Malachi 2
1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.
An euch ergeht demgemäß nun die folgende Anweisung, ihr Priester:
2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, then will I send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
Wenn ihr nicht hört und es euch nicht von Herzen angelegen sein laßt, meinem Namen Ehre zu geben, spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, so entsende ich wider euch den Fluch und verfluche eure Gefälle; ja, ich habe sie bereits so gut wie verflucht, weil es euch gar nicht am Herzen liegt.
3 Behold, I will rebuke the seed for your sake, and will spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your sacrifices; and ye shall be taken away with it.
Fürwahr, ich werde euch den Arm verwünschen und lähmen und euch Unrat ins Gesicht streuen, den Unrat eurer Feste, und euch zu ihm hinausschaffen!
4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
Dann werdet ihr zur Einsicht kommen, daß ich diese Anweisung an euch erlassen habe, damit mein Bund mit Levi bestehen bleibe, spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen.
5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him that he might fear, and he feared me, and stood in awe of my name.
Der Bund, den ich mit ihm eingegangen war, verhießt ihm Leben und Glück, und ich gab ihm beides als Grund zur Ehrfurcht, und er fürchtete mich und war voll Scheu vor meinem Namen.
6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and uprightness, and did turn many away from iniquity.
Wahrhaftige Weisung war in seinem Munde, und kein Falsch war auf seinen Lippen zu finden; in Unsträflichkeit und Geradheit wandelte er nach meinem Willen und brachte viele ab von Ungerechtigkeit.
7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
Denn eines Priesters Lippen sollen sich an die rechte Lehre halten, und Unterweisung erwartet man aus seinem Munde; denn der Gesandte Jahwes der Heerscharen ist er.
8 But ye are turned aside out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble in the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
Ihr aber seid vom Wege abgewichen, habt mit eurer Unterweisung viele zu Fall gebracht; ihr habt den Bund mit Levi zerstört, spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen.
9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have had respect of persons in the law.
Darum habe nun auch ich euch bei allem Volk in tiefe Verachtung gebracht, weil ihr euch ja doch nicht an meine Wege haltet und euch bei eurer Unterweisung parteiisch zeigt.
10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, profaning the covenant of our fathers?
haben wir denn nicht alle denselben Vater? Hat nicht ein und derselbe Gott uns erschaffen? Warum handeln wir denn treulos gegeneinander, so daß wir den Bund unserer Väter entweihen?
11 Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loveth, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
Treubruch hat Juda begangen, und Greuel sind in Israel und zu Jerusalem verübt worden; denn Juda hat, was Jahwe heilig war, entweiht, indem es Töchter eines fremden Gottes liebgewonnen und gefreit hat.
12 The LORD will cut off to the man that doeth this him that waketh and him that answereth, out of the tents of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
Möge Jahwe jeden, der solches verübt, Kläger und Verteidiger in den Zelten Jakobs und solche, die Jahwe der Heerscharen Opfergaben darbringen, ausrotten!
13 And this again ye do: ye cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, neither receiveth it with good will at your hand.
Zum Zweiten aber thut ihr Folgendes: Ihr bedeckt den Altar Jahwes mit Thränen, mit Weinen und Schluchzen, weil von einem freundlichen Blick auf die Opfer und von einer Entgegennahme wohlgefälliger Gaben aus eurer Hand nicht mehr die Rede sein kann.
14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, though she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
Ihr fragt noch: Warum? Darum, weil Jahwe Zeuge war bei dem Eingehen des Bundes zwischen dir und dem Weibe deiner Jugend, der du nun die Treue gebrochen hast, obschon sie deine Lebensgefährtin und deine durch feierliche Gelübde mit dir verbundene Gattin war.
15 And did he not make one, although he had the residue of the spirit? And wherefore one? He sought a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Hat nicht einer und derselbe uns das Leben gegeben und erhalten? Und was verlangt der eine? Kinder Gottes! So hütet euch wohl in eurem Sinn, und dem Weibe deiner Jugend werde nie die Treue gebrochen!
16 For I hate putting away, saith the LORD, the God of Israel, and him that covereth his garment with violence, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
Denn ich hasse Scheidung, spricht Jahwe, der Gott Israels, und den, der sein Gewand mit Frevel bedeckt, spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen; darum hütet euch wohl in eurem Sinn und brecht niemals die Treue!
17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? In that ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or where is the God of judgment?
Ihr habt Jahwe viel geärgert mit euren Reden und ihr fragt noch: Wiefern haben wir ihn geärgert? Damit, daß ihr sprecht: Jeder, der übel thut, ist Jahwe wohlgefällig, und an solchen hat er seine Freude, oder wo ist denn sonst der Gott des Gerichts?
