2 Chronicles 2

1 Then Solomon gave word to build a house for the Name of Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

Und Salomo befahl, dem Namen Jahwes einen Tempel und für ihn selbst einen Königspalast zu erbauen.

2 And Solomon numbered seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand men to hew in the mountain, —and, to oversee them, three thousand six hundred.

Und Salomo zählte 70000 Lastträger ab und 80000 Steinhauer im Gebirge und 3600 Aufseher über sie.

3 And Solomon sent unto Huram king of Tyre, saying, —As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him a house to dwell in,

Sodann sandte Salomo zu Huram, dem Könige von Tyrus, und ließ ihm sagen: Was du meinem Vater David erwiesen hast, indem du ihm Cedern sandtest, damit er sich einen Palast zu seinem Wohnsitz erbaue, das erweise auch mir.

4 lo! I, am about to build a house for the Name of Yahweh my God, to hallow unto him—to burn before him sweet incense, and for a continual setting in array, and to offer ascending-sacrifices morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the appointed feasts of Yahweh our God, -age-abiding, is this [law] for Israel.

Ich bin soeben im Begriff, dem Namen Jahwes, meines Gottes, einen Tempel zu erbauen, um ihm denselben zu weihen, wohlriechendes Räucherwerk vor ihm zu verbrennen, sowie zur regelmäßigen Darbringung der reihenweise aufgelegten Brote und zu den Brandopfern an jedem Morgen und Abend, an den Sabbathen und Neumonden und den Festen Jahwes, unseres Gottes, - solches liegt Israel für immer ob.

5 And, the house which I am about to build, [must be] great, —for great is our God, above all gods.

Und der Tempel, den ich bauen will, soll groß sein; denn unser Gott ist größer als alle Götter.

6 But who is able to build unto him a house? for, the heavens, even the heaven of heavens, cannot contain him, —who then am, I, that I should build unto him a house, though only to burn incense before him?

Wer aber wäre imstande, ihm eine Behausung zu erbauen? Denn der Himmel und die höchsten Himmel können ihn nicht fassen, und wer bin ich, daß ich ihm eine Behausung bauen sollte? - es sei denn, um vor ihm zu räuchern!

7 Now, therefore, send me a wise man, to work in gold and in silver and in bronze and in iron, and in purple and crimson and blue, and skilful to execute gravings, —with the wise men who are with me, in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom my father David did provide.

So sende mir nun einen Mann, der geschickt ist, in Gold, Silber, Erz, Eisen, rotem Purpur, karmesinfarbigem Zeug und blauem Purpur zu arbeiten, und der sich auf das Eingravieren von Bildwerk versteht, im Verein mit den Künstlern, die mir in Juda und Jerusalem zur Verfügung stehen, die mein Vater David beschafft hat.

8 And send me—timbers of cedar, cypress and sandal-wood, out of the Lebanon, for, I, know that, thy servants, are skilful, to cut the timbers of Lebanon, —and lo! my servants shall be with thy servants:

Sende mir auch Cedernbalken, Cypressen und Sandelholz vom Libanon; denn ich weiß, daß sich deine Leute darauf verstehen, Bauholz auf dem Libanon zu hauen, und meine Leute stehen zur Unterstützung der deinigen bereit.

9 yea to prepare me timbers in abundance, —for, the house which I am about to build, [must be] great and most wonderful.

Und es müssen Balken in Menge für mich beschafft werden; denn das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß und außerordentlich sein.

10 And lo! for the hewers that cut the timbers, have I given wheat as food for thy servants, twenty thousand measures, and barley, twenty thousand measures, and wine, twenty thousand baths, and oil, twenty thousand baths.

Für die Holzhauer aber, die die Bäume fällen, liefere ich zur Beköstigung deiner Leute 20000 Kor Weizen und 20000 Kor Gerste, 20000 Bath Wein und 20000 Bath Öl.

11 Then answered Huram king of Tyre, in writing, which he sent unto Solomon, —Because Yahweh hath loved his people, hath he set thee over them as king.

Huram aber, der König von Tyrus, antwortete in einem Brief und sandte an Salomo die Botschaft: Weil Jahwe sein Volk lieb hat, hat er dich zum König über sie gesetzt.

12 And Huram said, Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth, —who hath given, unto David the king, a wise son, skilled in prudence and understanding, who will build a house for Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

Und Huram sprach: Gepriesen sei Jahwe, der Gott Israels, der den Himmel und die Erde gemacht hat, daß er dem Könige Davis einen weisen Sohn gegeben hat, der sich auf Klugheit und Einsicht versteht, um Jahwe einen Tempel und sich einen Königspalast zu erbauen.

13 Now, therefore, have I sent a wise man, skilled in understanding, pertaining to Huram my father:

Und nun sende ich dir einen kunstverständigen, einsichtigen Mann, Huram Abi,

14 son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, whose father was a man of Tyre, skilled to work in gold and in silver, in bronze, in iron, in stones and in timber, in purple, in blue and in fine white linen, and in crimson, and to grave any manner of graving, and to devise any manner of device that may be given to him, with thy wise men, and the wise men of my lord David thy father.

den Sohn eines danitischen Weibes, der einen Tyrier zum Vater hat. Er versteht sich darauf, in Gold, Silber, Erz, Eisen und Steinen, sowie in Holz, rotem und blauem Purpur, Byssus und karmesinfarbigem Zeuge zu arbeiten, jede Art von Bildwerk einzugravieren und allerlei Kunstwerke, die ihm etwa aufgetragen werden, auszuführen, im Verein mit deinen Künstlern und den Künstlern meines Herrn David, deines Vaters.

15 Now, therefore, the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, whereof my lord hath spoken, let him send unto his servants;

So möge denn nun mein Herr den Weizen, die Gerste, das Öl und den Wein, von dem er gesprochen hat, seinen Knechten senden.

16 and, we, will cut down timbers out of the Lebanon, according to all thy need, and will bring them unto thee in floats, upon the sea to Joppa, —and, thou, shalt fetch them up to Jerusalem.

Wir aber wollen Bäume auf dem Libanon fällen, soviel du irgend bedarfst, und wollen sie dir als Flöße auf dem Meer nach Japho bringen; du aber magst sie dann hinauf nach Jerusalem schaffen.

17 So Solomon numbered all the men that were sojourners, who were in the land of Israel, after the numbering, wherewith David his father had numbered them, —and they were found to be—a hundred and fifty-three thousand and six hundred.

Und Salomo zählte alle die Fremdlinge, die im Lande Israel wohnten, nach der Zählung, bei der sie sein Vater David gezählt hatte; da fanden sich 153600.

18 And he made up from among them—seventy thousand, to bear burdens, and eighty thousand to hew in the mountain, —and three thousand and six hundred, as overseers, to keep the people at work.

Von diesen machte er 70000 zu Lastträgern, 80000 zu Steinhauern im Gebirge und 3600 zu Aufsehern, damit sie die Leute zur Fronarbeit anhielten.
