Psalms 73
1 A Psalm of Asaph. Surely God is good to Israel, [even] to such as are pure in heart.
アサフの歌 神は正しい者にむかい、心の清い者にむかって、まことに恵みふかい。
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
しかし、わたしは、わたしの足がつまずくばかり、わたしの歩みがすべるばかりであった。
3 For I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
これはわたしが、悪しき者の栄えるのを見て、その高ぶる者をねたんだからである。
4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
彼らには苦しみがなく、その身はすこやかで、つやがあり、
5 They are not in trouble as [other] men; neither are they plagued like [other] men.
ほかの人々のように悩むことがなく、ほかの人々のように打たれることはない。
6 Therefore pride is as a chain about their neck; violence covereth them as a garment.
それゆえ高慢は彼らの首飾となり、暴力は衣のように彼らをおおっている。
7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
彼らは肥え太って、その目はとびいで、その心は愚かな思いに満ちあふれている。
8 They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression: they speak loftily.
彼らはあざけり、悪意をもって語り、高ぶって、しえたげを語る。
9 They have set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
彼らはその口を天にさからって置き、その舌は地をあるきまわる。
10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full [cup] are wrung out by them.
それゆえ民は心を変えて彼らをほめたたえ、彼らのうちにあやまちを認めない。
11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?
彼らは言う、「神はどうして知り得ようか、いと高き者に知識があろうか」と。
12 Behold, these are the wicked; and, being alway at ease, they increase in riches.
見よ、これらは悪しき者であるのに、常に安らかで、その富が増し加わる。
13 Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocency;
まことに、わたしはいたずらに心をきよめ、罪を犯すことなく手を洗った。
14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
わたしはひねもす打たれ、朝ごとに懲しめをうけた。
15 If I had said, I will speak thus; behold, I had dealt treacherously with the generation of thy children.
もしわたしが「このような事を語ろう」と言ったなら、わたしはあなたの子らの代を誤らせたであろう。
16 When I thought how I might know this, it was too painful for me;
しかし、わたしがこれを知ろうと思いめぐらしたとき、これはわたしにめんどうな仕事のように思われた。
17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God, and considered their latter end.
わたしが神の聖所に行って、彼らの最後を悟り得たまではそうであった。
18 Surely thou settest them in slippery places: thou castest them down to destruction.
まことにあなたは彼らをなめらかな所に置き、彼らを滅びに陥らせられる。
19 How are they become a desolation in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
なんと彼らはまたたくまに滅ぼされ、恐れをもって全く一掃されたことであろう。
20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
あなたが目をさまして彼らの影をかろしめられるとき、彼らは夢みた人の目をさました時のようである。
21 For my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins:
わたしの魂が痛み、わたしの心が刺されたとき、
22 So brutish was I, and ignorant; I was [as] a beast before thee.
わたしは愚かで悟りがなく、あなたに対しては獣のようであった。
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden my right hand.
けれどもわたしは常にあなたと共にあり、あなたはわたしの右の手を保たれる。
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
あなたはさとしをもってわたしを導き、その後わたしを受けて栄光にあずからせられる。
25 Whom have I in heaven [but thee]? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
わたしはあなたのほかに、だれを天にもち得よう。地にはあなたのほかに慕うものはない。
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: [but] God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever.
わが身とわが心とは衰える。しかし神はとこしえにわが心の力、わが嗣業である。
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
見よ、あなたに遠い者は滅びる。あなたは、あなたにそむく者を滅ぼされる。
28 But it is good for me to draw near unto God: I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all thy works.
しかし神に近くあることはわたしに良いことである。わたしは主なる神をわが避け所として、あなたのもろもろのみわざを宣べ伝えるであろう。
