2 Chronicles 15
1 Now, as for Azariah son of Oded, there came upon him, the spirit of God.
Da nun kam der Geist Gottes über Asarja, den Sohn Obeds,
2 So he went forth to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear me, O Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin, —Yahweh, is with you, so long as ye are with him, and, if ye seek him, he will be found of you, but, if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
und er ging hinaus, trat vor Asa und sprach zu ihm: Hört mich, Asa und ihr Judäer und Benjaminiten insgesamt! Jahwe ist mit euch, wenn ihr zu ihm haltet! Wenn ihr ihn sucht, so wird er sich von euch finden lassen; wenn ihr ihn aber verlaßt, so wird er euch auch verlassen!
3 Now, many days, had Israel been, —without the faithful God, and without a teaching priest, and without the law;
Aber lange Zeit war Israel ohne den wahren Gott, ohne Priester, die es belehrten, und ohne Gesetz.
4 But they turned, in their distress, unto Yahweh God of Israel, —and sought him, and he was found of them.
Dann aber bekehrte es sich in seiner Not zu Jahwe, dem Gott Israels; und da sie ihn suchten, ließ er sich von ihnen finden.
5 And, in those times, there had been no prosperity, to him that went out nor to him that came in, —for, great consternations, were upon all the inhabitants of the lands;
In jenen Zeiten aber gab es keine Sicherheit für die Aus- und Eingehenden, vielmehr lastete auf allen Bewohnern dieser Landstriche große Beunruhigung.
6 and they were beaten in pieces-nation against nation, and city against city, —for, God, discomfited them with all manner of distress.
Ein Volk wurde gehen das andere gestoßen und eine Stadt gegen die andere, denn Gott beunruhigte sie durch allerlei Trübsal.
7 Ye, therefore, be strong, and let not your hands be slack, —for there is a reward for your work!
Ihr aber, seid mutig und laßt eure Hände nicht sinken, denn euer Thun wird seinen Lohn finden!
8 And, when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he strengthened himself, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had captured out of the hill country of Ephraim, —and renewed the altar of Yahweh, that was before the porch of Yahweh.
Als nun Asa diese Worte und die Weissagung vernahm, da ermannte er sich und schaffte aus dem ganzen Lande Juda und Benjamin und den Städten, die er auf dem Gebirge Ephraim erobert hatte, die Scheusale hinweg und erneuerte den Jahwealtar, der vor der Vorhalle Jahwes stand.
9 And he gathered together all Judah and Benjamin, and the sojourners with them, out of Ephraim and out of Manasseh, and out of Simeon, —for they fell unto him out of Israel, in great numbers, because they saw that, Yahweh his God, was with him.
Sodann versammelte er ganz Juda und Benjamin und diejenigen aus Ephraim, Manasse und Simeon, die als Fremdlinge bei ihnen weilten; denn es waren aus Israel eine Menge Leute zu ihm übergegangen, da sie sahen, daß Jahwe, sein Gott, mit ihm war.
10 So they gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem, in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
Und sie versammelten sich zu Jerusalem im dritten Monat des fünfzehnten Jahres der Regierung Asas
11 And they sacrificed unto Yahweh, on that day, out of the spoil they had brought in, —oxen, seven hundred, and sheep, seven thousand.
und schlachteten Jahwe an jenem Tage von der Beute, die sie heimgebracht hatten, siebenhundert Rinder und siebentausend Schafe.
12 And they entered into a covenant, to seek Yahweh, God of their fathers, —with all their heart, and with all their soul;
Und sie verpflichteten sich feierlich, sich von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele an Jahwe, den Gott ihrer Väter, halten zu wollen;
13 and, whosoever would not seek unto Yahweh God of Israel, should be put to death, —whether small or great, whether man or woman.
und wer irgend sich nicht an Jahwe, den Gott Israels, halten würde, der sollte getötet werden, er sei klein oder groß, Mann oder Weib.
14 So they bound themselves by oath unto Yahweh, with a loud voice, and with shouting, —and with trumpets and with horns.
Und so schwuren sie Jahwe mit lauter Stimme und jauchzendem Ruf unter Trompeten- und Posaunenschall.
15 And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for, with all their heart, had they sworn, and, with all their good will, had they sought him, and he was found of them, —and Yahweh gave them rest round about.
Und ganz Juda war voller Freude über den Schwur; denn sie hatten von ganzem Herzen geschworen und ihn mit aufrichtigem Verlangen gesucht, und so ließ sich Jahwe von ihnen finden und verschaffte ihnen ringsumher Ruhe.
16 Moreover also, as touching Maacah mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made, unto the Sacred Stem, a monstrous thing, —so Asa cut down her monstrous thing, and reduced it to dust, and burnt it up, in the Kidron ravine.
Ja, er setzte sogar Maacha, die Mutter des Königs Asa, von der Würde als Herrin ab, weil sie der Aschera ein Schandbild angefertigt hatte. Und Asa hieb ihr Schandbild um, zermalmte es und verbrannte es im Kidronthale.
17 But, the high places, were not taken away out of Israel, —only, the heart of Asa, was perfect, all his days.
Die Höhen wurden zwar in Israel nicht abgeschafft, doch war das Herz Asas ungeteilt sein Leben lang.
18 And he brought the hallowed things of his father and his own hallowed things, into the house of God, —silver and gold, and utensils.
Auch ließ er, was sein Vater geweiht hatte, sowie seine eigenen Weihgeschenke in den Tempel Gottes bringen - Silber, Gold und Geräte.
19 And, war, was there none, —until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.
Und es war kein Krieg bis zum fünfunddreißigsten Jahre der Regierung Asas.
