Psalms 19

1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen. Die Himmel erzählen die Ehre Gottes, und die Feste verkündiget seiner Hände Werk.

2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

Ein Tag sagt's dem andern, und eine Nacht tut's kund der andern.

3 There is no speech nor language; their voice cannot be heard.

Es ist keine Sprache noch Rede, da man nicht ihre Stimme höre.

4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Ihre Schnur gehet aus in alle Lande und ihre Rede an der Welt Ende; er hat der Sonne eine Hütte in denselben gemacht.

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course.

Und dieselbe gehet heraus, wie ein Bräutigam aus seiner Kammer, und freuet sich wie ein Held, zu laufen den Weg.

6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Sie gehet auf an einem Ende des Himmels und läuft um bis wieder an dasselbe Ende; und bleibt nichts vor ihrer Hitze verborgen.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Das Gesetz des HERRN ist ohne Wandel und erquicket die Seele. Das Zeugnis des HERRN ist gewiß und macht die Albernen weise.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Die Befehle des HERRN sind richtig und erfreuen das Herz. Die Gebote des HERRN sind lauter und erleuchten die Augen.

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true, [and] righteous altogether.

Die Furcht des HERRN ist rein und bleibt ewiglich. Die Rechte des HERRN sind wahrhaftig, allesamt gerecht.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Sie sind köstlicher denn Gold und viel feines Gold; sie sind süßer denn Honig und Honigseim.

11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: in keeping of them there is great reward.

Auch wird dein Knecht durch sie erinnert; und wer sie hält, der hat großen Lohn.

12 Who can discern [his] errors? clear thou me from hidden [faults].

Wer kann merken, wie oft er fehlet? Verzeihe mir die verborgenen Fehle!

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be perfect, and I shall be clear from great transgression.

Bewahre auch deinen Knecht vor den Stolzen, daß sie nicht über mich herrschen; so werde ich ohne Wandel sein und unschuldig bleiben großer Missetat.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my rock, and my redeemer.
