2 Kings 13

1 In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, began Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, to reign over Israel, in Samaria, [and he reigned] seventeen years.

Im dreiundzwanzigsten Jahre Jehoas', des Sohnes Ahasjahus, des Königs von Juda, ward Joahas, der Sohn Jehus, König über Israel zu Samaria und regierte siebzehn Jahre.

2 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and went after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat which he caused, Israel, to commit, he departed not therefrom.

Und er that, was Jahwe mißfiel, und folgte den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte, und ließ nicht davon.

3 Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh against Israel—and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-hadad son of Hazael, continually.

Da entbrannte der Zorn Jahwes wider Israel, und er gab sie in die Gewalt Hasaels, des Königs von Aram, und Benhadads, des Sohnes Hasaels, die ganze Zeit hindurch.

4 And Jehoahaz appeased the face of Yahweh, —and Yahweh hearkened unto him, because he had seen the oppression of Israel, for that, the king of Syria, oppressed them.

Aber Joahas besänftigte Jahwe, und Jahwe schenkte ihm Gehör, denn er sah die Bedrängnis Israels, wie sie der König von Aram bedrängte.

5 So Yahweh gave unto Israel a saviour, and they went forth from under the hand of Syria, —and the sons of Israel dwelt in their own homes, as aforetime.

Und Jahwe verlieh Israel einen Retter, so daß sie von der Obergewalt Arams frei wurden und die Israeliten in ihren Zelten wohnten, wie vorlängst.

6 Howbeit they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam which he caused, Israel, to commit, therein, they walked, —moreover also, the Sacred Stem, still stood in Samaria.

Nur ließen sie nicht von den Sünden des Hauses Jerobeams, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte; darin wandelten sie. Auch blieb die Aschera zu Samaria stehen.

7 For he had not left remaining unto Jehoahaz a people, save only fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, —for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like dust in threshing.

Denn Jahwe ließ dem Joahas nicht mehr Kriegsvolk übrig, als fünfzig Reiter, zehn Wagen und zehtausend Mann Fußvolks. Denn der König von Aram hatte sie vertilgt und wie zu Staub zermalmt.

8 Now, the rest of the story of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Joahas zu sagen ist und alles, was er ausgeführt hat, seine tapferen Thaten, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

9 So then Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, —and, Joash his son, reigned, in his stead.

Und Joahas legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn zu Samaria. Und sein Sohn Joas ward König an seiner Statt.

10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, began Jehoash son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel, in Samaria, [and he reigned] sixteen years.

Im siebenunddreißigsten Jahre Jehoas', des Königs von Juda, ward Joas, der Sohn Joahas', König über Israel zu Samaria und regierte sechzehn Jahre.

11 And he did that which was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —he turned not away from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he caused, Israel, to commit, therein, he walked.

Und er that was Jahwe mißfiel; er ließ nicht von allen Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte, sondern wandelte darin.

12 Now, the rest of the story of Joash, and all that he did, and his might, wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Joas zu sagen ist und alles, was er ausgeführt hat, und seine tapferen Thaten, wie er mit Amazia, dem König von Juda, Krieg geführt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

13 So then Joash slept with his fathers, and, Jeroboam, took his seat on his throne, —and Joash was buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel.

Und Joas legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und Jerobeam bestieg seinen Thron. Joas aber ward zu Samaria bei den Königen von Israel begraben.

14 Now, Elisha, had fallen sick of his sickness whereof he was about to die, —so then Joash king of Israel came down unto him, and wept upon his face, and said, My father! my father! The chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof!

Als aber Elisa in die Krankheit verfallen war, an der er sterben sollte, kam Joas, der König von Israel, zu ihm hinab und weinte bei ihm und sprach: Mein Vater, mein Vater! du Israels Wagen und Reiter!

15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. So he took unto him bow and arrows.

Elisa aber sprach zu ihm: Bringe einen Bogen und Pfeile! Da brachte er ihm einen Bogen und Pfeile.

16 Then said he unto the king of Israel, Let thy hand rest upon the bow. So he let his hand rest thereon. Then Elisha put his own hands upon the hands of the king;

Da sprach er zum Könige von Israel: Lege deine Hand auf den Bogen! Als er das gethan, legte Elisa seine Hände auf des Königs Hände.

17 and said—Open the lattice eastward. And he opened it. Then said Elisha—Shoot! And he shot. Then he said, —The arrow of victory by Yahweh, yea the arrow of victory over Syria, therefore shalt thou smite Syria in Aphek, till it be consumed.

Dann sprach er: Öffne das Fenster nach Osten zu! Als er es geöffnet hatte, gebot Elisa: Schieße! Da schoß er. Er aber sprach: Ein Pfeil des Sieges vor Jahwe! Ja, ein Pfeil des Sieges über Aram! Sollst du doch zu Aphek die Aramäer schlagen, bis sie vernichtet sind.

18 And he said—Take the arrows. So he took them. Then said he unto the king of Israel—Smite unto the ground. So he smote three times, and then stayed.

Sodann gebot er: Nimm die Pfeile! Er nahm sie. Da sprach er zum Könige von Israel: Schlage damit auf die Erde! Da schlug er dreimal, dann hielt er inne.

19 Then was the man of God wroth against him, and said—Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times, then, hadst thou smitten Syria, until it had been consumed; But, now, three times, shalt thou smite Syria.

Da ward der Gottesmann über ihn aufgebracht und sprach, du hättest fünf- oder sechsmal schlagen sollen, dann würdest du die Aramäer geschlagen haben, bis sie vernichtet waren; nun aber wirst du die Aramäer nur dreimal schlagen.

20 And Elisha died, and they buried him, —now, troops of Moabites, used to enter the land, at the coming in of the year;

Elisa aber starb, und man begrub ihn. Es pflegten aber in jenem Jahre die moabitischen Streifscharen ins Land einzubrechen.

21 and it came to pass, as, they, were burying a man, that, lo! they saw a troop, so they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha, —and, as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he came to life again, and rose up on his feet.

Als sie nun gerade einen Mann begraben wollten, erblickten sie plötzlich eine Streifschar. da warfen sie den Mann in Elisas Gruft und gingen davon. Als aber der Mann die Gebeine Elisas berührte, ward er wieder lebendig und stellte sich auf seine Füße.

22 And, Hazael king of Syria, had oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

Hasael aber, der König von Aram, bedrängte Israel, so lange Joahas lebte.

23 Then was Yahweh gracious unto them, and had compassion upon them, and turned unto them, for the sake of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, —and was not willing to destroy them, nor to cast them off from his presence, as yet.

Doch Jahwe erwies ihnen Gnade und erbarmte sich ihrer und wandte sich ihnen wieder zu, um seines Bundes mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob willen, und wollte ihr Verderben nicht, hatte sie auch bis dahin noch nicht von seinem Angesichte verworfen.

24 So then Hazael king of Syria died; and, Ben-hadad his son, reigned, in his stead.

Als aber Hasael, der König von Aram, gestorben, und sein Sohn Benhadad an seiner Statt König geworden war,

25 And Jehoash son of Jehoahaz again took the cities out of the hand of Ben-hadad son of Hazael, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father, in war, —three times, did Joash smite him, and recover the cities of Israel.

da entriß Joas, der Sohn Joahas', Benhadad, dem Sohne Hasaels, die Städte wieder, die dieser seinem Vater Joahas im Krieg entrissen hatte. Dreimal schlug ihn Joas und gewann so die israelitischen Städte zurück.
