Psalms 115

1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.

Pas à nous, Yahvé, pas à nous, mais que ton nom soit glorifié, pour ta bonté et pour l'amour de ta vérité.

2 Wherefore should the nations say, Where is now their God?

Pourquoi les nations diraient-elles, « Où est leur Dieu, maintenant? »

3 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he pleased.

Mais notre Dieu est dans les cieux. Il fait ce qui lui plaît.

4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

Leurs idoles sont l'argent et l'or, le travail de la main de l'homme.

5 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

Ils ont une bouche, mais ils ne parlent pas. Ils ont des yeux, mais ils ne voient pas.

6 They have ears, but they hear not; noses have they, but they smell not;

Ils ont des oreilles, mais ils n'entendent pas. Ils ont un nez, mais ils ne sentent pas.

7 They have hands, but they handle not; feet have they, but they walk not; neither speak they through their throat.

Ils ont des mains, mais ils ne sentent pas. Ils ont des pieds, mais ils ne marchent pas, ils ne parlent pas non plus par la gorge.

8 They that make them shall be like unto them; yea, every one that trusteth in them.

Ceux qui les font seront comme eux; oui, tous ceux qui ont confiance en eux.

9 O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Israël, aie confiance en Yahvé! Il est leur aide et leur bouclier.

10 O house of Aaron, trust ye in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Maison d'Aaron, ayez confiance en Yahvé! Il est leur aide et leur bouclier.

11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Vous qui craignez Yahvé, ayez confiance en Yahvé! Il est leur aide et leur bouclier.

12 The LORD hath been mindful of us; he will bless [us]: he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.

Yahvé se souvient de nous. Il nous bénira. Il bénira la maison d'Israël. Il bénira la maison d'Aaron.

13 He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.

Il bénira ceux qui craignent Yahvé, à la fois petites et grandes.

14 The LORD increase you more and more, you and your children.

Que Yahvé vous augmente de plus en plus, vous et vos enfants.

15 Blessed are ye of the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

Vous êtes bénis par Yahvé, qui a fait le ciel et la terre.

16 The heavens are the heavens of the LORD; but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

Les cieux sont les cieux de l'Éternel, mais il a donné la terre aux enfants des hommes.

17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence;

Les morts ne louent pas Yahvé, ni ceux qui descendent dans le silence,

18 But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise ye the LORD.

mais nous bénirons Yah, à partir de maintenant et pour toujours. Louez Yah!
