2 Chronicles 21
1 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David, —and Jehoram his son reigned in his steed.
૧યહોશાફાટ પોતાના પિતૃઓની સાથે ઊંઘી ગયો અને તેને દાઉદનગરમાં તેના પૂર્વજો સાથે દફનાવવામાં આવ્યો; તેની જગ્યાએ તેનો પુત્ર યહોરામ ગાદી પર બિરાજમાન થયો.
2 Now, he, had brethren, sons of Jehoshaphat—Azariah and Jehiel and Zechariah and Azariah, and Michael and Shephatiah, —all these, were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel,
૨યહોરામના ભાઈઓ, એટલે ઇઝરાયલના રાજા યહોશાફાટના દીકરાઓ: અઝાર્યા, યહીએલ, ઝખાર્યા, અઝાર્યા, મિખાએલ તથા શફાટયા હતા.
3 and their father gave them large presents—of silver and of gold and of precious things, with cities of defence, in Judah, —but, the kingdom, gave he unto Jehoram, for, he, was the firstborn.
૩તેઓના પિતાએ તેઓને પુષ્કળ પ્રમાણમાં સોનું, ચાંદી તથા કિંમતી વસ્તુઓ ભેટમાં આપી. તે ઉપરાંત યહૂદિયામાં કિલ્લાવાળાં નગરો પણ આપ્યાં. પણ રાજગાદી તો તેણે યહોરામને આપી હતી, કારણ કે તે જયેષ્ઠ પુત્ર હતો.
4 But, when Jehoram had arisen over the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren, with the sword, —moreover also some of the rulers of Israel.
૪હવે યહોરામ પોતાના પિતાના રાજયાસન પર બેઠો. પછી જયારે તે બળવાન થયો ત્યારે પોતાના સર્વ ભાઈઓને તથા ઇઝરાયલના કેટલાક સરદારોને તલવારથી મારી નાખ્યા.
5 Thirty-two years old, was Jehoram when he began to reign, —and, eight years, reigned he in Jerusalem.
૫જયારે યહોરામ રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો, ત્યારે તે બત્રીસ વર્ષનો હતો અને તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં આઠ વર્ષ સુધી રાજ કર્યું.
6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab, for, the daughter of Ahab, had he, to wife, —so he wrought wickedness, in the eyes of Yahweh.
૬જેમ આહાબના કુટુંબીઓએ કર્યું તેમ તે પણ ઇઝરાયલના રાજાઓના માર્ગે ચાલ્યો; તેણે આહાબની દીકરી સાથે લગ્ન કર્યું હતું; અને ઈશ્વરની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખરાબ હતું તે તેણે કર્યું.
7 Howbeit Yahweh was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he had solemnised, unto David, —and as he had promised to give unto him a lamp, and unto his sons, all the days.
૭તોપણ ઈશ્વરે દાઉદની સાથે જે કરાર કર્યો હતો અને તેને તથા તેના વંશજો તેઓનું રાજય કાયમ રાખવાનું પ્રભુએ જે વચન આપ્યું હતું તેને લીધે તે દાઉદના કુટુંબનો નાશ કરવા ઇચ્છતો ન હતો.
8 In his days, revolted the Edomites, from under the hand of Judah, —and set over themselves a king.
૮યહોરામના દિવસોમાં, અદોમે યહૂદિયાની વિરુદ્ધ બળવો કરીને પોતાના પર રાજ કરવા માટે એક બીજો રાજા નિયુક્ત કર્યો.
9 So Jehoram passed over, with his captains, and all his chariot, with him, -and it came to pass that he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites that were round about unto him, and the chariot-captains.
૯પછી યહોરામે તેના સેનાપતિઓ તથા પોતાની સાથે સર્વ રથો લઈને તેઓના પર ચઢાઈ કરી. તેણે રાત્રે ઊઠીને પોતાની આસપાસ ઘેરો કરનાર અદોમીઓને તથા રથાધિપતિઓને મારી નાખ્યા.
10 So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah—unto this day. Then, must Libnah needs revolt at the same time, from under his hand, —because he had forsaken Yahweh, the God of his fathers.
૧૦તેથી અદોમ બળવો કરીને યહૂદિયાના તાબા નીચેથી જતો રહ્યો. પછી તે જ સમયે લિબ્નાહએ પણ યહૂદિયા સામે બળવો કર્યો, કારણ કે યહોરામે તેના પિતૃઓના પ્રભુ, ઈશ્વરનો ત્યાગ કર્યો હતો.
11 He too, made high places among the mountains of Judah, —and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to be unchaste, and seduced Judah.
૧૧આ ઉપરાંત યહોરામે યહૂદિયાના પર્વતોમાં ધર્મસ્થાનો પણ બનાવ્યાં; તેણે યરુશાલેમના રહેવાસીઓની પાસે મૂર્તિપૂજા કરાવી અને યહૂદિયાના લોકોને વ્યભિચારની માર્ગે દોર્યા.
12 Then came there unto him, a writing, from Elijah the prophet, saying, —Thus, saith Yahweh, God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa, king of Judah;
૧૨એલિયા પ્રબોધક તરફથી યહોરામ ઉપર એક એવો પત્ર આવ્યો કે, “તારા પિતા દાઉદના પ્રભુ, ઈશ્વર કહે છે: તું તારા પિતા યહોશાફાટને માર્ગે કે યહૂદિયાના રાજા આસાને માર્ગે ન ચાલતાં,
13 but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to be unchaste, after the unchastities of the house of Ahab, —moreover also, thine own brethren of the house of thy father who were better than thou, hast thou slain,
૧૩ઇઝરાયલના રાજાઓને માર્ગે ચાલ્યો છે અને આહાબના કુટુંબની જેમ તેં યહૂદિયા તથા યરુશાલેમના રહેવાસીઓની પાસે વ્યભિચાર કરાવી છે અને તારા પિતાના કુટુંબનાં તારા ભાઈઓ જે તારા કરતા સારા હતા, તેઓને તેં મારી નાખ્યા છે.
14 lo! Yahweh, is about to plague, with a great plague, thy people, -and thy children and thy wives, and all thy possessions;
૧૪તે માટે, ઈશ્વર તારા લોકોને, તારાં બાળકોને, તારી પત્નીઓને તથા તારી બધી સંપત્તિ પર મોટી મરકી લાવશે.
15 also, thyself, with sore diseases, with disease of thy bowels, -until thy bowels shall fall out, by reason of the disease, in a year added to a year.
૧૫તને પોતાને આંતરડાંના રોગની ભારે બીમારી લાગુ પડશે અને એ રોગ એટલો બધો વ્યાપી જશે કે તેથી તારાં આંતરડાં બહાર આવી જશે.”
16 And Yahweh stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and the Arabians, who were under the direction of the Ethiopians;
૧૬ઈશ્વરે પલિસ્તીઓ તથા કૂશીઓની પડોશમાં રહેતા આરબોને યહોરામની વિરુદ્ધ ઉશ્કેર્યા.
17 and they came up against Judah, and forced their way into it, and carried off all the possessions that were found belonging to the house of the king, moreover also his sons and his wives, —so that there was left him never a son, save only Jehoahaz the youngest of his sons.
૧૭તેઓએ યહૂદિયા દેશ પર આક્રમણ કર્યું અને દેશમાં ઘૂસી આવ્યા. તેઓ રાજાના મહેલમાં જે સર્વ સંપત્તિ હતી તેને લૂંટી લીધી. અને તેના દીકરાઓનું તથા તેની પત્નીઓનું હરણ કર્યું. તેના દીકરાઓમાં સૌથી નાના દીકરા યહોઆહાઝ સિવાય તેને એકે દીકરો રહ્યો નહિ.
18 And, after all this, Yahweh plagued him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
૧૮આ સર્વ બનાવો બન્યા પછી, ઈશ્વરે તેને આંતરડાંનો અસાધ્ય રોગ લાગુ કર્યો.
19 And it came to pass, in a year beyond a year, even when the end of the days of two years had passed, that his bowels fell out by reason of his disease, so that he died, of, malignant disease, —and his people made him no burning, like the burning of his fathers.
૧૯કેટલોક સમય પસાર થયા પછી, એટલે બે વર્ષને અંતે, તે રોગને કારણે તેનાં આંતરડાં ખરી પડ્યાં. એવા દુઃખદાયક રોગથી તે મરણ પામ્યો. તેના લોકોએ તેના પિતૃઓને માટે જેવો દફનવિધિ કર્યો હતો, તેવો તેનો દફનવિધિ કર્યો નહિ.
20 Thirty-two years old, was he when he began to reign, and, eight years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and went his way—unregretted, and, though they buried him in the city of David, yet, not in the sepulchres of the kings.
૨૦જયારે તે રાજપદે નિયુક્ત થયો, ત્યારે તે બત્રીસ વર્ષનો હતો; તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં આઠ વર્ષ સુધી રાજ કર્યું. અને તે મૃત્યુ પામ્યો ત્યારે તે લોકોમાં અપ્રિય થઈ પડ્યો હતો. તેઓએ તેને દાઉદનગરમાં દફનાવ્યો ખરો, પણ રાજાઓની કબરોમાં નહિ.
