Ruth 3

1 And Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

Und Naemi, ihre Schwieger, sprach zu ihr: Meine Tochter, ich will dir Ruhe schaffen, daß dir's wohlgehe.

2 And now is there not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to-night in the threshing-floor.

Nun, der Boas, unser Freund, bei des Dirnen du gewesen bist, worfelt diese Nacht Gerste auf seiner Tenne.

3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put on thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the threshing-floor: but make not thyself known to the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

So bade dich und salbe dich und lege dein Kleid an und gehe hinab auf die Tenne, daß dich niemand kenne, bis man ganz gegessen und getrunken hat.

4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

Wenn er sich dann leget, so merke den Ort, da er sich hinlegt; und komm und decke auf zu seinen Füßen und lege dich, so wird er dir wohl sagen, was du tun sollst.

5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest I will do.

Sie sprach zu ihr: Alles was du mir sagest, will ich tun.

6 And she went down unto the threshing-floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.

Sie ging hinab zur Tenne und tat alles, wie ihre Schwieger geboten hatte.

7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

Und da Boas gegessen und getrunken hatte, ward sein Herz guter Dinge; und kam und legte sich hinter eine Mandel. Und sie kam leise und deckte auf zu seinen Füßen und legte sich.

8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

Da es nun Mitternacht ward, erschrak der Mann und erschütterte; und siehe, ein Weib lag zu seinen Füßen.

9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

Und er sprach: Wer bist du? Sie antwortete: Ich bin Ruth, deine Magd. Breite deinen Flügel über deine Magd, denn du bist der Erbe.

10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

Er aber sprach: Gesegnet seiest du dem HERRN, meine Tochter! Du hast eine bessere Barmherzigkeit hernach getan denn vorhin, daß du nicht bist den Jünglingen nachgegangen, weder reich noch arm.

11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou sayest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

Nun, meine Tochter, fürchte dich nicht! Alles, was du sagst, will ich dir tun; denn die ganze Stadt meines Volks weiß, daß du ein tugendsam Weib bist.

12 And now it is true that I am a near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

Nun, es ist wahr, daß ich der Erbe bin; aber es ist einer näher denn ich.

13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.

Bleib über Nacht. Morgen, so er dich nimmt, wohl; gelüstet's ihn aber nicht, dich zu nehmen, so will ich dich nehmen, so wahr der HERR lebt. Schlaf bis morgen.

14 And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could discern another. For he said, Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing-floor.

Und sie schlief bis morgen zu seinen Füßen. Und sie stund auf, ehe denn einer den andern, kennen mochte; und er gedachte, daß nur niemand inne werde, daß ein Weib in die Tenne kommen sei!

15 And he said, Bring the mantle that is upon thee, and hold it; and she held it: and he measured six [measures] of barley, and laid it on her: and he went into the city.

Und sprach: Lange her den Mantel, den du anhast, und halt ihn zu. Und sie hielt ihn zu. Und er maß sechs Maß Gerste und legte es auf sie. Und er kam in die Stadt.

16 And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.

Sie aber kam zu ihrer Schwieger, die sprach: Wie steht es mit dir, meine Tochter? Und sie sagte ihr alles, was ihr der Mann getan hatte,

17 And she said, These six [measures] of barley gave he me; for he said, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.

und sprach: Diese sechs Maß Gerste gab er mir, denn er sprach: Du sollst nicht leer zu deiner Schwieger kommen.

18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

Sie aber sprach: Sei stille, meine Tochter, bis du erfährest, wo es hinaus will; denn der Mann wird nicht ruhen, er bringe es denn heute zu Ende.
