Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Не хвали се сутрашњим даном, јер не знаш шта ће дан донети.
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Нека те хвали други, а не твоја уста, туђин, а не твоје усне.
3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool’s vexation is heavier than them both.
Тежак је камен, и песак је тежак; али је гнев безумников тежи од обога.
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before jealousy?
Јарост је немилостива, и гнев је плах; али ко ће одолети зависти?
5 Better is open rebuke than love that is hidden.
Бољи је јавни укор него тајна љубав.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend: but the kisses of an enemy are profuse.
Ударци од пријатеља истинити су, а целиви ненавидникови лажни.
7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb: but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
Душа сита гази саће, а гладној души слатко је све што је горко.
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
Каква је птица која одлети из свог гнезда, такав је човек који отиде из свог места.
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend [that cometh] of hearty counsel.
Уље и кад весели срце, тако је пријатељ сладак саветом срдачним.
10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; and go not to thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Не остављај пријатеља свог ни пријатеља оца свог, и у кућу брата свог не улази у несрећи својој: бољи је сусед близу него брат далеко.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
Сине мој, буди мудар и обрадуј срце моје, да имам шта одговорити ономе ко ме ружи.
12 A prudent man seeth the evil, [and] hideth himself: [but] the simple pass on, [and] suffer for it.
Паметан човек види зло и склони се, а луди иду даље и плаћају.
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and hold him in pledge [that is surety] for a strange woman.
Узми хаљину ономе који се подјемчи за туђина, и узми залог од њега за туђинку.
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
Ко благосиља пријатеља свог на глас рано устајући, примиће му се за клетву.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike:
Непрестано капање кад је велик дажд, и жена свадљива, једно су;
16 He that would restrain her restraineth the wind, and his right hand encountereth oil.
Ко је уставља, уставља ветар, и она се одаје као мирисаво уље у десници.
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Гвожђе се гвожђем оштри, тако човек оштри лице пријатеља свог.
18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
Ко чува смокву, јешће род њен; тако ко чува господара свог, биће поштован.
19 As in water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.
Како је у води лице према лицу, тако је срце човечије према човеку.
Гроб и пропаст никада се не могу заситити, тако очи човечије никада нису сите. (Sheol h7585)
21 The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, and a man is [tried] by his praise.
Сребро у топионици и злато у пећи а човек у устима оног који га хвали познаје се.
22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle among bruised corn, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
Да безумнога туцаш у ступи с тучком с прекрупом, не би отишло од њега безумље његово.
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, [and] look well to thy herds:
Добро гледај стоку своју и старај се за стада своја.
24 For riches are not for ever; and doth the crown endure unto all generations?
Јер богатство не траје довека нити круна од колена до колена.
25 The hay is carried, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and the herbs of the mountains are gathered in.
Кад трава нарасте и покаже се зелен, купи се трава по планинама.
26 The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field:
Јагањци су ти за одело, и јарићи цена за њиву.
27 And [there will be] goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household; and maintenance for thy maidens.
И доста има млека козјег теби за јело, и за јело твом дому и за храну твојим девојкама.
