1 Corinthians 11
1 Become imitators of me, —even as, I also, [am] of Christ.
Niigeni mimi kama ninavyomwiga Kristo.
2 Now I praise you, that, in all things, ye have me in remembrance, and, even as I delivered unto you the instructions, ye hold them fast.
Nawapeni hongera kwa sababu mnanikumbuka na kwa sababu mnayashikilia yale maagizo niliyowapeni.
3 But I wish you to know—that, the head of every man, is, the Christ, and, the head of a woman, is, the man; and, the head of the Christ, is, God.
Lakini napenda pia mjue kwamba Kristo ni kichwa cha kila mwanamume, na mwanamume ni kichwa cha mkewe, na Mungu ni kichwa cha Kristo.
4 Every man, praying, or prophesying, having anything upon his head, putteth to shame his head;
Basi, kila mwanamume anayesali au anayetangaza ujumbe wa Mungu huku amefunika kichwa chake, huyo anamdharau Kristo.
5 But, every woman, praying, or prophesying, with her head, unveiled, putteth to shame her head, —for it is, one and the same, with her having been shaven.
Na mwanamke akisali au kutangaza ujumbe wa Mungu bila kufunika kichwa chake, anamdharau mumewe; anayefanya hivyo ni sawa tu na mwanamke aliyenyoa kichwa chake.
6 For, if a woman doth not veil herself, let her also be shorn; but, if it were a shame in a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be veiled.
Mwanamke asiyefunika kichwa chake, afadhali anyoe nywele zake. Lakini ni aibu kwa mwanamke kukatwa nywele zake au kunyolewa; basi, afadhali afunike kichwa chake.
7 For, a man, indeed, ought not to be veiling his head, being, the image and glory of God, —but, the woman, is the glory of man;
Haifai mwanamume kufunika kichwa chake, kwa kuwa yeye ni mfano wa Mungu na kioo cha utukufu wake Mungu; lakini mwanamke ni kioo cha utukufu wa mwanamume.
8 For, man, is not, of woman, but, woman, of man;
Mwanamume hakutoka kwa mwanamke, ila mwanamke alitoka kwa mwanamume.
9 For also man was not created, for the sake of the woman, but woman, for the sake of the man.
Mwanamume hakuumbwa kwa ajili ya mwanamke, ila mwanamke aliumbwa kwa ajili ya mwanamume.
10 For this cause, ought the woman to have, permission, upon her head, because of the messengers.
Ndiyo maana mwanamke hufunika kichwa chake, iwe ishara ya mamlaka yaliyo juu yake, na pia kwa sababu ya malaika.
11 Howbeit, neither is woman apart from man, nor man apart from woman—in the Lord;
Hata hivyo, mbele ya Bwana mwanamke si kitu bila mwanamume, naye mwanamume si kitu bila mwanamke.
12 For, just as the woman is of the man, so, also the man, is through means of the woman; —but, all things, are of God.
Kama vile mwanamke alivyotokana na mwanamume, vivyo hivyo mwanamume huzaliwa na mwanamke; kila kitu hutoka kwa Mungu.
13 Among your own selves, judge ye, —Is it becoming for a woman, —unveiled, to be praying unto God?
Amueni wenyewe: Je, inafaa mwanamke kumwomba Mungu bila kuvaa kitu kichwani?
14 Doth not, even nature herself, teach you—that, if, a man, have long hair, it is a dishonour to him;
Hata maumbile yenyewe huonyesha wazi kwamba kwa mwanamume kuwa na nywele ndefu ni aibu kwake mwenyewe;
15 But, if, a woman, have long hair, it is a glory to her, for, her long hair, instead of a veil, hath been given to her.
lakini kwa mwanamke kuwa na nywele ni heshima kwake; nywele zake ndefu amepewa ili zimfunike.
16 But, if anyone thinketh to be contentious, we, have no such custom, —nor yet the assemblies of God.
Kama mtu anataka kuleta ubishi juu ya jambo hili, basi, na ajue kwamba sisi hatuna desturi nyingine, wala makanisa ya Mungu hayana desturi nyingine.
17 But, in giving you the following charge, I praise you not, —in that, not for the better, but for the worse, ye come together.
Nikiwa bado nawapeni maagizo haya, siwezi hata kidogo kuwapa ninyi hongera kuhusu haya yafuatayo: mikutano yenu ninyi waumini yaleta hasara zaidi kuliko faida.
18 For, first of all, —when ye come together in assembly, I hear that divisions among you exist, —and, in part, I believe it;
Awali ya yote, nasikia kwamba mnapokutana pamoja hutokea mafarakano kati yenu. Nami naamini kiasi,
19 For there must needs be, even parties among you, that, the approved, [themselves] may become manifest among you.
maana ni lazima fikira tofauti ziweko miongoni mwenu, ili wale walio thabiti wapate kutambulikana.
20 When, therefore, ye come together into one place, it is not to eat, a supper unto the Lord;
Kweli mnakutana, lakini si kwa ajili ya kula chakula cha Bwana!
21 For, each one, taketh beforehand, his own supper, in your eating, and, one, indeed, is hungry, whereas, another, is drinking to excess.
Maana mnapokula kila mmoja hukikalia chakula chake mwenyewe, hata hutokea kwamba baadhi yenu wana njaa, na wengine wamelewa!
22 What! have ye not houses for your eating and drinking? or, the assembly of God, do ye despise, and, put to shame them who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Shall I praise you? In this, I praise you not.
Je, hamwezi kula na kunywa nyumbani kwenu! Au je, mnalidharau kanisa la Mungu na kuwaaibisha hao wasio na kitu? Niwaambie nini? Niwasifu? La hasha! Si kuhusu jambo hili.
23 For, I myself, received from the Lord—that which I also delivered unto you, —how that, the Lord Jesus, in the night in which he was being delivered up, took a loaf,
Maana mimi nilipokea kwa Bwana yale maagizo niliyowaachieni: kwamba, usiku ule Bwana Yesu aliotolewa, alitwaa mkate,
24 And, giving thanks, brake it, and said—This, is my body, which is for you, —this, do ye, in remembrance of me;
akamshukuru Mungu, akaumega, akasema: “Huu ndio mwili wangu ulio kwa ajili yenu; fanyeni hivi kwa kunikumbuka.”
25 In the same manner, the cup also, after they had taken supper, saying—This cup, is, the new covenant in my blood, this, do ye, as often soever as ye may be drinking it, in remembrance of me.
Vivyo hivyo, baada ya kula, akatwaa kikombe akasema: “Hiki ni kikombe cha agano jipya linalothibitishwa kwa damu yangu. Fanyeni hivi, kila mnapokunywa, kwa kunikumbuka.”
26 For, as often as ye may be eating this loaf, and, the cup, may be drinking, The death of the Lord, do ye announce, until he come.
Maana kila mnapokula mkate huu na kunywa kikombe hiki, mwatangaza kifo cha Bwana, mpaka atakapokuja.
27 So that, whosoever may be eating the loaf, or drinking the cup of the Lord, in an unworthy manner, shall be responsible for the body and blood of the Lord.
Kwa hiyo, kila aulaye mkate huo au kunywa kikombe cha Bwana bila kustahili, atakuwa na hatia dhidi ya mwili na damu ya Bwana.
28 But let a man be proving himself, —and, so, of the loaf, let him eat, and, of the cup, let him drink;
Basi, kila mtu ajichunguze mwenyewe kwanza, ndipo ale mkate huo na anywe kikombe hicho;
29 For, he that is eating and drinking, —judgment unto himself, doth eat and drink, —if he be not setting apart the body.
maana anayekula na kunywa bila kutambua maana ya mwili wa Bwana, anakula na kunywa hukumu yake yeye mwenyewe.
30 For this cause, many among you are weak and sickly; and, not a few, are falling asleep.
Ndiyo maana wengi kati yenu ni dhaifu na wagonjwa, na wengine kadhaa wamekufa.
31 If, however, we had been setting, ourselves, apart, we had not, in that case, been coming under judgment;
Kama tungejichunguza wenyewe vizuri hatungeadhibiwa hivyo.
32 But, being brought under judgment, by the Lord, are we being disciplined, lest, with the world, we should be condemned.
Lakini tunapohukumiwa na Bwana, tunafunzwa tuwe na nidhamu, ili tusije tukahukumiwa pamoja na ulimwengu.
33 So then, my brethren, —when ye come together for the eating, unto one another, be giving welcome: —
Kwa hiyo, ndugu zangu, mnapokutana kula chakula cha Bwana, kila mmoja amngoje mwenzake.
34 If anyone be hungry, at home, let him eat, lest, unto judgment, ye be coming together. And, the remaining things, whensoever I come, I will set in order.
Na kama kuna yeyote aliye na njaa, na ale nyumbani kwake, ili kukutana kwenu kusisababishe hukumu. Lakini, kuhusu yale mambo mengine, nitawapeni maelezo nitakapokuja.
