< 1 Samuel 8 >

1 And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he appointed his sons judges to Israel;
Nígbà tí Samuẹli di arúgbó, ó yan àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí adájọ́ fún Israẹli.
2 and the name of his firstborn son was, Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah, —they were judges in Beer-sheba.
Orúkọ àkọ́bí rẹ̀ a máa jẹ́ Joẹli àti orúkọ èkejì a máa jẹ́ Abijah, wọ́n ṣe ìdájọ́ ní Beerṣeba.
3 Howbeit his sons walked not in his ways, but stooped to extortion, —and took bribes, and perverted judgment.
Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀, kò rìn ní ọ̀nà rẹ̀. Wọ́n yípadà sí èrè àìṣòótọ́, wọ́n gba àbẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀, wọ́n sì ń yí ìdájọ́ po.
4 So then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, —and came unto Samuel, to Ramah;
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, gbogbo àwọn àgbàgbà ti Israẹli péjọpọ̀, wọ́n sì wá sọ́dọ̀ Samuẹli ní Rama.
5 and said unto him—Lo! thou, art old, and, thy sons, walk not in thy ways: Now, appoint for us a king to judge us, like all the nations.
Wọ́n wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ ti di arúgbó, àwọn ọmọ rẹ kò sì rìn ní ọ̀nà rẹ, nísinsin yìí, yan ọba fún wa kí ó lè máa darí wa gẹ́gẹ́ bí i tí gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè.”
6 But the thing was displeasing in the eyes of Samuel, when they said, Give unto us a king to judge us. So Samuel prayed unto Yahweh.
Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí wọ́n wí pé, “Fún wa ní ọba tí yóò darí wa,” èyí kò tẹ́ Samuẹli lọ́rùn, ó sì gbàdúrà sí Olúwa.
7 And Yahweh said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people, in all that they shall say unto thee, —for, not thee, have they rejected, but, me, have they rejected, from being king over them.
Olúwa sì sọ fún Samuẹli pé, “Gbọ́ ohùn àwọn ènìyàn náà, ní gbogbo èyí tí wọ́n sọ fún ọ; nítorí kì í ṣe ìwọ ni wọ́n kọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n èmi ni wọ́n kọ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọba lórí wọn.
8 According to all the doings which they have done, from the day I brought them up out of Egypt, even until this day, in that they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so, are they doing even unto thee.
Gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti ṣe ní ọjọ́ tí mo mú wọn jáde wá láti Ejibiti títí di ọjọ́ òní, wọ́n kọ̀ mí sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì ń sin ọlọ́run mìíràn, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n ń ṣe sí ọ.
9 Now, therefore, hearken to their voice, —save that thou, enter protest, against them, and tell them the manner of the king who will reign over them.
Nísinsin yìí, gbọ́ tiwọn; ṣùgbọ́n kìlọ̀ fún wọn dáradára, kí o sì jẹ́ kí wọ́n mọ irú ohun tí ọba tí yóò jẹ́ lórí wọn yóò ṣe.”
10 So then Samuel spake all the words of Yahweh unto the people, who were asking of him, a king.
Samuẹli sọ gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa sí àwọn ọmọ ènìyàn tí ó ń béèrè fún ọba lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀.
11 And he said, This, will be the manner of the king who will reign over you, —Your sons, will he take and appoint for himself, as his charioteers and as his horsemen, and they shall run before his chariots;
Ó wí pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí ọba tí yóò jẹ lórí yín yóò ṣe. Yóò kó àwọn ọmọkùnrin yín, yóò sì mú wọn ṣiṣẹ́ pẹ̀lú àwọn kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun rẹ̀ àti fún ẹlẹ́ṣin rẹ, wọn yóò sì máa sáré níwájú kẹ̀kẹ́ rẹ̀.
12 and he will appoint for himself, princes of thousands, and princes of fifties, —and to plough his fields, and to reap his harvest, and to make his weapons of war, and the instruments of his chariots;
Yóò yan díẹ̀ láti jẹ́ olórí ẹgbẹẹgbẹ̀rún àti olórí àádọ́ta àti àwọn mìíràn. Yóò yan wọ́n láti máa tulẹ̀ oko rẹ̀ àti láti máa kórè rẹ̀ àti àwọn mìíràn láti máa ṣe ohun èlò ogun àti ohun èlò kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun rẹ̀.
13 And, your daughters, will he take, —as perfumers and as cooks, and as bakers;
Yóò mú àwọn ọmọbìnrin yín láti máa ṣe olùṣe ìkunra olóòórùn dídùn àti láti máa ṣe àsè àti láti máa ṣe àkàrà.
14 And, your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, the best of them, will he take, and give to his servants;
Yóò mú èyí tí ó dára jù nínú oko yín, àti nínú ọgbà àjàrà yín àti nínú igi olifi yín, yóò sì fi wọ́n fún àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀.
15 And, your seed, and your vineyards, will he tithe, and give to his courtiers and to his servants;
Yóò mú ìdásímẹ́wàá hóró ọkà yín àti àká èso àjàrà yín, yóò sì fi fún àwọn oníṣẹ́ àti ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀.
16 And, your men-servants, and your maidservants, and your oxen, even the goodliest, and your asses, will he take, —and put them to his work;
Àwọn ìránṣẹ́kùnrin àti ìránṣẹ́bìnrin yín àti èyí tí ó dára jù nínú ẹran ọ̀sìn àti àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ yín ni yóò mú fún ìlò ti ara rẹ̀.
17 Your flocks, will he tithe, —and, ye yourselves, shall become his servants.
Yóò sì mú ìdámẹ́wàá nínú àwọn agbo ẹran yín, yóò sì máa ṣe ẹrú u rẹ̀.
18 Then will ye make outcry, in that day, because of your king whom ye have chosen for yourselves, —and Yahweh will not answer you, in that day.
Tí ọjọ́ náà bá dé, ẹ̀yin yóò kígbe fún ìrànlọ́wọ́ láti ọ̀dọ̀ ọba tí ẹ̀yin ti yàn. Olúwa kò sì ní dá a yín lóhùn ní ọjọ́ náà.”
19 But the people refused to hearken unto the voice of Samuel, —and they said—Nay! but, a king, shall be over us:
Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn náà kọ̀ láti tẹ́tí sí Samuẹli wọ́n wí pé, “Rárá! A bí ìwọ fẹ́ jẹ́ ọba lórí i wa?
20 so shall, even we, become like all the nations, —and our king shall judge us, and go forth before us, and fight our battles.
Nígbà náà àwa yóò dàbí gbogbo àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè mìíràn, pẹ̀lú ọba láti darí i wa àti láti jáde lọ níwájú wa láti ja ogun wa.”
21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, —and spake them in the ears of Yahweh.
Nígbà tí Samuẹli gbọ́ gbogbo ohun tí àwọn ènìyàn sọ, ó tún tún un sọ níwájú Olúwa.
22 And Yahweh said unto Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel: Go ye, every man to his own city.
Olúwa dáhùn pé, “Tẹ́tí sí wọn, kí o sì yan ọba fún wọn.” Nígbà náà, Samuẹli sọ fún àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli pé, “Kí olúkúlùkù padà sí ìlú u rẹ̀.”
