1 Chronicles 27

1 Now, the sons of Israel—as to the number of them, the ancestral chiefs—and rulers of thousands and hundreds, and their officers who waited upon the king as to any matter of the courses, who came in and went out month by month, for all the months of the year, in each course, were twenty-four thousand.

Et, pendant le cours de l'année, de mois en mois, une division de vingt- quatre mille hommes, prise parmi tous les fils d'Israël, chefs de familles, commandants de mille hommes, centeniers, scribes et serviteurs, était employée à exécuter les ordres du roi; chaque division était relevée à son tour.

2 Over the first course, for the first month, was Jashobeam, son of Zabdiel, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

A la tête de la première division employée le premier mois était Isboaz, fils de Zabdiel; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

3 Of the sons of Perez, was the chief for all the rulers of the hosts, for the first month.

Il était issu de Pharès, et comme chef de tous les chefs de l'armée, il commandait pendant le premier mois.

4 And, over the course for the second month, was Dodai an Ahohite, and, of his course, was Mikloth also a chief ruler, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

A la tête de la division du second mois était Dodia, fils d'Eccoc, et il y avait encore pour chef de cette division Maceloth; ils étaient chefs de vingt- quatre mille hommes.

5 The ruler of the third host, for the third month, was Benaiah, son of Jehoiada the priest—a chief, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

Banaïas, fils de Joad le prêtre, était le troisième chef, il commandait la division du troisième mois, pareillement vingt-quatre mille hommes.

6 The same Benaiah, was a hero of thirty, and over the thirty, —and, over his course, was Ammizabad his son.

Ce Banaïas était le plus vaillant des trente; il était à leur tête, et son fils Zabad commandait avec lui sa division.

7 The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asahel, brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son, after him, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

Le quatrième, celui du quatrième mois, était Asaël, frère de Joab, et son fils Zabadie; ses fils et ses frères partageaient son commandement sur vingt- quatre mille hommes.

8 Of the fifth, for the fifth month, the ruler, was Shamhuth the Izrahite, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

9 The sixth, for the sixth month, was Ira son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

10 The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helez the Pelonite, of the sons of Ephraim, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

Le septième, celui du septième mois, était Relies de Phallus, des fils d'Ephrahn; sa division comptait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

11 The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

Le huitième, celui du huitième mois, était Sohochaï de Husathi, issu de Zara; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

12 The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

Le neuvième, celui du neuvième mois, était Abiézer d'Anathoth, de la terre de Benjamin; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

13 The tenth, for the tenth month, was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

Le dixième, celui du dixième mois, était Méhéra de Netophathi, issu de Zara; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

14 The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the sons of Ephraim, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

15 The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

Le douzième, celui du douzième mois, était Holdia de Netophathi, issu d'Othoniel; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

16 Furthermore, over the tribes of Israel, the chief ruler of the Reubenites, was Eliezer, son of Zichri. Of the Simeonites, Shephatiah, son of Maacah.

17 Of Levi, Hashabiah, son of Kemuel. Of Aaron, Zadok.

18 Of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David. Of Issachar, Omri, son of Michael.

19 Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah, son of Obadiah. Of Naphtali, Jeremoth, son of Azriel.

20 Of the sons of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Azaziah. Of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel, son of Pedaiah.

21 Of the half of Manasseh, in Gilead, Iddo, son of Zechariah. Of Benjamin, Jaasiel, son of Abner.

22 Of Dan, Azarel, son of Jeroham. These, were the rulers of the tribes of Israel.

Celui de Dan: Azariel, fils de Iroab; tels étaient les chefs de familles des tribus d'Israël.

23 But David took not the number of them, from twenty years old, and under, —because Yahweh had said, he would multiply Israel like the stars of the heavens.

Et David ne fit point le dénombrement de ceux de vingt ans et au-dessous, car le Seigneur lui avait dit qu'il multiplierait Israël comme les étoiles du ciel.

24 Joab son of Zeruiah, began to number, but finished not, when there arose, on this account, indignation against Israel, —neither did the number come up into the account of the chronicles of King David.

Et Joab, fils de Sarvia, avait commencé le dénombrement du peuple, mais il ne l'acheva point; et ce dénombrement causa la colère qui éclata contre Israël, et le nombre que l'on avait trouvé fut supprimé du livre des faits et gestes du roi David.

25 And, over the treasuries of the king, was Azmaveth, son of Adiel. And, over the treasuries in the fields, in the cities, in the villages and in the castles, was Jonathan, son of Uzziah;

Asmoth, fils d'Adaël, fut trésorier du roi, et Jonathas, fils d'Ozia, trésorier de la contrée, des villes, des villages et des tours.

26 And, over the workers of the field, for the tillage of the ground, was Ezri, son of Chelub.

Esdri, fils d'Hélab, avait l'intendance des laboureurs et ouvriers travaillant à la terre.

27 And, over the vineyards, was Shimei, the Ramathite. And, over that which was in the vineyards, for the treasuries of wine, was Zabdi, the Shiphmite.

Semei de Rahel, celle des champs; Zabni, fils de Jephni, celle des vignes.

28 And, over the olive-trees and the sycamore-trees that were in the lowland, was Baal-hanan the Gederite. And, over the treasuries of oil, was Joash.

Balanan le Gedorite, celle des oliviers et des figuiers des champs; Joas, celle de l'huile.

29 And, over the herds that pastured in Sharon, was Shitrai, the Sharonite. And, over the herds in the vales, Shaphat, son of Adlai.

Satrai le Saronite, celle des bœufs qui paissaient en Saron; et Sophat, fils d'Abdi, celle des bœufs à l'étable.

30 And, over the camels, was Obil, the Ishmaelite. And, over the asses, was Jehdeyahu the Meronothite.

Abias, l'Ismaélite, celle des chameaux; Jadias de Merathon, celle des ânes.

31 And, over the flocks, was Jaziz, the Hagrite. All these, were rulers over the possessions that belonged to King David.

Jaziz l'Agarite, celle des brebis. Tels étaient tous les intendants des domaines du roi David.

32 And, Jonathan the relative of David, was a counsellor, a man of understanding and a scribe, was he. And, Jehiel son of Hachmoni, was with the sons of the king.

Jonathas, oncle paternel de David, était conseiller, homme intelligent; et Jehel, fils d'Achami, était avec les fils du roi.

33 And, Ahitophel, was counsellor to the king. And, Hushai the Archite, was the companion of the king.

Achitophel était conseiller du roi, et Chusi son principal favori.

34 And, after Ahitophel, was Jehoiada son of Benaiah—and Abiathar. And, the captain of the king’s army, was Joab.

Après lui venaient Achitophel, Joad, fils de Banaïas et Abiathar. Joab était le général en chef du roi.
