John 4
1 When therefore the Lord knew how that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
Wie nun der Herr inne ward, daß die Pharisäer gehört hatten, daß Jesus mehr Jünger gewinne und taufe als Johannes
2 (although Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples),
(wiewohl Jesus nicht selbst taufte, sondern seine Jünger),
3 he left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
verließ er Judäa und gieng wieder hin nach Galiläa.
4 And he must needs pass through Samaria.
Er mußte aber durch Samarien reisen.
5 So he cometh to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph:
So kommt er in eine Stadt in Samarien Namens Sychar, nahe dem Feld, welches Jakob seinem Sohne Joseph gegeben hat.
6 and Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
Es war aber daselbst eine Quelle Jakobs. Jesus nun, müde von der Wanderung, setzte sich also bei der Quelle, es war ungefähr die sechste Stunde.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
Kommt eine Frau aus Samarien, um Wasser zu schöpfen. Sagt Jesus zu ihr: gib mir zu trinken.
8 For his disciples were gone away into the city to buy food.
Denn seine Jünger waren in die Stadt gegangen, um Lebensmittel zu kaufen.
9 The Samaritan woman therefore saith unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a Samaritan woman? (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
Da sagt die Samaritische Frau zu ihm: wie magst du, der du ein Jude bist, von mir, die ich eine Samaritische Frau bin, zu trinken verlangen? (denn die Juden verkehren nicht mit den Samaritern.)
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Antwortete Jesus und sagte zu ihr: wenn du die Gabe Gottes kenntest, und wer es ist, der zu dir sagt: gib mir zu trinken, so würdest du ihn bitten und er würde dir lebendiges Wasser geben.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Sagt die Frau zu ihm: Herr, du hast keinen Schöpfeimer und der Brunnen ist tief; woher willst du das lebendige Wasser haben?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?
bist du denn mehr als unser Vater Jakob, der uns den Brunnen gegeben hat und trank daraus, er selbst und seine Söhne und seine Herden?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Every one that drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
Antwortete Jesus und sagte ihr: Jeder, der von diesem Wasser trinkt, bekommt wieder Durst.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come all the way hither to draw.
Sagt die Frau zu ihm: Herr, gib mir dieses Wasser, damit ich keinen Durst bekomme, noch hierher zu gehen brauche, um zu schöpfen.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
Sagt er zu ihr: gehe hin, rufe deinen Mann, und komme hierher.
17 The woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou saidst well, I have no husband:
Antwortete die Frau und sagte: ich habe keinen Mann. Sagt Jesus zu ihr: du hast recht gesprochen: ich habe keinen Mann.
18 for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: this hast thou said truly.
Denn fünf Männer hast du gehabt, und den du jetzt hast, der ist nicht dein Mann, darin hast du die Wahrheit gesagt.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
Sagt die Frau zu ihm: Herr, ich merke, daß du ein Prophet bist.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Unsere Väter haben auf diesem Berge angebetet, und ihr sagt, daß in Jerusalem der Ort sei, wo man anbeten soll.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father.
Sagt Jesus zu ihr: glaube mir, Weib, es kommt die Stunde, wo ihr weder auf diesem Berge noch in Jerusalem werdet den Vater anbeten.
22 Ye worship that which ye know not: we worship that which we know: for salvation is from the Jews.
Ihr betet an, was ihr nicht kennet; wir beten an, was wir kennen, weil das Heil von den Juden ist.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such doth the Father seek to be his worshippers.
Aber es kommt die Stunde und ist jetzt da, wo die wahrhaftigen Anbeter werden den Vater anbeten in Geist und Wahrheit; denn der Vater verlangt solche Anbeter.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
Gott ist Geist, und die ihn anbeten, müssen in Geist und Wahrheit anbeten.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh (which is called Christ): when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.
Sagt die Frau zu ihm: ich weiß, daß der Messias kommt (was man Christus heißt). Wenn der kommt, wird er uns alles verkünden.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am [he].
Sagt Jesus zu ihr: ich bin es, der mit dir spricht.
27 And upon this came his disciples; and they marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?
Und darüber kamen seine Jünger und verwunderten sich, daß er mit einer Frau sprach. Keiner jedoch sagte: was willst du, oder was sprichst du mit ihr?
28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and saith to the men,
Da ließ die Frau ihren Krug stehen, und gieng fort in die Stadt und sagt zu den Leuten:
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that [ever] I did: can this be the Christ?
kommt und sehet einen Menschen, der mir alles gesagt hat, was ich gethan habe. Ist das etwa der Christus?
30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
Sie giengen aus der Stadt heraus und kamen zu ihm.
31 In the mean while the disciples prayed him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
Inzwischen baten ihn die Jünger: Rabbi, iß.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not.
Er aber sagte zu ihnen: ich habe eine Speise zu essen, die ihr nicht kennt.
33 The disciples therefore said one to another, Hath any man brought him [aught] to eat?
Da sprachen die Jünger zu einander: hat ihm denn jemand zu essen gebracht?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.
Sagt Jesus zu ihnen: meine Speise ist, daß ich thue den Willen dessen, der mich gesandt hat und vollende sein Werk.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white already unto harvest.
Saget ihr nicht: es ist noch vier Monate so kommt die Ernte? siehe ich sage euch: hebet eure Augen auf, und schaut die Felder an, wie sie weiß sind zur Ernte.
36 He that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal; that he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
Schon empfängt der Schnitter seinen Lohn, und sammelt Frucht zu ewigem Leben, damit der da sät und der da erntet sich gemeinsam freuen. (aiōnios g166)
37 For herein is the saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
Denn hier hat der Spruch seine Wahrheit, daß ein anderer ist der da sät, und ein anderer der da erntet.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye have not laboured: others have laboured, and ye are entered into their labour.
Ich habe euch ausgesandt zu ernten, was ihr nicht gearbeitet habt; andere haben gearbeitet und ihr seid in ihre Arbeit eingetreten.
39 And from that city many of the Samaritans believed on him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all things that [ever] I did.
Aus jener Stadt aber faßten viele von den Samaritern Glauben an ihn, um der Rede der Frau willen, die bezeugte: er hat mir alles gesagt, was ich gethan habe.
40 So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.
Wie nun die Samariter zu ihm kamen, baten sie ihn, bei ihnen zu bleiben, und er blieb daselbst zwei Tage.
41 And many more believed because of his word;
Und noch viel mehrere lernten glauben um seines Wortes willen,
42 and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
und sagten zu der Frau: wir glauben nicht mehr deiner Rede wegen, denn wir haben selbst gehört und erkennen, daß dieser ist wahrhaftig der Heiland der Welt.
43 And after the two days he went forth from thence into Galilee.
Nach den zwei Tagen aber zog er von da weg nach Galiläa.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
(Denn Jesus hat selbst bezeugt: daß ein Prophet in seiner Vaterstadt nicht geschätzt wird.)
45 So when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
Wie er nun nach Galiläa kam, nahmen ihn die Galiläer auf, da sie alles gesehen, was er in Jerusalem am Feste gethan hatte; (denn sie kamen auch zum Fest).
46 He came therefore again unto Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
So kam er denn wieder nach Kana in Galiläa, wo er das Wasser zu Wein gemacht hatte. Und es war ein Königlicher in Kapernaum, dessen Sohn krank war.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought [him] that he would come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.
Da dieser hörte, daß Jesus aus Judäa nach Galiläa komme, gieng er zu ihm hin und bat ihn, daß er herunter käme, und seinen Sohn heilte; denn er wollte sterben.
48 Jesus therefore said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.
Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: wenn ihr nicht Zeichen und Wunder sehet, möget ihr nicht glauben.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
Sagt der Königliche zu ihm: Herr, komme herunter, ehe mein Kind stirbt.
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spake unto him, and he went his way.
Sagt Jesus zu ihm: gehe hin, dein Sohn lebt. Der Mann glaubte dem Worte, das Jesus zu ihm sagte, und gieng hin.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, saying, that his son lived.
Aber schon auf dem Wege hinunter begegneten ihm seine Knechte, und meldeten, daß sein Knabe lebe.
52 So he inquired of them the hour when he began to amend. They said therefore unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Da erforschte er von ihnen die Stunde, in der es besser mit ihm geworden. Da sagten sie ihm: gestern um die siebente Stunde verließ ihn das Fieber.
53 So the father knew that [it was] at that hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
Da erkannte der Vater, daß es in der Stunde war, in der Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: dein Sohn lebt; und er wurde glaubend und sein ganzes Haus.
54 This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judaea into Galilee.
Das war das zweite Zeichen, welches Jesus wiederum that, da er von Judäa nach Galiläa kam.
