Psalms 56

1 For the Chief Musician; set to Jonath elem rehokim. [A Psalm] of David: Michtam: when the Philistines took him in Gath. Be merciful unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up: all the day long he fighting oppresseth me.

Dem Sangmeister nach Jonatholem rechokim. Ein Goldlied von David, da ihn die Philister zu Gath ergriffen hatten. Sei mir gnädig, o Gott; denn der Mensch schnappt nach mir. Den ganzen Tag streitend will er mich unterdrücken.

2 Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long: for they be many that fight proudly against me.

Den ganzen Tag schnappen meine Gegner; denn viele streiten wider mich in der Höhe.

3 What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee.

Den Tag, da ich mich fürchte, will ich auf Dich vertrauen.

4 In God I will praise his word: in God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can flesh do unto me?

In Gott rühme ich Sein Wort, auf Gott vertraue ich, nicht fürchte ich, was mir das Fleisch kann tun.

5 All the day long they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

Den ganzen Tag fechten sie meine Worte an; alle ihre Gedanken sind wider mich zum Bösen.

6 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, even as they have waited for my soul.

Sie rotten sich zusammen, verbergen sich, halten auf meine Fersen, wenn sie auf meine Seele warten.

7 Shall they escape by iniquity? in anger cast down the peoples, O God.

Wegen ihres Unrechts sollen sie entkommen? Im Zorne unterwirf Dir die Völker, o Gott!

8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle; are they not in thy book?

Mein Entfliehen zählst Du, tue meine Träne in Deinen Schlauch. Sind sie nicht in Deiner Zahl?

9 Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call: this I know, that God is for me.

Dann müssen meine Feinde hinter sich zurückkehren, am Tage, da ich rufe: Das weiß ich, daß Gott für mich ist.

10 In God will I praise [his] word: in the LORD will I praise [his] word.

In Gott rühme ich das Wort, in Jehovah rühme ich das Wort.

11 In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can man do unto me?

Auf Gott vertraue ich, ich fürchte mich nicht, was kann der Mensch mir tun?

12 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render thank offerings unto thee.

Auf mir sind Deine Gelübde, o Gott, ich will Dir Dankopfer bezahlen.

13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: [hast thou] not [delivered] my feet from falling? that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

Denn Du hast meine Seele vom Tod errettet, meine Füße von dem Anstoß, daß ich vor Gott wandle im Lichte der Lebendigen.
