Proverbs 28
1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
Fogem os ímpios, sem que ninguém os persiga; mas qualquer justo está confiado como o filho do leão.
2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by men of understanding [and] knowledge the state [thereof] shall be prolonged.
Pela transgressão da terra são muitos os seus príncipes, mas por homens prudentes e entendidos a sua continuação será prolongada.
3 A needy man that oppresseth the poor is [like] a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
O homem pobre que oprime aos pobres é como chuva impetuosa, com que há falta de pão.
4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
Os que deixam a lei louvam o ímpio; porém os que guardam a lei pelejam contra eles.
5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
Os homens maus não entendem o juízo, mas os que buscam ao Senhor entendem tudo.
6 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in [his] ways, though he be rich.
Melhor é o pobre que anda na sua sinceridade do que o perverso de caminhos, ainda que seja rico.
7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of gluttonous men shameth his father.
O que guarda a lei é filho entendido, mas o companheiro dos comilões envergonha a seu pai.
8 He that augmenteth his substance by usury and increase, gathereth it for him that hath pity on the poor.
O que aumenta a sua fazenda com usura e onzena, o ajunta para o que se compadece do pobre.
9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
O que desvia os seus ouvidos de ouvir a lei até a sua oração será abominável.
10 Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the perfect shall inherit good.
O que faz com que os retos errem num mau caminho ele mesmo cairá na sua cova: mas os bons herdarão o bem.
11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
O homem rico é sábio aos seus próprios olhos, mas o pobre que é entendido o esquadrinha.
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
Quando os justos exultam, grande é a glória; mas quando os ímpios sobem, os homens se andam escondendo.
13 He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.
O que encobre as suas transgressões nunca prosperará, mas o que as confessa e deixa alcançará misericórdia.
14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
Bem-aventurado o homem que continuamente teme: mas o que endurece o seu coração virá a cair no mal.
15 [As] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; [so is] a wicked ruler over a poor people.
Como leão bramante, e urso faminto, assim é o ímpio que domina sobre um povo pobre.
16 The prince that lacketh understanding is also a great oppressor: [but] he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
O príncipe falto de inteligência também multiplica as opressões, mas o que aborrece a avareza prolongará os seus dias.
17 A man that is laden with the blood of any person shall flee unto the pit; let no man stay him.
O homem carregado do sangue de qualquer pessoa fugirá até à cova: ninguém o retenha.
18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be delivered: but he that is perverse in [his] ways shall fall at once.
O que anda sinceramente salvar-se-a, mas o perverso em seus caminhos cairá logo.
19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain [persons] shall have poverty enough.
O que lavrar a sua terra virá a fartar-se de pão, mas o que segue a ociosos se fartará de pobreza.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be unpunished.
O homem fiel abundará em bençãos, mas o que se apressa a enriquecer não será inocente.
21 To have respect of persons is not good: neither that a man should transgress for a piece of bread.
Ter respeito à aparência de pessoas não é bom, porque até por um bocado de pão prevaricará o homem
22 He that hath an evil eye hasteth after riches, and knoweth not that want shall come upon him.
O que se apressa a enriquecer é homem de mau olho, porém não sabe que há de vir sobre ele a pobreza.
23 He that rebuketh a man shall afterward find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
O que repreende ao homem depois achará mais favor do que aquele que lisongeia com a língua.
24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.
O que rouba a seu pai, ou a sua mãe, e diz: Não há transgressão; companheiro é do homem dissipador.
25 He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
O altivo de ânimo levanta contendas, mas o que confia no Senhor engordará.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
O que confia no seu coração é insensato, mas o que anda em sabedoria ele escapará.
27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
O que dá ao pobre não terá necessidade, mas o que esconde os seus olhos terá muitas maldições.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
Quando os ímpios se elevam, os homens se andam escondendo, mas quando perecem, os justos se multiplicam.
