1 Samuel 6
1 And it came to pass, that the ark of Yahweh was in the country of the Philistines, seven months.
Και ήτο η κιβωτός του Κυρίου εν τη γη των Φιλισταίων επτά μήνας.
2 Then called the Philistines for the priests and for the diviners, saying, What shall we do with the ark of Yahweh? Let us know, wherewith we shall send it to its own place.
Και έκραξαν οι Φιλισταίοι τους ιερείς και τους μάντεις, λέγοντες, Τι να κάμωμεν εις την κιβωτόν του Κυρίου; φανερώσατε εις ημάς τίνι τρόπω θέλομεν αποστείλει αυτήν εις τον τόπον αυτής.
3 And they said—If ye are going to send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it away, empty, but ye must, surely return, to him, a guilt-offering, —then, shall ye be healed, and it shall be known to you, wherefore his hand would not turn away from you.
Οι δε είπον, Εάν εξαποστείλητε την κιβωτόν του Θεού του Ισραήλ, μη αποστείλητε αυτήν κενήν· αλλά κατά πάντα τρόπον απόδοτε εις αυτόν προσφοράν περί ανομίας· τότε θέλετε ιαθή και θέλετε γνωρίσει διά τι η χειρ αυτού δεν απεσύρθη από σας.
4 And they said—What shall be the guilt-offering, that we shall return to him? And they said—By the number of the lords of the Philistines, five tumours of gold, and five mice of gold, —for, one plague, was on you all, and on your lords.
Και είπον, Ποία είναι η περί ανομίας προσφορά, την οποίαν θέλομεν αποδώσει εις αυτόν; Οι δε απεκρίθησαν, Κατά τον αριθμόν των σατραπών των Φιλισταίων, πέντε αιμορροΐδες χρυσαί και πέντε χρυσοί ποντικοί· διότι η αυτή πληγή ήτο επί πάντας υμάς και επί τους σατράπας υμών·
5 Wherefore ye shall make likenesses of your turnouts, and likenesses of your mice that are laying waste the land, and shall, give unto the, God of Israel, glory, —Peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your god, and from off your land.
διά τούτο θέλετε κάμει ομοιώματα των αιμορροΐδων σας και ομοιώματα των ποντικών σας των φθειρόντων την γήν· και θέλετε δώσει δόξαν εις τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ· ίσως ελαφρύνη την χείρα αυτού αφ' υμών και από των θεών υμών και από της γης υμών·
6 Wherefore, then, should ye make your heart dull, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh made their heart dull! When he had done his great doings upon them, did they not let them go, and they departed?
διά τι λοιπόν σκληρύνετε τας καρδίας σας, καθώς οι Αιγύπτιοι και ο Φαραώ εσκλήρυναν τας καρδίας αυτών; ότε έκαμε τεράστια εν τω μέσω αυτών, δεν αφήκαν αυτούς να υπάγωσι, και αυτοί ανεχώρησαν;
7 Now, therefore, take and get ready, one new waggon, and two milch kine, whereon hath never come yoke, —then shall ye fasten the kine in the waggon, and withdraw their calves from them, into the shed;
τώρα λοιπόν λάβετε και ετοιμάσατε μίαν άμαξαν νέαν και δύο βους θηλαζούσας, εις τας οποίας δεν επεβλήθη ζυγός, και ζεύξατε τας βους εις την άμαξαν, τους δε μόσχους αυτών επαναφέρετε απ' όπισθεν αυτών εις τον οίκον·
8 and ye shall take the ark of Yahweh, and place it in the waggon, also, the jewels of gold which ye send back to him as a guilt-offering, shall ye put into a coffer, at the side thereof, —so shall ye let it go, and it shall depart.
και λάβετε την κιβωτόν του Κυρίου και θέσατε αυτήν επί της αμάξης· και τα σκεύη τα χρυσά, τα οποία αποδίδετε εις αυτόν προσφοράν περί ανομίας, θέσατε εν κιβωτίω εις τα πλάγια αυτής· και εξαποστείλατε αυτήν να υπάγη·
9 Then shall ye look—if, by the way of its own boundary, it goeth up to Beth-shemesh, he, it was who caused us this great affliction, —but, if not, then shall we know that it was not, his hand, that smote us, a chance, it was, that befell us.
και βλέπετε, εάν αναβαίνη διά της οδού των ορίων αυτής εις Βαιθ-σεμές, αυτός έκαμεν εις ημάς το μέγα τούτο κακόν· εάν δε μη, τότε θέλομεν γνωρίσει ότι δεν επάταξεν ημάς η χειρ αυτού, αλλ' ότι τούτο εστάθη τυχαίον εις ημάς.
10 The men, therefore, did so, and took two milch kine, and fastened them in the waggon, —but, their calves, shut they up in the shed.
Και έκαμον ούτως οι άνδρες, και λαβόντες δύο βους θηλαζούσας, έζευξαν αυτάς εις την άμαξαν, τους δε μόσχους αυτών απέκλεισαν εν τω οίκω.
11 And they put the ark of Yahweh, into the waggon, —also the coffer, with the mice of gold, and the likenesses of their tumours.
Και έθεσαν την κιβωτόν του Κυρίου επί της αμάξης και το κιβώτιον μετά των χρυσών ποντικών και των ομοιωμάτων των αιμορροΐδων αυτών.
12 And the kine went straight along the road, on the way to Beth-shemesh, yea, along the main highway, they went, lowing as they went, turning not aside, to the right hand or to the left. And, the lords of the Philistines, went along after them, as far as the bounds of Beth-shemesh.
Και διευθύνθησαν αι βους εις την οδόν την εις Βαιθ-σεμές· την αυτήν οδόν εξηκολούθουν, μυκώμεναι ενώ υπήγαινον, και δεν μετεστρέφοντο δεξιά ή αριστερά· οι δε σατράπαι των Φιλισταίων επορεύοντο κατόπιν αυτών έως των ορίων της Βαιθ-σεμές.
13 Now, they of Beth-shemesh, were reaping their wheat-harvest in the vale, —so they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to meet it.
Και οι Βαιθ-σεμίται εθέριζον τον σίτον αυτών εν τη κοιλάδι και υψώσαντες τους οφθαλμούς αυτών, είδον την κιβωτόν και ιδόντες υπερεχάρησαν.
14 And, the waggon, entered into the field of Joshua, a man of Beth-shemesh, and stood still, there, where also, was a great stone, —so they clave into pieces the planks of the waggon, and, the kine, offered they up as an ascending-sacrifice, unto Yahweh.
Και εισήλθεν η άμαξα εις τον αγρόν Ιησού του Βαιθ-σεμίτου και εστάθη εκεί, όπου ήτο λίθος μέγας· και έσχισαν τα ξύλα της αμάξης, και προσέφεραν τας βους ολοκαύτωμα εις τον Κύριον.
15 And, the Levites, took down the ark of Yahweh, and the coffer that was with it, wherein were the jewels of gold, and put them upon the great stone, —and, the men of Beth-shemesh, caused to go up ascending-offerings and offered sacrifices, that day, unto Yahweh.
Και οι Λευΐται κατεβίβασαν την κιβωτόν του Κυρίου και το κιβώτιον το μετ' αυτής, το περιέχον τα χρυσά σκεύη, και έθεσαν επί του λίθου του μεγάλου· και οι άνδρες της Βαιθ-σεμές προσέφεραν ολοκαυτώματα και έθυσαν θυσίας εις τον Κύριον την αυτήν ημέραν.
16 And, the five lords of the Philistines, saw it, —and returned unto Ekron, the same day.
Και αφού οι πέντε σατράπαι των Φιλισταίων είδον, επέστρεψαν εις Ακκαρών την αυτήν ημέραν.
17 Now, these, are the golden boils which, the Philistines returned as a guilt-offering unto Yahweh, —For Ashdod, one, for Gaza, one, for Ashkelon, one, for Gath, one, for Ekron, one;
Αύται δε ήσαν αι αιμορροΐδες αι χρυσαί, τας οποίας οι Φιλισταίοι απέδωκαν προσφοράν περί ανομίας εις τον Κύριον· της Αζώτου μία, της Γάζης μία, της Ασκαλώνος μία, της Γαθ μία, της Ακκαρών μία·
18 And the golden mice, by the number of all the cities of the Philistines, pertaining to the five lords, both fortified cities, and country villages, —yea, even the great meadow whereon they rested the ark of Yahweh, until this day, is in the field-land of Joshua, the man of Beth-shemesh.
και οι ποντικοί οι χρυσοί κατά τον αριθμόν πασών των πόλεων των Φιλισταίων, των πέντε σατραπών, από πόλεων περιτετειχισμένων και κωμών απεριτειχίστων, έως μάλιστα του λίθου του μεγάλου, Αβέλ, επί του οποίου κατέθεσαν την κιβωτόν του Κυρίου· όστις σώζεται έως της ημέρας ταύτης εν τω αγρώ Ιησού του Βαιθ-σεμίτου.
19 And, when he smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they looked into the ark of Yahweh, yea smote of the people seventy men [and] fifty thousand men, the people mourned, for that Yahweh had smitten the people with a great smiting.
Και επάταξεν ο Κύριος τους άνδρας της Βαιθ-σεμές, διότι ενέβλεψαν εις την κιβωτόν του Κυρίου· και επάταξεν εκ του λαού άνδρας πεντήκοντα χιλιάδας και εβδομήκοντα· και επένθησεν ο λαός, διότι επάταξεν αυτόν ο Κύριος εν πληγή μεγάλη.
20 Then said the men of Beth-shemesh, Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? and, unto whom, shall he go up from us?
Και είπαν οι άνδρες της Βαιθ-σεμές, Τις δύναται να σταθή ενώπιον του Κυρίου, του αγίου τούτου Θεού; και προς τίνα θέλει αναβή αφ' ημών;
21 And they sent messengers unto the inhabitants of Kiriath-jearim, saying, —The Philistines have returned the ark of Yahweh, come down, fetch it up unto you.
Και απέστειλαν μηνυτάς προς τους κατοίκους της Κιριάθ ιαρείμ, λέγοντες, Οι Φιλισταίοι έφεραν οπίσω την κιβωτόν του Κυρίου· κατάβητε, αναβιβάσατε αυτήν προς εαυτούς.
