Psalms 40

1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

۱ برای سالار مغنیان. مزمور داود انتظار بسیار برای خداوند کشیده‌ام، وبه من مایل شده، فریاد مرا شنید.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay; and he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

۲ و مرااز چاه هلاکت برآورد و از گل لجن و پایهایم را برصخره گذاشته، قدمهایم را مستحکم گردانید.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

۳ وسرودی تازه در دهانم گذارد یعنی حمد خدای ما را. بسیاری چون این را بینند ترسان شده، برخداوند توکل خواهند کرد.

4 Blessed is the man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

۴ خوشابحال کسی‌که بر خداوند توکل دارد و به متکبران ظالم ومرتدان دروغ مایل نشود.

5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be set in order unto thee; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

۵ ‌ای یهوه خدای ما چه بسیار است کارهای عجیب که تو کرده‌ای وتدبیرهایی که برای ما نموده‌ای. در نزد تو آنها راتقویم نتوان کرد، اگر آنها را تقریر و بیان بکنم، ازحد شمار زیاده است.

6 Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

۶ در قربانی و هدیه رغبت نداشتی. اما گوشهای مرا باز کردی. قربانی سوختنی و قربانی گناه را نخواستی.

7 Then said I, Lo, I am come; in the roll of the book it is written of me:

۷ آنگاه گفتم: «اینک می‌آیم! در طومار کتاب درباره من نوشته شده است.

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God; yea, thy law is within my heart.

۸ در بجا آوردن اراده تو‌ای خدای من رغبت می‌دارم و شریعت تو در اندرون دل من است.»

9 I have published righteousness in the great congregation; lo, I will not refrain my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

۹ در جماعت بزرگ به عدالت بشارت داده‌ام. اینک لبهای خود را باز نخواهم داشت وتو‌ای خداوند می‌دانی.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

۱۰ عدالت تو را در دل خود مخفی نداشته‌ام. امانت و نجات تو را بیان کرده‌ام. رحمت و راستی تو را از جماعت بزرگ پنهان نکرده‌ام.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

۱۱ پس تو‌ای خداوند لطف خودرا از من باز مدار. رحمت و راستی تو دائم مرامحافظت کند.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about, mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head, and my heart hath failed me.

۱۲ زیرا که بلایای بیشمار مرااحاطه می‌کند. گناهانم دور مرا گرفته است به حدی که نمی توانم دید. از مویهای سر من زیاده است و دل من مرا ترک کرده است.

13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: make haste to help me, O LORD.

۱۳ ‌ای خداوند مرحمت فرموده، مرا نجات بده. ای خداوند به اعانت من تعجیل فرما.

14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it: let them be turned backward and brought to dishonour that delight in my hurt.

۱۴ آنانی که قصد هلاکت جان من دارند، جمیع خجل و شرمنده شوند. و آنانی که در بدی من رغبت دارند، به عقب برگردانیده و رسوا گردند.

15 Let them be desolate by reason of their shame that say unto me, Aha, Aha.

۱۵ آنانی که بر من هه هه می‌گویند، به‌سبب خجالت خویش حیران شوند.

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

۱۶ و اما جمیع طالبان تو در تو وجد و شادی نمایند و آنانی که نجات تو را دوست دارند، دائم گویند که خداوند بزرگ است.

17 But I am poor and needy; [yet] the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

۱۷ و اما من مسکین و فقیرهستم و خداوند درباره من تفکر می‌کند. تو معاون و نجات‌دهنده من هستی. ای خدای من، تاخیرمفرما.
