< 1 Samuel 16 >

1 And Yahweh said unto Samuel—How long, art thou going to pine for Saul, seeing that, I, have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil, and come! let me send thee unto Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided me, among his sons, a king.
LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel Samuel, “Kom ac asor kacl Saul nwe ngac? Nga eisalla tari liki wal lun tokosra lun Israel. Inge eis kutu oil in olive ac som nu Bethlehem nu yurin mwet se pangpang Jesse, mweyen nga sulela sie sin wen natul tuh elan tokosra.”
2 And Samuel said, How can I go? As soon as Saul heareth, he will slay me. Then said Yahweh, A heifer, take thou with thee, and say, To sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come.
Ac Samuel el siyuk, “Nga ac oru fuka? Saul el fin lohngak el ac uniyuwi!” LEUM GOD El topuk, “Eis soko cow fusr, ac kom fah fahk mu kom tuku in orek kisa nu sin LEUM GOD.
3 Then shall thou bid Jesse to the sacrifice, —when, I, will let thee know what thou must do, so shalt thou anoint for me him whom I shall name unto thee.
Kom fah solal Jesse nu ke kisa uh, ac nga ac fah fahk ma kom in oru. Kom ac fah mosrwela mwet se nga ac fahk nu sum uh tuh elan tokosra.”
4 And Samuel did that which Yahweh had spoken, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him, and one said—Peaceably, comest thou?
Samuel el oru oana ma LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel, ac el som nu Bethlehem. Mwet kol in siti sac elos rarrar ke elos tuku in osun nu sel Samuel, ac elos siyuk sel, “Ku tuku se lom inge tuku ke misla?”
5 And he said—Peaceably: to sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come. Hallow yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he hallowed Jesse and his sons, and bade them to the sacrifice.
Ac Samuel el fahk, “Aok, nga tuku in orek kisa nu sin LEUM GOD. Kowos sifacna aknasnasye kowos, ac fahsru wiyu.” El oayapa fahk nu sel Jesse ac wen ekasr natul elos in aknasnasyalosla, ac el solalos nu ke kisa uh.
6 And it came to pass, when they entered, that he looked upon Eliab, —and said to himself, Surely, before Yahweh, is his Anointed.
Ke elos sun acn sac, Samuel el ngetang liyal Eliab, sie sin wen natul Jesse, ac el sifacna nunku insial, “Pwaye lah mwet se inge su tu ye mutun LEUM GOD, pa mwet se God El sulela.”
7 But Yahweh said unto Samuel—Do not regard his countenance, or the height of his stature, for I have rejected him, —for it is not what man looketh to but what God looketh to. For, man, looketh to the outward appearance, but, Yahweh, looketh to the heart.
A LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel Samuel, “Nik kom lohang nu ke fulatal ku lumahl. Nga tia eisal, mweyen ouiyen sulela luk uh tia oana ouiyen sulela lun mwet uh. Mwet uh elos liye luku, a nga liye insien mwet uh.”
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel, —and he said, Neither of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.
Na Jesse el pangnol Abinadab, sie pac sin wen natul, ac pwanulak nu yorol Samuel. Tusruktu Samuel el fahk, “Mo, LEUM GOD El tia pac sulella el an.”
9 Then Jesse made Shammah pass by, —and he said—Nor of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.
Na Jesse el usalu Shammah. Ac Samuel el fahk, “Mo, LEUM GOD El tia pac sulella el an.”
10 So Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel, —and Samuel said unto Jesse, Yahweh hath not made choice of these.
In lumah se na inge, Jesse el use wen itkosr natul nu yorol Samuel. Ac Samuel el fahk nu sel, “Mo, LEUM GOD El tiana sulela sie selos.”
11 Then said Samuel unto Jesse—Are these all the young men? And he said—There yet remaineth, the youngest, but lo! he is tending the sheep. Then said Samuel unto Jesse—Do, send, and summon him, for we cannot sit round, until he cometh in hither.
12 So he sent, and brought him in. Now, he, was ruddy, a stripling with handsome eyes, and noble mien. Then said Yahweh—Rise—anoint him, for, this, is, he.
Na Jesse el sapla solalma David. El sie mwet fusr fokoko ac oasku, ac atronmutal saromrom. LEUM GOD El fahk nu sel Samuel, “Pa inge mwet sac. Tuyak ac mosrwella!”
13 And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren. And the Spirit of Yahweh came mightily upon David, from that day forward. Then arose Samuel, and went his way unto Ramah.
Samuel el eis oil in olive ac mosrwella David ye mutun tamulel lal. In kitin pacl ah na ngun lun LEUM GOD tuku ke ku nu facl David, ac welul in len sac fahla. Na Samuel el folokla nu Ramah.
14 But, the spirit of Yahweh, departed from Saul, —and there terrified him a sad spirit, from Yahweh.
Inge ngun lun LEUM GOD wanginla lukel Saul, ac sie ngun koluk sin LEUM GOD aklokoalokyal.
15 Then said the servants of Saul unto him, —Lo! we pray thee, a sad superhuman spirit, doth terrify thee:
Mwet kulansap lal Saul elos fahk nu sel, “Kut etu tuh sie ngun koluk sin God pa aklokoalokye kom uh.
16 Pray let our lord bid thy servants before thee, seek out a man, skilled in playing on the lyre, —so shall it be, when a sad superhuman spirit cometh on thee, then shall he play with his hand, and thou shalt be joyful.
Leuwa, supwekut tuh kut in suk sie mwet ma etu srital ke harp, tuh ke pacl se ngun koluk se inge ac utyak nu in kom, mwet sac fah srital ke harp natul, na ac fah akinsewowoye kom.”
17 And Saul said unto his servants, —I pray you, look out for me a man that excelleth in playing, and bring him in unto me.
Saul el sapkin nu selos, “Sokma sie mwet sumat ke srital, ac usalu nu yuruk.”
18 Then responded one of the young men and said—Lo! I have seen—a son of Jesse, the Bethlehemite, skilled in playing, and a mighty man of valour, and a man of war, and of intelligent speech, and a handsome man, and, Yahweh, is with him.
Sie sin mwet kulansap lal ah fahk nu sel, “Oasr wen se natul Jesse mwet Bethlehem, ac nga liye el arulana etu srital ke mwe on. El sie mukul pulaik ac wo lumahl, el sie mwet etu mweun ac el lalmwetmet ke sramsram. LEUM GOD El welul.”
19 So Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, —and said, Send, unto me—David thy son, who is with the sheep.
Ke ma inge Saul el supwala mwet utuk kas nu yorol Jesse, ac elos fahk, “Supwalma David, wen nutum ma liyaung sheep uh.”
20 Then took Jesse an ass laden with bread, and a skin of wine, and one kid, —and sent by the hand of David his son, unto Saul.
Na Jesse el supwalla David nu yorol Saul, wi nani fusr soko, ac donkey soko nwanala fintokol ke bread, ac sie pak in neinyuk wain nwanala ke wain.
21 And David came in unto Saul, —and stood before him, —and he loved him greatly, and he became his armour-bearer.
David el tuku nu yorol Saul ac mutawauk in kulansupwal. Saul el arulana lungse el, ac el sulella tuh in el pa mwet se us mwe mweun natul uh.
22 And Saul sent unto Jesse, saying, —I pray thee, let David stand before me, for he hath found favour in mine eyes.
Na Saul el sapla nu sel Jesse ac fahk, “Nga arulana lungse David. Lela elan mutana inge in kulansupweyu.”
23 And so it used to be, when a superhuman spirit came unto Saul, then would David take the lyre, and play with his hand, —and Saul would be refreshed, and be joyful, and, the sad spirit, would depart from him.
In pacl sac fahla, pacl nukewa ma ngun koluk se sin God ac utyak nu in Saul, na David el ac eis harp natul ac srital kac. Na ngun koluk sac ac som lukel Saul, ac el ac mongi ac sifilpa wola.
