd! Nåden være med eder!
