2 Chronicles 29

1 And, Hezekiah, began to reign when he was twenty-five years old, and, twenty-nine years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Abijah, daughter of Zechariah.

Ο Εζεκίας εβασίλευσεν ηλικίας εικοσιπέντε ετών, και εβασίλευσεν εικοσιεννέα έτη εν Ιερουσαλήμ· το δε όνομα της μητρός αυτού ήτο Αβιά, θυγάτηρ του Ζαχαρίου.

2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —according to all that, David his father, had done.

Και έπραξε το ευθές ενώπιον Κυρίου, κατά πάντα όσα έπραξε Δαβίδ ο πατήρ αυτού.

3 He, in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of Yahweh, and repaired them.

Ούτος εν τω πρώτω έτει της βασιλείας αυτού, τον πρώτον μήνα, ήνοιξε τας θύρας του οίκου του Κυρίου και επεσκεύασεν αυτάς.

4 And he brought in the priests, and the Levites, —and gathered them together in the broadway on the east;

Και εισήγαγε τους ιερείς και τους Λευΐτας, και συνήγαγεν αυτούς εις την ανατολικήν πλατείαν,

5 and said unto them, Hear me, O Levites! Now, hallow yourselves, and hallow the house of Yahweh, God of your fathers, and take forth the impure thing out of the holy place.

και είπε προς αυτούς, Ακούσατέ μου, Λευΐται· Αγιάσθητε τώρα, και αγιάσατε τον ναόν Κυρίου του Θεού των πατέρων σας και εκβάλετε την ακαθαρσίαν εκ του αγίου τόπου.

6 For our fathers have acted unfaithfully and done the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh our God, and have forsaken him, -and have turned round their faces from the habitation of Yahweh, and have offered their backs.

Διότι οι πατέρες ημών παρηνόμησαν και έπραξαν πονηρά ενώπιον Κυρίου του Θεού ημών και εγκατέλιπον αυτόν, και απέστρεψαν τα πρόσωπα αυτών από του κατοικητηρίου του Κυρίου και έστρεψαν τα νώτα·

7 Moreover they have shut up the doors of the porch, and have quenched the lamps, and, incense, have they not burned, -and, ascending-sacrifice, have they not caused to go up in the holy place, unto the God of Israel.

και έκλεισαν τας θύρας του προνάου και έσβεσαν τους λύχνους και θυμίαμα δεν εθυμίαζον και ολοκαυτώματα δεν προσέφερον εις τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ εν τω αγίω τόπω.

8 Thus hath it come to pass, that, the wrath of Yahweh, hath been upon Judah and Jerusalem, —and he hath delivered them up as a terror and as an astonishment and as hissing, even as, ye, can see with your own eyes.

Διά τούτο η οργή του Κυρίου ήλθεν επί τον Ιούδαν και την Ιερουσαλήμ, και παρέδωκεν αυτούς εις διασποράν, εις έκστασιν και εις συριγμόν, καθώς βλέπετε με τους οφθαλμούς σας.

9 And lo! our fathers have fallen by the sword, and, our sons and our daughters and our wives, are in captivity for this.

Διότι ιδού, οι πατέρες ημών έπεσον διά μαχαίρας· και οι υιοί ημών και αι θυγατέρες ημών και αι γυναίκες ημών είναι διά τούτο εις αιχμαλωσίαν.

10 Now, is it near my heart, to solemnise a covenant unto Yahweh, God of Israel, —that he may turn from him the glow of his anger.

Τώρα λοιπόν έχω εν τη καρδία μου να κάμω διαθήκην προς τον Κύριον τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ, διά να αποστρέψη την οργήν του θυμού αυτού αφ' ημών.

11 My sons! now, do not be faulty, —for, of you, hath Yahweh made choice, to stand before him, and to wait upon him, and to be his attendants and burners of incense.

Τέκνα μου, μη πλανάσθε τώρα· διότι ο Κύριος σας εξέλεξε διά να παρίστασθε ενώπιον αυτού, να υπηρετήτε αυτόν και να ήσθε λειτουργοί αυτού και να θυμιάζητε.

12 Then arose the Levites—Mahath son of Amasai, and Joel son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites, and, of the sons of Merari, Kish son of Abdi, and Azariah son of Jehallelel, —and, of the Gershonites, Joah son of Zimmah, and Eden son of Joah;

Τότε εσηκώθησαν οι Λευΐται, Μαάθ ο υιός του Αμασαΐ και Ιωήλ ο υιός του Αζαρίου, εκ των υιών των Κααθιτών· εκ δε των υιών του Μεραρί, Κείς ο υιός του Αβδί και Αζαρίας ο υιός του Ιαλελεήλ· και εκ των Γηρσωνιτών, Ιωάχ ο υιός του Ζιμμά και Εδέν ο υιός του Ιωάχ·

13 and, of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeiel, —and, of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah, and Mattaniah;

και εκ των υιών του Ελισαφάν, Σιμρί και Ιεϊήλ· και εκ των υιών του Ασάφ, Ζαχαρίας και Ματθανίας·

14 and, of the sons of Heman, Jehiel and Shimei, —and, of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah, and Uzziel;

και εκ των υιών του Αιμάν, Ιεχιήλ και Σιμεΐ· και εκ των υιών του Ιεδουθούν, Σεμαΐας και Οζιήλ.

15 and they gathered together their brethren, who hallowed themselves, and came in according to the command of the king, in the things of Yahweh, —to purify the house of Yahweh.

Και συνήγαγον τους αδελφούς αυτών και ηγιάσθησαν και ήλθον, ως προσέταξεν ο βασιλεύς διά του λόγου του Κυρίου, να καθαρίσωσι τον οίκον του Κυρίου.

16 So the priests entered into the inner part of the house of Yahweh, to make purification, and they brought out every unclean thing which they found in the temple of Yahweh, into the court of the house of Yahweh, —where the Levites received it, to carry it forth to the Kidron ravine outside.

Και εισήλθον οι ιερείς εις το ενδότερον του οίκου του Κυρίου, διά να καθαρίσωσιν αυτόν· και εξέβαλον πάσαν την ακαθαρσίαν την ευρεθείσαν εν τω ναώ του Κυρίου, εν τη αυλή του οίκου του Κυρίου· οι δε Λευΐται λαβόντες, έφεραν έξω εις τον χείμαρρον Κέδρων.

17 And they began, on the first of the first month, to hallow, —and, on the eighth day of the month, they came to the porch of Yahweh, so they hallowed the house of Yahweh in eight days, —and, on the sixteenth day of the first month, they finished.

Και ήρχισαν να αγιάζωσι τη πρώτη του μηνός του πρώτου, και τη ογδόη ημέρα του μηνός εισήλθον εις τον πρόναον του Κυρίου. Και ηγίασαν τον οίκον του Κυρίου εν οκτώ ημέραις, και τη δεκάτη έκτη του μηνός του πρώτου ετελείωσαν.

18 Then came they in unto Hezekiah the king, and said, We have purified all the house of Yahweh, —the altar of ascending-sacrifice, and all the utensils thereof, and the table for setting in array, and all the utensils thereof.

Τότε εισήλθον προς Εζεκίαν τον βασιλέα και είπον, Εκαθαρίσαμεν όλον τον οίκον του Κυρίου και το θυσιαστήριον της ολοκαυτώσεως και πάντα τα σκεύη αυτού και την τράπεζαν της προθέσεως και πάντα τα σκεύη αυτής·

19 And, all the utensils which King Ahaz in his reign rejected when he acted unfaithfully, have we made ready and hallowed, —and, there they are, before the altar of Yahweh.

και πάντα τα σκεύη, τα οποία εμίανεν ο βασιλεύς Άχαζ επί της βασιλείας αυτού, ότε απεστάτησεν, ητοιμάσαμεν και ηγιάσαμεν· και ιδού, είναι έμπροσθεν του θυσιαστηρίου του Κυρίου.

20 So Hezekiah the king rose up early, and gathered together the rulers of the city, —and went up to the house of Yahweh.

Τότε εξηγέρθη Εζεκίας ο βασιλεύς, και συναγαγών τους άρχοντας της πόλεως, ανέβη προς τον οίκον του Κυρίου.

21 And they brought in seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven young sheep, and seven he-goats for bearing sin, for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah, —and he bade the sons of Aaron, the priests, cause them to ascend upon the altar of Yahweh.

Και έφεραν επτά μόσχους και επτά κριούς και επτά αρνία και επτά τράγους διά προσφοράν περί αμαρτίας υπέρ της βασιλείας και υπέρ του αγιαστηρίου και υπέρ του Ιούδα. Και είπε προς τους ιερείς, τους υιούς Ααρών, να προσφέρωσιν αυτά επί του θυσιαστηρίου του Κυρίου.

22 So they slaughtered the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and dashed it against the altar, —and they slaughtered the rams, and dashed the blood against the altar, and slaughtered the young sheep, and dashed the blood against the altar.

Και έσφαξαν τους μόσχους· και παραλαβόντες οι ιερείς το αίμα, ερράντισαν επί το θυσιαστήριον· ομοίως έσφαξαν τους κριούς και ερράντισαν το αίμα επί το θυσιαστήριον· και έσφαξαν τα αρνία και ερράντισαν το αίμα επί το θυσιαστήριον.

23 And they brought near the he-goats for bearing sin, before the king, and the convocation, —and they leaned their hands upon them;

Έπειτα προσήγαγον τους τράγους, διά την περί αμαρτίας προσφοράν, έμπροσθεν του βασιλέως και της συνάξεως, οι δε επέθεσαν τας χείρας αυτών επ' αυτούς·

24 and the priests slaughtered them, and sin-cleansed, with their blood, the altar, to put a propitiatory-covering over all Israel, -because, for all Israel, did the king appoint the ascending-sacrifice and the offering for bearing sin.

και έσφαξαν αυτούς οι ιερείς και ερράντισαν το αίμα αυτών περί αμαρτίας επί το θυσιαστήριον, διά να κάμωσιν εξιλέωσιν υπέρ παντός του Ισραήλ· διότι ο βασιλεύς προσέταξε το ολοκαύτωμα και την περί αμαρτίας προσφοράν υπέρ παντός του Ισραήλ.

25 And he caused the Levites to stand in the house of Yahweh, with cymbals and with harps and with lyres, by the commandment of David, and of Gad the seer of the king, and of Nathan the prophet, —for, by the hand of Yahweh, came the commandment by the hand of his prophets.

Και έστησε τους Λευΐτας εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου εν κυμβάλοις, εν ψαλτηρίοις και εν κιθάραις, κατά το πρόσταγμα του Δαβίδ και Γαδ του βλέποντος του βασιλέως και Νάθαν του προφήτου· διότι το πρόσταγμα ήτο παρά Κυρίου διά των προφητών αυτού.

26 So the Levites took their stand, with the instruments of David, and the priests, with the trumpets.

Και εστάθησαν οι Λευΐται με τα όργανα του Δαβίδ και οι ιερείς με τας σάλπιγγας.

27 And Hezekiah gave word, to cause the ascending-sacrifice to go up on the altar, —and, when the ascending-sacrifice began, the singing unto Yahweh began, and the trumpets, even under the direction of the instruments of David, king of Israel.

Και είπεν ο Εζεκίας να προσφέρωσι την ολοκαύτωσιν επί του θυσιαστηρίου. Και ότε ήρχισεν η ολοκαύτωσις, ήρχισεν ο ύμνος του Κυρίου, με τας σάλπιγγας και με τα όργανα τα διωρισμένα παρά του Δαβίδ βασιλέως του Ισραήλ.

28 And, all the convocation, were bowing themselves in prostration, and, the song, was resounding and the trumpets were blowing, -the whole, until the completing of the ascending-sacrifice.

Και προσεκύνει πάσα η σύναξις και έψαλλον οι ψαλτωδοί και οι σαλπιγκταί εσάλπιζον· όλον τούτο εξηκολούθει εωσού ετελείωσεν η ολοκαύτωσις.

29 And, when the offering was complete, the king knelt down and all who were present with him, and bowed themselves in prostration.

Και ως ετελείωσαν προσφέροντες, έκλιναν ο βασιλεύς και πάντες οι ευρεθέντες μετ' αυτού και προσεκύνησαν.

30 And Hezekiah the king and the rulers gave word to the Levites, to offer praise unto Yahweh, in the words of David, and of Asaph the seer, —so they offered praise right joyfully, and bent their heads and bowed themselves in prostration.

Και είπε προς τους Λευΐτας Εζεκίας ο βασιλεύς και οι άρχοντες να υμνώσι τον Κύριον με τους λόγους του Δαβίδ και Ασάφ του βλέποντος. Και ύμνησαν εν ευφροσύνη και κύψαντες προσεκύνησαν.

31 Then responded Hezekiah and said—Now, have ye consecrated yourselves unto Yahweh. Draw near, and bring in sacrifices and thank-offerings unto the house of Yahweh, -So the convocation brought sacrifices and thank-offerings, and, everyone of a willing heart, [brought] ascending-sacrifices.

Τότε αποκριθείς ο Εζεκίας είπε, Τώρα είσθε καθιερωμένοι εις τον Κύριον· προσέλθετε και προσφέρετε θυσίας και ευχαριστηρίους προσφοράς εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου. Και προσέφερεν η σύναξις θυσίας και ευχαριστηρίους προσφοράς, και πας πρόθυμος την καρδίαν, ολοκαυτώματα.

32 And it came to pass that, the number of ascending-sacrifices which the convocation brought, was—seventy bullocks, and a hundred rams, and two hundred young sheep, —as an ascending-sacrifice unto Yahweh, all these.

Και έγεινεν ο αριθμός των ολοκαυτωμάτων, τα οποία προσέφερεν η σύναξις, εβδομήκοντα μόσχοι, εκατόν κριοί, διακόσια αρνία· πάντα ταύτα ήσαν διά ολοκαύτωσιν προς τον Κύριον.

33 But, the hallowed beasts, were six hundred bullocks, and three thousand sheep.

Τα δε αφιερώματα ήσαν εξακόσιοι βόες και τρισχίλια πρόβατα.

34 Only, the priests, were too few, and were unable to flay all the ascending-sacrifices, —so their brethren the Levites strengthened them, until the work was complete and until the priests had hallowed themselves, for, the Levites, were more upright in heart to hallow themselves, than the priests.

Οι ιερείς όμως ήσαν ολίγοι και δεν ηδύναντο να εκδέρωσι πάντα τα ολοκαυτώματα· όθεν οι αδελφοί αυτών οι Λευΐται εβοήθησαν αυτούς, εωσού η εργασία συνετελέσθη και εωσού ηγιάσθησαν οι ιερείς· διότι οι Λευΐται εστάθησαν ευθύτεροι την καρδίαν εις το να αγιασθώσι, παρά οι ιερείς.

35 Moreover also, the ascending-sacrifices, were in abundance, with the fat portions of the peace-offerings, and with the drink-offerings to every ascending-sacrifice, -thus was established the service of the house of Yahweh.

Έτι δε τα ολοκαυτώματα ήσαν πολλά, μετά των στεάτων των ειρηνικών προσφορών, και μετά των σπονδών δι' έκαστον ολοκαύτωμα. Ούτως αποκατεστάθη η υπηρεσία του οίκου του Κυρίου.

36 And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because God had established it for the people, —for, suddenly, had the thing come about.

Και ευφράνθη ο Εζεκίας και πας ο λαός, ότι ο Θεός προδιέθεσε τον λαόν· επειδή το πράγμα έγεινεν αιφνιδίως.
