Psalms 135

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise [him], O ye servants of the LORD:

Louez l’Éternel! Louez le nom de l’Éternel, Louez-le, serviteurs de l’Éternel,

2 Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.

Qui vous tenez dans la maison de l’Éternel, Dans les parvis de la maison de notre Dieu!

3 Praise ye the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

Louez l’Éternel! Car l’Éternel est bon. Chantez à son nom! Car il est favorable.

4 For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, [and] Israel for his peculiar treasure.

Car l’Éternel s’est choisi Jacob, Israël, pour qu’il lui appartînt.

5 For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

Je sais que l’Éternel est grand, Et que notre Seigneur est au-dessus de tous les dieux.

6 Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that hath he done, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.

Tout ce que l’Éternel veut, il le fait, Dans les cieux et sur la terre, Dans les mers et dans tous les abîmes.

7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth forth the wind out of his treasuries.

Il fait monter les nuages des extrémités de la terre, Il produit les éclairs et la pluie, Il tire le vent de ses trésors.

8 Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.

Il frappa les premiers-nés de l’Égypte, Depuis les hommes jusqu’aux animaux.

9 He sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

Il envoya des signes et des miracles au milieu de toi, Égypte! Contre Pharaon et contre tous ses serviteurs.

10 Who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings;

Il frappa des nations nombreuses, Et tua des rois puissants,

11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:

Sihon, roi des Amoréens, Og, roi de Basan, Et tous les rois de Canaan;

12 And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.

Et il donna leur pays en héritage, En héritage à Israël, son peuple.

13 Thy name, O LORD, [endureth] for ever; thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.

Éternel! Ton nom subsiste à toujours, Éternel! ta mémoire dure de génération en génération.

14 For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself concerning his servants.

Car l’Éternel jugera son peuple, Et il aura pitié de ses serviteurs.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

Les idoles des nations sont de l’argent et de l’or, Elles sont l’ouvrage de la main des hommes.

16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

Elles ont une bouche et ne parlent point, Elles ont des yeux et ne voient point,

17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

Elles ont des oreilles et n’entendent point, Elles n’ont point de souffle dans leur bouche.

18 They that make them shall be like unto them; yea, every one that trusteth in them.

Ils leur ressemblent, ceux qui les fabriquent, Tous ceux qui se confient en elles.

19 O house of Israel, bless ye the LORD: O house of Aaron, bless ye the LORD:

Maison d’Israël, bénissez l’Éternel! Maison d’Aaron, bénissez l’Éternel!

20 O house of Levi, bless ye the LORD: ye that fear the LORD, bless ye the LORD.

Maison de Lévi, bénissez l’Éternel! Vous qui craignez l’Éternel, bénissez l’Éternel!

21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, who dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

Que de Sion l’on bénisse l’Éternel, Qui habite à Jérusalem! Louez l’Éternel!
