< Psalms 21 >

1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
The King (Messiah [Anointed one]) rejoices in your strength, Adonai! How greatly he rejoices in your yishu'ah ·salvation·!
2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. (Selah)
You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of fine gold on his head.
For you meet him with the blessings of goodness. You set a crown of fine gold on his head.
4 He asked life of thee, thou gavest it him; even length of days for ever and ever.
He asked life of you, you gave it to him, even length of days forever and ever.
5 His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty dost thou lay upon him.
His kavod ·weighty glory· is great in your yishu'ah ·salvation·. You lay honor and majesty on him.
6 For thou makest him most blessed for ever: thou makest him glad with joy in thy presence.
For you make him most blessed forever. You make him glad with joy in your presence.
7 For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the lovingkindness of the Most High he shall not be moved.
For the king trusts in Adonai. Through the cheshed ·loving-kindness· of haElyon [the Most High], he shall not be moved.
8 Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
Your hand will find out all of your enemies. Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thine anger. The LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
You will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger. Adonai will swallow them up in his wrath. The fire shall devour them.
10 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from among the children of men.
11 For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a device, which they are not able to perform.
For they intended evil against you. They plotted evil against you which cannot succeed.
12 For thou shalt make them turn their back, thou shalt make ready with thy bowstrings against the face of them.
For you will make them turn their back, when you aim drawn bows at their face.
13 Be thou exalted, O LORD, in thy strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.
Be exalted, Adonai, in your strength, so we will sing zahmar ·musical praise· to your power.
