< Psalms 44 >

1 For the Chief Musician; [a Psalm] of the sons of Korah. Maschil. We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the days of old.
2 Thou didst drive out the nations with thy hand, and plantedst them in; thou didst afflict the peoples, and didst spread them abroad.
Ie am-pità’o ty nandroake o fifeheañeo le najado’o eo; dinemo’o ondatio, vaho naparatsia’o.
3 For they gat not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
Tsy ty fibara’ iareo ty nahazoañe i taney; le tsy o fità’ iareoo ty naharombake, fa ty fità’o havana naho ty sira’o, vaho ty hazavan-dahara’o amy t’ie nisohe’o.
4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverance for Jacob.
Mpanjakako rehe, ry Andrianañahare; lilio fandrombahañe t’Iakobe.
5 Through thee will we push down our adversaries: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
Ihe ro igorea’ay o rafelahi’aio; ty tahina’o ty andialià’ay o mitroatse hiatreatre anaio.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
Tsy iatoako ty faleko, tsy maharombak’ ahy ty fibarako.
7 But thou hast saved us from our adversaries, and hast put them to shame that hate us.
Fa Ihe ro nandrombak’ anay amo rafelahi’aio, naho nanalatse o malaiñe anaio.
8 In God have we made our boast all the day long, and we will give thanks unto thy name for ever. (Selah)
I Andrianañahare ro firengea’ay lomoñandro, vaho andriañe’ay nainai’e ty tahina’o. Selà
9 But now thou hast cast [us] off, and brought us to dishonour; and goest not forth with our hosts.
F’ie nifarie’o henaneo, naho ninje’o; tsy indreze’o fionjonañe o lahindefo’aio.
10 Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
Ampiambohoe’o amo rafelahi’aio, vaho mamaok’ an-tsatri’e avao o malaiñe anaio,
11 Thou hast given us like sheep [appointed] for meat; and hast scattered us among the nations.
Fa natolo’o ho añondry kamaeñe, vaho nampivarakaihe’o amo fifeheañeo.
12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and hast not increased [thy wealth] by their price.
Naleta’o ami’ty minjilite’e ondati’oo, tsy nahazoan-tombo’e t’ie naletake.
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
Nampañinje’o o mpifankarineo, fanivetiveañe naho fandrabioñañe amo mañohok’ anaio.
14 Thou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
Anoe’o oha-drehake o fifeheañeo, fikoliñan-doha am’ondatio.
15 All the day long is my dishonour before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
Fañinjeañe lomoñandro ty aoloko eo, vaho nampikolopok’ ahy ty hameñaran-tareheko,
16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the avenger.
ami’ty fivola’ o mikobìke naho mamàtseo; ty amy fiatrefan-drafelahiy vaho i mpamale-fatey.
17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
Toe hene nifetsak’ ama’ay, f’ie tsy nañaliño Azo, vaho tsy nivalik’ amy fañina’oy.
18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
Toe tsy niamboho Azo o arofo’aio, vaho tsy niveve amy lala’oy o fandia’aio,
19 That thou hast sore broken us in the place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
f’ie dinemo’o an-toem-panalok’ eo, vaho kinolopo’o an-talinjon-kavilasy.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god;
Aa naho nandikofa’ay ty tahinan’Añahare’ay, ke namela-pitàñe aman-drahare ankafankafa;
21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
Tsy ho nitsikarahen’ Añahare hao? Kanao arofoana’e ze mikafitse an-trok’ao.
22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
Eka, Ihe ro anjamanañe anay handro am-pohatse; volilieñe hoe añondry ho lentañe.
23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast [us] not off for ever.
Mivañona, ry Talè, Ino ty irota’o? Mitsekafa, ko farie’o kitro katroke zahay.
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
Akore ty ampietaha’o laharañe, naho añaliñoa’o ty hasotria’ay vaho ty halovilovia’ay?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
Fa mibokok’ an-debok’ ao ty fiai’ay; mipitek’ an-tane eo ty fisafoa’ay.
26 Rise up for our help, and redeem us for thy lovingkindness’ sake.
Miongaha hañolotse anay, vaho jebaño ty amy fiferenaiña’oy.
