Joshua 1
1 Now it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
Agora após a morte de Moisés, servo de Iavé, Iavé falou a Josué, filho de Freira, servo de Moisés, dizendo:
2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
“Moisés, meu servo, está morto”. Agora, pois, levantai-vos, atravessai este Jordão, vós e todo este povo, para a terra que lhes estou dando, até mesmo aos filhos de Israel”.
3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it, as I spake unto Moses.
Eu vos dei cada lugar que a sola de vosso pé pisará, como eu disse a Moisés.
4 From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.
Do deserto e deste Líbano até o grande rio, o rio Eufrates, toda a terra dos hititas, e até o grande mar em direção ao pôr do sol, será sua fronteira.
5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee nor forsake thee.
Nenhum homem será capaz de estar diante de você todos os dias de sua vida. Como eu estive com Moisés, assim eu estarei com vocês. Não vos falharei nem vos abandonarei.
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
“Seja forte e corajoso; pois você fará com que este povo herde a terra que jurei a seus pais lhes dar.
7 Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest have good success whithersoever thou goest.
“Sejam fortes e muito corajosos. Tende o cuidado de observar para fazer de acordo com toda a lei que Moisés, meu servo, vos ordenou. Não se desvie dela para a mão direita ou para a esquerda, para que possa ter bom êxito onde quer que vá.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Este livro da lei não sairá de sua boca, mas meditará nele dia e noite, para que você possa observar para fazer de acordo com tudo o que nele está escrito; pois então você fará seu caminho prosperar, e então você terá bom êxito.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Eu não te ordenei? Seja forte e corajoso. Não tenha medo. Não se assuste, pois Yahweh seu Deus está com você onde quer que você vá”.
10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
Então Josué comandou os oficiais do povo, dizendo:
11 Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
“Passem pelo meio do acampamento e comandem o povo, dizendo: 'Preparem comida; porque dentro de três dias vocês devem passar por este Jordão, para entrar para possuir a terra que Yahweh vosso Deus vos dá para possuir'”.
12 And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,
Josué falou aos rubenitas, e aos gaditas, e à meia tribo de Manassés, dizendo:
13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God giveth you rest, and will give you this land.
“Lembrai-vos da palavra que Moisés, servo de Javé, vos ordenou, dizendo: 'Javé, vosso Deus, vos dá descanso, e vos dará esta terra.
14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall abide in the land which Moses gave you beyond Jordan; but ye shall pass over before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and shall help them;
Vossas esposas, vossos pequenos e vosso gado viverão na terra que Moisés vos deu além do Jordão; mas vós passareis diante de vossos irmãos armados, todos os homens valentes, e os ajudareis
15 until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as [he hath given] you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond Jordan toward the sunrising.
até que Javé tenha dado descanso a vossos irmãos, como ele vos deu, e eles também possuíram a terra que Javé vosso Deus lhes dá. Então retornareis à terra de vossa posse e a possuireis, que Moisés, servo de Javé, vos deu além do Jordão, em direção ao nascer do sol”.
16 And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us we will go.
Eles responderam a Joshua, dizendo: “Tudo o que você nos ordenou, faremos e para onde quer que você nos envie, iremos”.
17 According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
Assim como ouvimos Moisés em todas as coisas, também nós o ouviremos a você”. Somente Yahweh, seu Deus, possa estar com você, como estava com Moisés.
18 Whosoever he be that shall rebel against thy commandment, and shall not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
Quem se rebelar contra seu mandamento e não escutar suas palavras em tudo o que você lhe ordenar, será ele mesmo condenado à morte. Sede apenas fortes e corajosos”.
