1 Samuel 23
1 Then told they David, saying, —Lo! the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are plundering the threshing-floors.
Απήγγειλαν δε προς τον Δαβίδ, λέγοντες, Ιδού, οι Φιλισταίοι πολεμούσιν εν Κεειλά και διαρπάζουσι τα αλώνια.
2 So David enquired of Yahweh, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And Yahweh said unto David—Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
Και ηρώτησεν ο Δαβίδ τον Κύριον, λέγων, Να υπάγω και να πατάξω τους Φιλισταίους τούτους; Και είπεν ο Κύριος προς τον Δαβίδ, Ύπαγε και πάταξον τους Φιλισταίους και σώσον την Κεειλά.
3 But the men of David said unto him, Lo! we, here, in Judah, are afraid, —how much more, then, if we go to Keilah, against the ranks of the Philistines?
Και είπον οι άνδρες του Δαβίδ προς αυτόν, Ιδού, ημείς ενταύθα εν τη Ιουδαία φοβούμεθα· πόσω δε μάλλον, εάν υπάγωμεν εις Κεειλά εναντίον των στρατευμάτων των Φιλισταίων;
4 So David yet again enquired if Yahweh, and Yahweh answered him, —and said—Arise, go down to Keilah, for I am about to deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
Και ηρώτησε πάλιν ο Δαβίδ εκ δευτέρου τον Κύριον. Και απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ο Κύριος και είπε, Σηκώθητι, κατάβα εις Κεειλά· διότι θέλω παραδώσει τους Φιλισταίους εις την χείρα σου.
5 David therefore went, with his men, to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and drave forth their cattle, and smote them, with a great smiting, so David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Τότε ήλθεν ο Δαβίδ και οι άνδρες αυτού εις Κεειλά, και επολέμησε προς τους Φιλισταίους και έλαβε τα κτήνη αυτών και επάταξεν αυτούς εν σφαγή μεγάλη. Και έσωσεν ο Δαβίδ τους κατοίκους της Κεειλά.
6 Now it came to pass, when Abiathar, son of Ahimelech, fled unto David to Keilah, that he came down with, an ephod, in his hand.
Ότε δε Αβιάθαρ ο υιός του Αχιμέλεχ έφυγε προς τον Δαβίδ εις Κεειλά, αυτός είχε καταβή με εφόδ εν τη χειρί αυτού.
7 And, when it was told Saul that David had entered Keilah, Saul said—God hath given him over into my hand, for he hath shut himself in by entering into a city with folding doors and bar.
Και απηγγέλθη προς τον Σαούλ ότι ήλθεν ο Δαβίδ εις Κεειλά. Και είπεν ο Σαούλ, Ο Θεός παρέδωκεν αυτόν εις την χείρα μου· διότι απεκλείσθη, εισελθών εις πόλιν έχουσαν πύλας και μοχλούς.
8 So Saul summoned all the people to war, —to go down to Keilah, to besiege David, and his men.
Και συνεκάλεσεν ο Σαούλ πάντα τον λαόν εις πόλεμον, διά να καταβή εις Κεειλά, να πολιορκήση τον Δαβίδ και τους άνδρας αυτού.
9 And David ascertained that, against him, Saul was contriving mischief, —so he said unto Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
Και έμαθεν ο Δαβίδ ότι ο Σαούλ εμηχανεύετο κακόν εναντίον αυτού· και είπε προς τον Αβιάθαρ τον ιερέα, Φέρε ενταύθα το εφόδ.
10 Then said David: O Yahweh, God of Israel, thy servant, hath heard, that Saul is seeking to come unto Keilah, —to destroy the city, for my sake:
Και είπεν ο Δαβίδ, Κύριε Θεέ του Ισραήλ, μετά βεβαιότητος ήκουσεν ο δούλός σου ότι ο Σαούλ ζητεί να έλθη εις Κεειλά, διά να εξολοθρεύση την πόλιν εξ αιτίας μου·
11 Will the owners of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Yahweh, God of Israel, I pray thee, tell thy servant. And Yahweh said—He will come down.
θέλουσι με παραδώσει εις αυτόν οι άνδρες της Κεειλά; θέλει καταβή ο Σαούλ, καθώς ήκουσεν ο δούλός σου; Κύριε Θεέ του Ισραήλ, φανέρωσον, δέομαι, προς τον δούλον σου. Και είπεν ο Κύριος, Θέλει καταβή.
12 Then said David, Will the owners of Keilah surrender me and my men, into the hand of Saul? And Yahweh said—They will surrender.
Είπε πάλιν ο Δαβίδ, Θέλουσι παραδώσει οι άνδρες της Κεειλά εμέ και τους άνδρας μου εις την χείρα του Σαούλ; Και είπεν ο Κύριος, Θέλουσι παραδώσει.
13 Then arose David and his men, about six hundred, and went forth out of Keilah, and went to and fro, whithersoever they could, —and, unto Saul, it was told that David had escaped out of Keilah, so he forbare to go forth.
Τότε ο Δαβίδ και οι άνδρες αυτού, έως εξακόσιοι, εσηκώθησαν και εξήλθον από Κεειλά και υπήγον όπου ηδύναντο. Και απηγγέλθη προς τον Σαούλ, ότι διεσώθη ο Δαβίδ από Κεειλά· όθεν απέσχε του να εξέλθη.
14 Then David abode in the wilderness, in the fortresses, and he abode in the hill country, in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him continually, but God delivered him not into his hand.
Ο δε Δαβίδ εκάθησεν εν τη ερήμω, εν τόποις οχυροίς, και έμενεν επί τινός όρους εν τη ερήμω Ζιφ. Και αυτόν εζήτει ο Σαούλ πάσας τας ημέρας· ο Θεός όμως δεν παρέδωκεν αυτόν εις την χείρα αυτού.
15 Then David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life, David, being in the wilderness of Ziph, in the thicket.
Και είδεν ο Δαβίδ ότι εξήλθεν ο Σαούλ διά να ζητή την ζωήν αυτού και ήτο ο Δαβίδ εν τη ερήμω Ζιφ, εντός του δάσους.
16 So Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went unto David in the thicket, —and strengthened his hand in God;
Τότε εσηκώθη Ιωνάθαν, ο υιός του Σαούλ, και υπήγε προς τον Δαβίδ εις το δάσος, και ενίσχυσε την χείρα αυτού εν τω Θεώ.
17 and said unto him, —Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee, but, thou, shalt become king over Israel, and, I, shall be, next, unto thee, yea and, Saul my father, knoweth this.
Και είπε προς αυτόν, Μη φοβού· διότι δεν θέλει σε ευρεί η χειρ Σαούλ του πατρός μου· και συ θέλεις βασιλεύσει επί τον Ισραήλ, και εγώ θέλω είσθαι δεύτερός σου· μάλιστα και Σαούλ ο πατήρ μου εξεύρει τούτο.
18 And they two solemnised a covenant before Yahweh, —and David remained in the thicket, but, Jonathan, departed to his own house.
Και έκαμον αμφότεροι συνθήκην ενώπιον του Κυρίου· και εκάθητο ο Δαβίδ εντός του δάσους, ο δε Ιωνάθαν ανεχώρησεν εις τον οίκον αυτού.
19 Then came up the Ziphites unto Saul in Gibeah, saying, —Is not David hiding himself with us, in the strongholds in the thicket, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right of Jeshimon?
Ανέβησαν δε οι Ζιφαίοι προς τον Σαούλ εις Γαβαά, λέγοντες, Δεν είναι κεκρυμμένος ο Δαβίδ εις ημάς εν οχυρώμασι εντός του δάσους, επί του βουνού Εχελά, του προς τα δεξιά Γεσιμών;
20 Now, therefore, according to all the desire of thy soul O king, to come down, come! and, ours, [will it be] to surrender him into the hand of the king.
τώρα λοιπόν, βασιλεύ, κατάβα, καθ' όλην την επιθυμίαν της ψυχής σου εις το να καταβής· και ημών έργον θέλει είσθαι να παραδώσωμεν αυτόν εις την χείρα του βασιλέως.
21 Then said Saul, Blessed, be ye, of Yahweh, —because ye have taken pity upon me.
Και είπεν ο Σαούλ, Ευλογημένοι σεις παρά Κυρίου, διότι ελάβετε συμπάθειαν προς εμέ·
22 Go, I pray you, make ready yet further, and get to know and see his place, where may be his track, who hath seen him there, —for it hath been said unto me, Cunning indeed, is, he!
υπάγετε λοιπόν, βεβαιώθητε ακριβέστερα και μάθετε και ιδέτε τον τόπον αυτού, που κρύπτεται, τις είδεν αυτόν εκεί· διότι μοι είπον ότι μηχανεύεται πανουργίας·
23 See, then, and get to know—of all the hiding places, where he hideth himself, and return unto me, for certainty, then will I go with you, —and it shall be, if he is in the land, that I will search him out, through all the thousands of Judah.
ιδέτε λοιπόν και μάθετε εν τίνι εκ πάντων των αποκρύφων τόπων είναι κεκρυμμένος, και επιστρέψατε προς εμέ αφού βεβαιωθήτε· και θέλω υπάγει με σάς· και εάν ήναι εν τη γη ταύτη, βεβαίως θέλω εξιχνιάσει αυτόν μεταξύ πασών των χιλιάδων του Ιούδα.
24 So they arose and departed to Ziph, before Saul, —but, David and his men, were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah, to the right of Jeshimon.
Και εσηκώθησαν και υπήγον εις Ζιφ προ του Σαούλ· ο Δαβίδ όμως και οι άνδρες αυτού ήσαν εν τη ερήμω Μαών, εν τη πεδιάδι κατά τα δεξιά του Γεσιμών.
25 Then Saul and his men departed, to seek [him]; but it had been told David, and he had gone down the cliff, and taken up his abode in the wilderness of Maon, —and when Saul had, heard it, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.
Υπήγε δε ο Σαούλ και οι άνδρες αυτού να ζητήσωσιν αυτόν. Και απηγγέλθη τούτο προς τον Δαβίδ· όθεν κατέβη εις την πέτραν και εκάθητο εν τη ερήμω Μαών. Και ακούσας ο Σαούλ, έτρεξε κατόπιν του Δαβίδ εις την έρημον Μαών.
26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and, David and his men, on that side of the mountain, —wherefore David became hurried, to get away from the presence of Saul, but, Saul and his men, were surrounding David and his men, to capture then:
Και ο μεν Σαούλ επορεύετο κατά τούτο το μέρος του όρους, ο δε Δαβίδ και οι άνδρες αυτού κατ' εκείνο το μέρος του όρους· και έσπευσεν ο Δαβίδ να φύγη από προσώπου του Σαούλ· πλην ο Σαούλ και οι άνδρες αυτού περιεκύκλωσαν τον Δαβίδ και τους άνδρας αυτού, διά να συλλάβωσιν αυτούς.
27 when, a messenger, came unto Saul, saying, —Haste thee and come! for the Philistines have spread over the land.
Ήλθε δε μηνυτής προς τον Σαούλ, λέγων, Σπεύσον και ελθέ, διότι οι Φιλισταίοι εφώρμησαν εις την γην.
28 Then returned Saul from pursuing David, and departed to meet the Philistines, —for which cause, they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth ["the Cliff of Separation"].
Όθεν επέστρεψεν ο Σαούλ από του να διώκη κατόπιν του Δαβίδ, και υπήγεν εις συνάντησιν των Φιλισταίων· διά τούτο ωνόμασαν εκείνον τον τόπον, Σελά-αμμαλεκώθ.
29 And David went up from thence, —and abode in the strongholds of En-gedi.
Ανέβη δε ο Δαβίδ εκείθεν και εκάθησεν εν οχυροίς τόποις της Εν-γαδδί.
