1 Kings 16

1 Then came the word of Yahweh unto Jehu

Es erging aber das Wort Jahwes an Jehu, den Sohn Hananis, wider Baesa folgendermaßen:

2 son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying: Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and gave thee to be leader over my people Israel, —and yet thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and caused, my people Israel, to sin, provoking me to anger with their sins,

Darum, weil ich dich aus dem Staub erhoben und zum Fürsten über mein Volk Israel gemacht habe, du aber auf dem Wege Jerobeams wandelst und mein Volk Israel zur Sünde verführst, daß sie mich durch ihre Sünden zum Zorne reizen,

3 Behold me! consuming after Baasha, and after his house, —and I will deliver up thy house, like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat:

so will ich fürwahr Baesa und sein Haus hinwegfegen und will mit deinem Hause verfahren, wie mit dem Hause Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats.

4 Him that dieth of Baasha in the city, shall, the dogs, eat, and, him that dieth of his in the field, shall, the birds of heaven, eat.

Wer von Baesa in der Stadt stirbt, den sollen die Hunde fressen, wer aber von ihm draußen im Freien stirbt, den sollen die Vögel unter dem Himmel fressen.

5 Now, the rest of the story of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Baesa zu sagen ist und was er ausgeführt hat und seine tapferen Thaten, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

6 So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah, —and, Elah his son, reigned, in his stead.

Und Baesa legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward zu Thirza begraben. Und sein Sohn Ela ward König an seiner Statt.

7 Moreover also, through Jehu son of Hanani the prophet, the word of Yahweh, came against Baasha and against his house, even because of all the wickedness that he had done in the eyes of Yahweh, provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, becoming like the house of Jeroboam, —notwithstanding that he smote him.

Übrigens war durch den Propheten Jehu, den Sohn Hananis, das Wort Jahwes über Baesa und sein Haus ergangen teils wegen all des Bösen, das er in den Augen Jahwes gethan hatte, indem er ihn durch das Machwerk seiner Hände zum Zorne reizte, so daß es ihm ergehen sollte, wie dem Hause Jerobeams, teils deshalb, weil er gemordet hatte, was zu diesem gehörte.

8 In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, began Elah son of Baasha to reign over Israel, in Tirzah, [and he reigned] two years.

Im sechsundzwanzigsten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, ward Ela, der Sohn Baesas, König über Israel und regierte zu Thirza zwei Jahre.

9 Then conspired against him his servant Zimri, captain of half the chariots, —as he was in Tirzah drinking himself drunk, in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah.

Sein Diener Simri aber, der Oberste über die eine Hälfte der Streitwagen, zettelte eine Verschwörung wider ihn an. Und während er sich zu Thirza im Hause Arzas, des Haushofmeisters zu Thirza, trunken zechte,

10 And Zimri went in, and smote him and slew him, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, —and reigned in his stead.

drang Simri ein und schlug ihn tot, im siebenundzwanzigsten Jahr Asas, des Königs von Juda, und ward König an seiner Statt.

11 And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he smote all the house of Baasha, he left him not even the meanest, —neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

Als er nun König war, sobald er auf seinem Throne saß, mordete er alles, was zum Hause Baesas gehörte, - er ließ nichts von ihm übrig, was an die Wand pißte, - samt seinen Verwandten und Freunden.

12 Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, —according to the word of Yahweh which he spake unto Baasha, through Jehu the prophet;

Also vertilgte Simri das ganze Haus Baesas, nach dem Wort Jahwes, das er durch den Propheten Jehu über Baesa geredet hatte,

13 as to all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, —wherewith they sinned, and wherewith they caused, Israel, to sin, provoking to anger Yahweh God of Israel, with their vanities.

wegen aller der Sünden Baesas und der Sünden seines Sohnes Ela, die sie begangen und zu denen sie Israel verführt hatten, daß sie Jahwe, den Gott Israel, durch ihre nichtigen Götzen zum Zorne reizten.

14 Now, the rest of the story of Elah, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Ela zu sagen ist, und alles was er ausgeführt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

15 In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, did Zimri reign, seven days in Tirzah, —but, the people, were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistine.

Im siebenundzwanzigsten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, ward Simri König und regierte sieben Jahre zu Thirza, während das Kriegsvolk Gibbethon belagerte, welches den Philistern gehörte.

16 When therefore the people who were encamped, heard say, Zimri hath conspired, moreover also, he hath smitten the king, all Israel made Omri, general of the army, king over Israel, on that day, in the camp.

Als nun das Volk im Lager die Kunde vernahm, Simri habe eine Verschwörung angezettelt und den König erschlagen, da machte ganz Israel Omri, der als Feldhauptmann über Israel gebot, jenes Tags im Lager zum Könige.

17 So Omri, and all Israel with him, went up from Gibbethon, —and laid siege against Tirzah.

Sodann zog Omri mit dem ganzen Israel von Gibbethon heran, und sie belagerten Thirza.

18 And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was captured, that he entered into the citadel of the house of the king, —and burned over him the house of the king, with fire, and died:

Als aber Simri wahrnahm, daß die Stadt genommen sei, begab er sich in die Burg des königlichen Palastes, steckte den königlichen Palast über sich in Brand und fand so den Tod

19 because of his sins which he committed by doing the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —by walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he committed, by causing, Israel, to sin.

um seiner Sünden willen, die er begangen hatte, indem er that, was Jahwe mißfiel, indem er auf dem Wege Jerobeams wandelte und in seiner Sünde, die er begangen hatte, indem er Israel zur Sünde verführte.

20 Now, the rest of the story of Zimri, and his conspiracy wherein he conspired, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Simri zu sagen ist und seine Verschwörung, die er angezettelt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

21 Then, were the people of Israel divided, —half the people, were following Tibni son of Ginath, to make him king, and, half, following Omri.

Damals spaltete sich das Volk Israel in verschiedene Parteien. Die eine Hälfte des Volks schlug sich zu Thibni, dem Sohne Ginaths, um ihn zum Könige zu machen, die andere Hälfte aber hing Omri an.

22 But, the people that followed Omri, prevailed against, the people that followed Tibni son of Ginath; so that, Tibni, died, and, Omri, reigned.

Es gewannen aber die, welche Omri anhingen, die Oberhand über die, welche Thibni, dem Sohne Ginaths, anhingen. Als aber Thibni gestorben war, wurde Omri König.

23 In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, began Omri to reign over Israel [and he reigned] twelve years: in Tirzah, reigned he six years.

Im einunddreißigsten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, ward Omri König über Israel und regierte zwölf Jahre; zu Thirza regierte er sechs Jahre.

24 And he bought the hill Samaria, of Shemer, for two talents of silver, —and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer lord of the hill—Samaria.

Der kaufte den Berg Samaria von Semer um zwei Talente Silbers und befestigte den Berg und benannte die Stadt, die er erbaut hatte, nach dem Namen Semers, des Herrn des Berges, Samaria.

25 And Omri did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and did more wickedly than all who were before him;

Und Omri that, was Jahwe mißfiel, und trieb es ärger, als alle, die vor ihm gewesen waren,

26 yea he walked in all the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin, —provoking to anger Yahweh, God of Israel, with their vanities.

und wandelte ganz auf dem Wege Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, und in seiner Sünde, zu der er Israel verführt hatte, daß sie Jahwe, den Gott Israels, durch ihre nichtigen Götzen zum Zorne reizten.

27 Now, the rest of the story of Omri, what he did, and his might that he shewed, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Omri zu sagen ist und alles, was er ausgeführt hat, und seine tapferen Thaten, die er gethan hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

28 So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria, —and, Ahab his son, reigned, in his stead.

Und Omri legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward zu Samaria begraben. Und sein Sohn Ahab ward König an seiner Statt.

29 Now, Ahab son of Omri, began to reign over Israel, in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, —and Ahab son of Omri reigned over Israel, in Samaria, twenty-two years.

Und Ahab, der Sohn Omris, ward König über Israel im achtunddreißigsten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, und Ahab, der Sohn Omris, regierte über Israel zu Samaria zweiundzwanzig Jahre.

30 And Ahab son of Omri did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and did more wickedly than all that were before him.

Und Ahab, der Sohn Omris, that, was Jahwe mißfiel, und trieb es ärger, als alle, die vor ihm gewesen waren.

31 And it come to pass, as though it had been too light a thing that he should walk in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel, daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and bowed down to him.

Und das war noch das Geringste, daß er in den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, wandelte; aber er nahm auch Isebel, die Tochter Ethbaals, des Königs der Sidonier, zum Weibe und diente dann dem Baal und betete ihn an.

32 And he reared an altar unto Baal, —in the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria.

Und er errichtete dem Baal einen Altar in dem Baals-Tempel, den er zu Samaria erbaut hatte.

33 And Ahab made the Sacred Stem, —and Ahab did yet more to provoke to anger Yahweh God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

Auch fertigte Ahab die Aschera an; und Ahab verübte noch andere Ärgernisse, Jahwe, den Gott Israels, zum Zorne zu reizen, mehr als alle Könige Israels, die vor ihm gewesen waren.

34 In his days, did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho, —At the price of Abiram his firstborn, he laid its foundation, and, at the price of Segub his youngest, he set up its doors, according to the word of Yahweh which he spake through Joshua son of Nun.

Zu seiner Zeit baute Hiel von Bethel die Stadt Jericho wieder auf; es kostete ihn seinen Erstgeborenen, Abiram, als er ihren Grund legte, und seinen jüngsten Sohne Segub, als er ihre Thore einsetzte, nach dem Worte Jahwes, das er durch Josua, den Sohn Nuns, geredet hatte.
