2 Kings 21
1 Twelve years old, was Manasseh when he began to reign, and, fifty-five years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and the name of his mother was Hephzibah.
Manassé avait douze ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans dans Jérusalem: le nom de sa mère était Haphsiba.
2 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —after the abominable practices of the nations, whom Yahweh had dispossessed from before the sons of Israel.
Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur, selon le culte des idoles des nations que le Seigneur avait exterminées à la face des enfants d’Israël.
3 He again built the high places, which Hezekiah his father had destroyed, —and reared altars to Baal, and made a Sacred Stem, as did Ahab, king of Israel, and bowed down to all the army of the heavens, and served them.
Et il en revint à bâtir les hauts lieux qu’avait détruits Ezéchias son père, il dressa des autels à Baal; il fit planter des bois sacrés, comme avait fait Achab, roi d’Israël; il adora toute la milice du ciel, et la servit.
4 And he used to build altars in the house of Yahweh, —concerning which Yahweh had said, —In Jerusalem, will I put my Name.
Il construisit aussi des autels dans la maison du Seigneur, de laquelle le Seigneur avait dit: C’est dans Jérusalem que j’établirai mon nom.
5 And he built altars to all the army of the heavens, —in the two courts of the house of Yahweh;
Et il construisit des autels à toute la milice du ciel dans les deux parvis du temple du Seigneur.
6 and caused his son to pass through the fire, and practised hidden arts and used divination, and dealt with a familiar spirit and wizards, —he exceeded in doing the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, provoking [him] to anger;
Et il fit passer son fils par le feu, il aima les divinations, observa les augures, et établit des pythoniens et multiplia les aruspices, pour faire le mal devant le Seigneur, et l’irriter.
7 and he set the image of the Sacred Stem which he had made, —in the house, of which Yahweh had said unto David, and unto Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my Name, unto times age-abiding;
Il mit aussi l’idole du bois sacré qu’il avait planté, dans le temple du Seigneur, dont le Seigneur avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils: C’est dans ce temple, et dans Jérusalem, que j’ai choisie d’entre toutes les tribus d’Israël, que j’établirai mon nom pour jamais.
8 and I will not again let the foot of Israel wander away from the soil which I gave unto their fathers. Only if they take heed to do according to all that I have commanded them, even to the extent of all the law which, my servant Moses, commanded them.
Et je ne ferai plus que le pied d’Israël se meuve dehors de la terre que j’ai donnée à leurs pères; si cependant ils mettent à exécution tout ce que je leur ai ordonné, et la loi tout entière que leur a prescrite mon serviteur Moïse.
9 But they hearkened not, —and Manasseh led them astray to do the thing that was wicked, more than the nations which Yahweh destroyed from before the sons of Israel.
Or eux n’ont point écouté; mais ils ont été séduits par Manassé, pour faire le mal plus que les nations qu’a brisées le Seigneur à a face des enfants d’Israël.
10 Yahweh therefore spake through his servants the prophets saying—
Le Seigneur a parlé ensuite par l’entremise de ses serviteurs, les prophètes, disant:
11 Because Manasseh king of Judah hath made these abominations—hath done that which is wicked, more than all which the Amorites did who were before him, and hath caused, even Judah, to sin with his manufactured gods,
Parce que Manassé, roi de Juda, a fait ces abominations, bien plus mauvaises que tout ce qu’ont fait les Amorrhéens avant lui, et qu’il a fait pécher même Juda par ses impuretés,
12 therefore—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, Behold me! bringing in calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah, —that, whosoever heareth thereof, both his ears, will tingle;
C’est pourquoi le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël, dit ceci: Voilà que moi j’amènerai des maux sur Jérusalem et sur Juda; en sorte que quiconque les entendra, ses deux oreilles tinteront.
13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem, the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab, —and will wipe out Jerusalem, as one wipeth out a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down;
J’étendrai sur Jérusalem le cordeau de Samarie, et le poids de la maison d’Achab, et j’effacerai Jérusalem comme on a coutume d’effacer les tablettes; et en l’effaçant, je tournerai et passerai souvent le style sur sa face.
14 And will abandon the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies, —and they shall become a prey and a plunder, to all their enemies:
Et j’abandonnerai les restes de mon héritage, et je les livrerai aux mains de leurs ennemis, et ils seront un objet de ravage et de rapine pour tous ceux qui les haïssent,
15 Because they have done the thing that is wicked in mine eyes, and have become such as to provoke me to anger, —from the day when their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even until this day.
Parce qu’ils ont fait le mal devant moi, et qu’ils ont continué à m’irriter, depuis le jour que leurs pères sortirent de l’Egypte, jusqu’à ce jour.
16 Moreover also, innocent blood, did Manasseh shed in great abundance, till he had filled Jerusalem, from one end to the other, besides his committing the sins which he caused, Judah, to commit, in doing the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh.
De plus, Manassé répandit même une quantité prodigieuse de sang innocent, au point d’en remplir Jérusalem jusqu’à la bouche, outre les péchés par lesquels il fit pécher Juda, pour faire le mal devant le Seigneur.
17 Now, the rest of the story of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he committed, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
Mais le reste des actions de Manassé et tout ce qu’il a fait, et le péché qu’il a commis, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda?
18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza, —and, Amon his son, reigned, in his stead.
Et Manassé dormit avec ses pères, et il fut enseveli dans le jardin de sa maison, dans le jardin d’Oza; et Amon, son fils, régna en sa place.
19 Twenty-two years old, was Amon when he began to reign, and, two years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, his mother’s name, was Meshullemeth daughter of Haruz, of Jotbah.
Amon avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu’il commença à régner; il régna aussi deux ans à Jérusalem: le nom de sa mère était Messalémeth, fille de Harus de Jétéba.
20 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —as did Manasseh his father;
Et il fit le mal en la présence du Seigneur, comme avait fait Manassé, son père.
21 yea he walked in all the way wherein, his father, had walked, —and served the manufactured gods that, his father, had served, and bowed down to them;
Et il marcha dans toutes les voies par lesquelles avait marché son père; il servit les impuretés qu’avait servies son père, et il les adora,
22 and forsook Yahweh the God of his fathers, —and walked not in the way of Yahweh.
Et il abandonna le Seigneur Dieu de ses pères, et il ne marcha pas dans la voie du Seigneur;
23 And the servants of Amon, conspired against him, —and slew the king in his own house.
Et ses serviteurs lui dressèrent des embûches, et tuèrent le roi dans sa maison.
24 Then the people of the land smote all who had conspired against King Amon, —and the people of the land made, Josiah his son, king, in his stead.
Mais le peuple tua tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon, et ils établirent pour leur roi, Josias, son fils, en sa place.
25 Now, the rest of the story of Amon, what he did, is, it, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
Mais le reste des actions que fit Amon, n’est-il pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda?
26 And he was buried in his grave, in the garden of Uzza, —and, Josiah his son, reigned, in his stead.
On l’ensevelit en son sépulcre dans le jardin d’Oza; et Josias, son fils, régna en sa place.
