Psalms 56
1 For the Chief Musician; set to Jonath elem rehokim. [A Psalm] of David: Michtam: when the Philistines took him in Gath. Be merciful unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up: all the day long he fighting oppresseth me.
Untuk pemimpin kor. Menurut lagu: Merpati yang membisu, dari daerah yang jauh. Mazmur Daud ketika orang Filistin menangkap dia di Gat. Kasihanilah aku, ya Allah, sebab aku diserang, terus-menerus aku ditindas musuh-musuhku.
2 Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long: for they be many that fight proudly against me.
Sepanjang hari aku diinjak-injak lawanku; banyaklah yang memusuhi aku, ya Allah Yang Mahatinggi.
3 What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee.
Waktu aku takut, aku berharap kepada-Mu.
4 In God I will praise his word: in God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can flesh do unto me?
Aku memuji Allah karena apa yang Ia janjikan; aku percaya kepada-Nya, maka aku tak takut, manusia tidak berdaya terhadapku.
5 All the day long they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.
Sepanjang hari musuh mengacaukan perkaraku, terus-menerus mereka berusaha mencelakakan aku.
6 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, even as they have waited for my soul.
Mereka bergerombol di tempat tersembunyi, mengamat-amati segala yang kulakukan, dan mencari kesempatan untuk membunuh aku.
7 Shall they escape by iniquity? in anger cast down the peoples, O God.
Adakah keselamatan bagi kejahatan mereka? Binasakanlah mereka dalam kemarahan-Mu, ya Allah!
8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle; are they not in thy book?
Engkau menghitung hari-hari pengembaraanku, dan tahu jumlah air mataku; tidakkah Engkau memperhitungkannya?
9 Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call: this I know, that God is for me.
Pada hari aku berseru kepada-Mu, musuh akan dipukul mundur, sebab aku tahu Allah memihak aku.
10 In God will I praise [his] word: in the LORD will I praise [his] word.
Aku memuji TUHAN Allah, karena apa yang Ia janjikan.
11 In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can man do unto me?
Aku percaya kepada-Nya, maka aku tak takut, manusia tidak berdaya terhadapku.
12 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render thank offerings unto thee.
Aku akan menepati janjiku kepada-Mu, ya Allah, dan mempersembahkan kurban syukur kepada-Mu.
13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: [hast thou] not [delivered] my feet from falling? that I may walk before God in the light of the living.
Sebab Engkau meluputkan aku dari maut, Kaujaga aku supaya tidak jatuh. Maka aku boleh hidup dalam perlindungan Allah, dalam cahaya yang menerangi semua yang hidup.
