Psalms 19
1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
聖歌隊の指揮者によってうたわせたダビデの歌 もろもろの天は神の栄光をあらわし、大空はみ手のわざをしめす。
2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
この日は言葉をかの日につたえ、この夜は知識をかの夜につげる。
3 There is no speech nor language; their voice cannot be heard.
話すことなく、語ることなく、その声も聞えないのに、
4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
その響きは全地にあまねく、その言葉は世界のはてにまで及ぶ。神は日のために幕屋を天に設けられた。
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course.
日は花婿がその祝のへやから出てくるように、また勇士が競い走るように、その道を喜び走る。
6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
それは天のはてからのぼって、天のはてにまで、めぐって行く。その暖まりをこうむらないものはない。
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
主のおきては完全であって、魂を生きかえらせ、主のあかしは確かであって、無学な者を賢くする。
8 The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
主のさとしは正しくて、心を喜ばせ、主の戒めはまじりなくて、眼を明らかにする。
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true, [and] righteous altogether.
主を恐れる道は清らかで、とこしえに絶えることがなく、主のさばきは真実であって、ことごとく正しい。
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
これらは金よりも、多くの純金よりも慕わしく、また蜜よりも、蜂の巣のしたたりよりも甘い。
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: in keeping of them there is great reward.
あなたのしもべは、これらによって戒めをうける。これらを守れば、大いなる報いがある。
12 Who can discern [his] errors? clear thou me from hidden [faults].
だれが自分のあやまちを知ることができましようか。どうか、わたしを隠れたとがから解き放ってください。
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be perfect, and I shall be clear from great transgression.
また、あなたのしもべを引きとめて、故意の罪を犯させず、これに支配されることのないようにしてください。そうすれば、わたしはあやまちのない者となって、大いなるとがを免れることができるでしょう。
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my rock, and my redeemer.
わが岩、わがあがないぬしなる主よ、どうか、わたしの口の言葉と、心の思いがあなたの前に喜ばれますように。
