1 Kings 19
1 And Ahab told Jezebel, all that Elijah had done, —and withal, how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
Und Achab sagte der Isebel an alles, was Elijahu getan hatte, und alles, wie er alle Propheten mit dem Schwerte erwürgt.
2 Then sent Jezebel a messenger unto Elijah, saying, —So, let the gods do, and, so, let them add, if, by this time to-morrow, I make not thy life as the life of one of them.
Und Isebel sandte einen Boten an Elijahu und ließ ihm sagen: So sollen mir die Götter tun, und so fortfahren, wenn ich um die morgende Zeit deine Seele nicht mache wie die Seele eines von ihnen.
3 And, when he saw [that], he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, —and left his servant there.
Und er fürchtete sich und machte sich auf und ging um seiner Seele willen, und kam nach Beerscheba in Judah, und ließ seinen Jungen allda bleiben.
4 But, he himself, went into the wilderness a day’s journey, and came and sat down under a certain shrub, —and asked for his life, that he might die, and said—Enough, now, O Yahweh! take away my life, for, no better, am, I, than, my fathers.
Er aber ging in die Wüste, eines Tages Weg, und kam und setzte sich unter einen Ginsterstrauch, und bat für seine Seele, daß er sterbe, und sprach: Nun ist es genug Jehovah, nimm meine Seele, denn ich bin nicht besser, als meine Väter.
5 And, as he lay, and slept, under a certain shrub, lo! a messenger, touching him, who said to him—Rise, eat.
Und er legte sich nieder und schlief unter einem Ginsterstrauch, und siehe da, ein Engel rührte ihn an und sprach zu ihm: Stehe auf, iß!
6 So he looked about, and lo! at his head, a cake baked on hot stones, and a cruse of water, —and he did eat and drink, and then went back and lay down.
Und er blickte auf und siehe, zu seinen Häupten war ein auf glühenden Kohlen gebakkener Kuchen und ein Krüglein mit Wasser. Und er aß und trank und legte sich wieder zu schlafen.
7 And the messenger of Yahweh came again a second time, and touched him, and said—Rise, eat, —because, too much for thee, is the journey.
Und der Engel Jehovahs kehrte zurück zum zweitenmal und rührte ihn an und sprach: Stehe auf und iß, denn zuviel ist deines Weges für dich.
8 So he arose, and did eat and drink, —and journeyed, in the strength of that eating, forty days and forty nights, as far as the mountain of God—Horeb.
Und er stand auf und aß und trank, und ging in Kraft dieser Speise vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte bis an den Berg Gottes, Choreb.
9 And he entered, there, into a cave, and lodged there, —and lo! the word of Yahweh [came] unto him, and said to him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
Und er kam allda an eine Höhle und übernachtete daselbst; und siehe, das Wort Jehovahs geschah an ihn und sprach zu ihm: Was ist dir hier Elijahu?
10 And he said—Very jealous, have I been, for Yahweh, God of hosts, because the sons of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thine altars, have they thrown down, thy prophets, also have they slain with the sword, —and, I alone, am left, and they have sought my life, to take it.
Er aber sprach: Ich habe geeifert für Jehovah, den Gott der Heerscharen, weil die Söhne Israels Deinen Bund verlassen, Deine Altäre eingerissen und Deine Propheten mit dem Schwert erwürgt haben, und ich allein bin übriggeblieben. Und sie trachten nach meiner Seele, sie zu nehmen.
11 And he said—Go forth to-morrow, and stand in the mountain, before Yahweh. And lo! Yahweh, passing by, and a great and strong wind—rending the mountains, and breaking in pieces the crags, before Yahweh, Not, in the wind, was, Yahweh, —And, after the wind, an, earthquake, Not, in the earthquake, was, Yahweh;
Und er sprach: Gehe hinaus und stehe auf dem Berg vor Jehovah, und siehe, Jehovah geht vorüber. Und ein großer und starker Wind, Berge zerberstend und Felsenklippen zerbrechend, vor Jehovah. Nicht im Winde war Jehovah. Und nach dem Winde ein Erdbeben; im Erdbeben war Jehovah nicht.
12 And, after the earthquake, a, fire, Not, in the fire, was, Yahweh, —And, after the fire, the voice of a gentle whisper.
Und nach dem Erdbeben ein Feuer. Nicht im Feuer war Jehovah; und nach dem Feuer eine Stimme, still, sanft.
13 And it came to pass, when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went forth, and stood at the entrance of the cave, —and lo! unto him, a voice; and it said—What doest thou here, Elijah?
Und es geschah, als Elijahu dies hörte, da hüllte er sein Angesicht ein in seinen Mantel und ging hinaus und stand am Eingang der Höhle und siehe, ihm ward eine Stimme und sprach: Was ist dir hier, Elijahu?
14 And he said—Very jealous, have I been, for Yahweh, God of hosts, because the sons of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thine altars, have they thrown down, thy prophets also, have they slain with the sword, —and, I alone, am left, and they rove sought my life, to take it.
Und er sprach: Ich habe geeifert für Jehovah, den Gott der Heerscharen, weil die Söhne Israels Deinen Bund verlassen, Deine Altäre eingerissen und deine Propheten mit dem Schwert erwürgt haben, und ich allein übriggeblieben bin, und sie trachten nach meiner Seele, sie zu nehmen.
15 And Yahweh said unto him, Go, return to thy way, towards the wilderness of Damascus, —and, when thou enterest, then shalt thou anoint Hazael to be king over Syria;
Und Jehovah sprach zu ihm: Gehe, kehre zurück auf deinem Wege zur Wüste gegen Damask und komme und salbe Chasael zum Könige über Aram.
16 And, Jehu son of Minshi, shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel, —and, Elisha son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah, shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy stead:
Und Jehu, den Sohn des Nimschi, salbe zum König über Israel, und Elischa, den Sohn Schaphats von Abel-Mecholah, salbe zum Propheten an deiner Stelle.
17 Then shall it come to pass, that—him that escapeth the sword of Hazael, shall, Jehu, slay, —and, him that escapeth the sword of Jehu, shall, Elisha, slay;
Und es soll geschehen, wer von dem Schwerte Chasaels entrinnt, den soll Jehu töten, und wer von dem Schwerte Jehus entrinnt, den soll Elischa töten.
18 Yet will I leave remaining in Israel, seven thousand, —all knees which have not bowed to Baal, and all mouths which have not kissed to him.
Und Ich lasse in Israel siebentausend verbleiben, alle Knie, die sich nicht dem Baal gebeugt, und allen Mund, der ihn nicht geküßt hat.
19 So he departed from thence, and found Elisha son of Shaphat, as he was plowing, with twelve yoke of oxen before him, he being with the twelfth, —so Elijah crossed over unto him, and cast his mantle towards him;
Und er ging von dannen und fand Elischa, den Sohn Schaphats, und er pflügte mit zwölf Jochen vor ihm her, und er war bei dem zwölften. Und Elijahu ging zu ihm hinüber und warf seinen Mantel auf ihn.
20 and he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said—Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, that I may follow thee. And he said unto him, —Go, turn back, for what have I done to thee?
Und er verließ die Rinder und lief dem Elijahu nach und sprach: Laß mich doch meinen Vater und meine Mutter küssen, dann will ich dir nachgehen; und er sprach zu ihm: Gehe, kehre zurück, was habe ich dir getan?
21 So he turned back from following him, and took the yoke of oxen, and sacrificed them, and, with the implements of the oxen, boiled their flesh, and gave unto the people, and they did eat, —then he arose, and followed Elijah, and ministered unto him.
Und er kehrte zurück von, und nahm das Joch Rinder und opferte es, und mit dem Rindergerät kochte er das Fleisch und gab es dem Volke, und sie aßen. Und er machte sich auf und ging Elijahu nach und bediente ihn.
