Psalms 52

1 For the Chief Musician. Maschil of David: when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the mercy of God [endureth] continually.

聖歌隊の指揮者によってうたわせたダビデのマスキールの歌。これはエドムびとドエグがサウルにきて、「ダビデはアヒメレクの家にきた」と告げたときにダビデがよんだもの 力ある者よ、何ゆえあなたは神を敬う人に与えた災について誇るのか。あなたはひねもす人を滅ぼすことをたくらむ。

2 Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

虚偽を行う者よ、あなたの舌は鋭いかみそりのようだ。

3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. (Selah)

あなたは善よりも悪を好み、まことを語るよりも偽りを語ることを好む。 (セラ)

4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.

欺きの舌よ、あなたはすべての滅ぼす言葉を好む。

5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent, and root thee out of the land of the living. (Selah)

しかし神はとこしえにあなたを砕き、あなたを捕えて、その天幕から引き離し、生ける者の地から、あなたの根を絶やされる。 (セラ)

6 The righteous also shall see [it], and fear, and shall laugh at him, [saying],

正しい者はこれを見て恐れ、彼を笑って言うであろう、

7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

「神をおのが避け所とせず、その富の豊かなるを頼み、その宝に寄り頼む人を見よ」と。

8 But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

しかし、わたしは神の家にある緑のオリブの木のようだ。わたしは世々かぎりなく神のいつくしみを頼む。

9 I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good, in the presence of thy saints.

あなたがこの事をなされたので、わたしはとこしえに、あなたに感謝し、聖徒の前であなたのみ名をふれ示そう。これはよいことだからである。
