John 4
1 When therefore the Lord knew how that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
E quando o Senhor entendeu que os fariseus tinham ouvido que Jesus fazia e batizava mais discípulos do que João
2 (although Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples),
(Ainda que Jesus mesmo não batizava, mas os seus discipulos),
3 he left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
Deixou a Judeia, e foi outra vez para a Galiléia.
4 And he must needs pass through Samaria.
E era-lhe necessário passar por Samaria.
5 So he cometh to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph:
Foi pois a uma cidade de Samaria, chamada Sicar, junto da herdade que Jacob deu a seu filho José.
6 and Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
E estava ali a fonte de Jacob; Jesus, pois, cançado do caminho, assentou-se assim junto da fonte. Era isto quase à hora sexta.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
Veio uma mulher de Samaria tirar água: disse-lhe Jesus: Dá-me de beber.
8 For his disciples were gone away into the city to buy food.
Porque os seus discípulos tinham ido à cidade comprar comida.
9 The Samaritan woman therefore saith unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a Samaritan woman? (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
Disse-lhe pois a mulher samaritana: Como, sendo tu judeu, me pedes de beber a mim, que sou mulher samaritana? (porque os judeus não se comunicam com os samaritanos)
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Se tu conheceras o dom de Deus, e quem é o que te diz: Dá-me de beber, tu lhe pedirias, e ele te daria água viva.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Disse-lhe a mulher: Senhor, tu não tens com que a tirar, e o poço é fundo: onde pois tens a água viva?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?
És tu maior do que o nosso pai Jacob, que nos deu o poço, e ele mesmo dele bebeu, e os seus filhos, e o seu gado?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Every one that drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Qualquer que beber desta água tornará a ter sede;
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come all the way hither to draw.
Disse-lhe a mulher: Senhor, dá-me dessa água, para que não mais tenha sede, e não venha aqui tira-la.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
Disse-lhe Jesus: vai, chama a teu marido, e vem cá.
17 The woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou saidst well, I have no husband:
A mulher respondeu, e disse: Não tenho marido. Disse-lhe Jesus: Disseste bem: Não tenho marido;
18 for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: this hast thou said truly.
Porque tiveste cinco maridos, e o que agora tens não é teu marido; isto disseste com verdade.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
Disse-lhe a mulher: Senhor, vejo que és profeta.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Nossos pais adoraram neste monte, e vós dizeis que é em Jerusalém o lugar onde se deve adorar.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father.
Disse-lhe Jesus: Mulher, crê-me que a hora vem, quando nem neste monte nem em Jerusalém adorareis o Pai.
22 Ye worship that which ye know not: we worship that which we know: for salvation is from the Jews.
Vós adorais o que não sabeis; nós adoramos o que sabemos porque a salvação vem dos judeus.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such doth the Father seek to be his worshippers.
Porém a hora vem, e agora é, em que os verdadeiros adoradores adorarão o Pai em espírito e em verdade; porque o Pai procura a tais que assim o adorem.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
Deus é espírito, e importa que os que o adoram o adorem em espírito e em verdade.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh (which is called Christ): when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.
A mulher disse-lhe: Eu sei que o Messias (que se chama o Cristo) vem; quando ele vier, nos anunciará todas as coisas.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am [he].
Jesus disse-lhe: Eu sou, o que falo contigo.
27 And upon this came his disciples; and they marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?
E nisto vieram os seus discípulos, e maravilharam-se de que falasse com uma mulher; todavia nenhum lhe disse: Que perguntas? ou: Que falas com ela?
28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and saith to the men,
Deixou pois a mulher o seu cântaro, e foi à cidade, e disse àqueles homens:
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that [ever] I did: can this be the Christ?
Vinde, vede um homem que me disse tudo quanto tenho feito: porventura não é este o Cristo?
30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
Sairam pois da cidade, e foram ter com ele.
31 In the mean while the disciples prayed him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
E entretanto os seus discípulos lhe rogaram, dizendo: rabi, come.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not.
Porém ele lhes disse: Uma comida tenho para comer, que vós não sabeis.
33 The disciples therefore said one to another, Hath any man brought him [aught] to eat?
Então os discípulos diziam uns aos outros: Trouxe-lhe porventura alguém de comer?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.
Jesus disse-lhes: A minha comida é fazer a vontade daquele que me enviou, e cumprir a sua obra.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white already unto harvest.
Não dizeis vós que ainda há quatro meses até que venha a ceifa? eis que eu vos digo: levantai os vossos olhos, e vede as terras, que já estão brancas para a ceifa
36 He that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal; that he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
E o que ceifa recebe galardão, e ajunta fruto para a vida eterna; para que, assim o que semeia, como o que ceifa, ambos se regozijem. (aiōnios g166)
37 For herein is the saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
Porque nisto é verdadeiro o ditado, que um é o que semeia, e outro o que ceifa.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye have not laboured: others have laboured, and ye are entered into their labour.
Eu vos enviei a ceifar onde vós não trabalhastes; outros trabalharam, e vós entrastes no seu trabalho.
39 And from that city many of the Samaritans believed on him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all things that [ever] I did.
E muitos dos samaritanos daquela cidade creram nele, pela palavra da mulher, que testificou, dizendo: Disse-me tudo quanto tenho feito.
40 So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.
Indo pois ter com ele os samaritanos, rogaram-lhe que ficasse com eles; e ficou ali dois dias.
41 And many more believed because of his word;
E muitos mais creram nele, por causa da sua palavra.
42 and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
E diziam à mulher: Já não é pelo teu dito que nós cremos; porque nós mesmos o temos ouvido, e sabemos que este é verdadeiramente o Cristo, o Salvador do mundo.
43 And after the two days he went forth from thence into Galilee.
E dois dias depois partiu dali, e foi para a Galiléia.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
Porque Jesus mesmo testificou que um profeta não tem honra na sua própria pátria.
45 So when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
Chegando pois à Galiléia, os galileus o receberam, vistas todas as coisas que fizera em Jerusalém no dia da festa; porque também eles tinham ido à festa.
46 He came therefore again unto Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
Segunda vez foi Jesus a Caná da Galiléia, onde da água fizera vinho. E havia ali um regulo, cujo filho estava enfermo em Cafarnaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought [him] that he would come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
Ouvindo este que Jesus vinha da Judeia para a Galiléia, foi ter com ele, e rogou-lhe que descesse, e curasse o seu filho, porque já estava à morte.
48 Jesus therefore said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.
Então Jesus lhe disse: Se não virdes sinais e milagres, não crereis.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
Disse-lhe o regulo: Senhor, desce, antes que meu filho morra.
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spake unto him, and he went his way.
Disse-lhe Jesus: vai, o teu filho vive. E o homem creu na palavra que Jesus lhe disse, e foi-se.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, saying, that his son lived.
E, descendo ele logo, sairam-lhe ao encontro os seus servos, e lhe anunciaram, dizendo: O teu filho vive.
52 So he inquired of them the hour when he began to amend. They said therefore unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Perguntou-lhes pois a que hora se achara melhor; e disseram-lhe: ontem às sete horas a febre o deixou.
53 So the father knew that [it was] at that hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
Entendeu pois o pai que era aquela hora a mesma em que Jesus lhe disse: O teu filho vive: e creu ele, e toda a sua casa.
54 This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judaea into Galilee.
Jesus fez este segundo sinal, quando ia da Judeia para a Galiléia.
