Joshua 1
1 Now it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
Después de la muerte de Moisés, siervo del Señor, el Señor habló a Josué hijo de Nun, ayudante de Moisés, y le dijo:
2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
«Mi siervo Moisés ha muerto. Ahora levántate, cruza el Jordán con todo este pueblo y entra en la tierra que estoy dando a los hijos de Israel.
3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it, as I spake unto Moses.
Les he dado todo lugar donde pongan el pie, como le dije a Moisés.
4 From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.
Su territorio se extenderá desde el desierto y el Líbano hasta el gran río Éufrates, incluyendo toda la tierra de los hititas, y llegará hasta el Gran Mar al oeste.
5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee nor forsake thee.
Nadie podrá hacerte frente mientras vivas. Como estuve con Moisés, estaré contigo. No te dejaré ni te abandonaré.
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
Sé fuerte y valiente, porque tú ayudarás a este pueblo a recibir como herencia la tierra que juré dar a sus padres.
7 Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest have good success whithersoever thou goest.
Solo sé fuerte y muy valiente. Ten cuidado de cumplir toda la ley que mi siervo Moisés te dio. No te apartes de ella ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda, para que te vaya bien en todo lo que hagas.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Habla siempre de este libro de la ley y medita en él día y noche, para que tengas cuidado de cumplir todo lo que está escrito en él. Entonces te irá bien en tu camino y tendrás éxito.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
¿No te he dado esta orden? Sé fuerte y valiente. No tengas miedo ni te desanimes, porque el Señor tu Dios estará contigo dondequiera que vayas».
10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
Entonces Josué dio órdenes a los oficiales del pueblo:
11 Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
«Recorran el campamento y díganle al pueblo: “Preparen provisiones, porque dentro de tres días cruzarán este Jordán y entrarán a tomar como herencia la tierra que el Señor su Dios les está dando”».
12 And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,
Josué dijo a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés:
13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God giveth you rest, and will give you this land.
«Recuerden lo que Moisés, siervo del Señor, les dijo: “El Señor su Dios les dará descanso y les dará esta tierra”.
14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall abide in the land which Moses gave you beyond Jordan; but ye shall pass over before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and shall help them;
Sus esposas, sus hijos pequeños y su ganado se quedarán en la tierra que Moisés les dio al este del Jordán. Pero todos ustedes, los hombres de guerra, cruzarán armados delante de sus hermanos para ayudarlos,
15 until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as [he hath given] you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond Jordan toward the sunrising.
hasta que el Señor dé descanso a sus hermanos, como se lo ha dado a ustedes, y ellos también reciban como herencia la tierra que el Señor su Dios les da. Después podrán regresar a la tierra que Moisés, siervo del Señor, les dio como herencia al este del Jordán».
16 And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us we will go.
Ellos respondieron a Josué: «Haremos todo lo que nos ordenes e iremos adonde nos envíes.
17 According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
Así como obedecimos a Moisés, también te obedeceremos a ti. Solo deseamos que el Señor tu Dios esté contigo como estuvo con Moisés.
18 Whosoever he be that shall rebel against thy commandment, and shall not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
Cualquiera que se rebele contra tus órdenes y no obedezca todo lo que le mandes morirá. Solo sé fuerte y valiente».
