Job 41
1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with a fish hook? or press down his tongue with a cord?
Czy lewiatana wyciągniesz wędką? Czy za jego język [wyciągniesz go] sznurem opuszczonym?
2 Canst thou put a rope into his nose? or pierce his jaw through with a hook?
Czy przewleczesz hak przez jego nozdrza? Czy kolcem przebijesz mu szczęki?
3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? or will he speak soft words unto thee?
Czy będzie cię błagać? Czy będzie z tobą rozmawiał łagodnie?
4 Will he make a covenant with thee, that thou shouldest take him for a servant for ever?
Czy zawrze z tobą przymierze? Czy przyjmiesz go za sługę na zawsze?
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
Czy będziesz z nim igrał jak z ptaszkiem? Czy uwiążesz go dla swoich córek?
6 Shall the bands [of fishermen] make traffic of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
Czy [twoi] towarzysze wyprawią sobie z niego ucztę? Czy podzielą go między siebie kupcy?
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons, or his head with fish spears?
Czy poprzebijasz jego skórę grotami albo jego głowę harpunami?
8 Lay thine hand upon him; remember the battle, and do so no more.
Połóż tylko rękę na niego i wspomnij o walce, więcej tego nie zrobisz.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
Oto nadzieja pojmania go jest złudna. Czy na sam jego widok nie zostanie człowiek powalony?
10 None is so fierce that he dare stir him up: who then is he that can stand before me?
Nikt nie odważy się go obudzić. Kto zdoła więc stanąć przede mną?
11 Who hath first given unto me, that I should repay him? [whatsoever is] under the whole heaven is mine.
Kto mi coś dał, abym mu odpłacił? [Cokolwiek znajduje się] pod całym niebem należy do mnie.
12 I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, nor his mighty strength, nor his comely proportion.
Nie będę milczał o jego członkach ani o jego potędze, ani o jego wspaniałej budowie.
13 Who can strip off his outer garment? who shall come within his double bridle?
Kto odkryje wierzch jego szaty? Kto przystąpi [do niego] z podwójnym wędzidłem?
14 Who can open the doors of his face? round about his teeth is terror.
Kto otworzy wrota jego paszczy? Groza roztacza się wokół jego zębów.
15 His strong scales are [his] pride, shut up together [as with] a close seal.
[Jego] łuski to jego pycha, ściśle spięte razem [jakby] pieczęcią.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
Jedna do drugiej tak przylega, że powietrze nie wejdzie między nie.
17 They are joined one to another; they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
Jedna z drugą jest spojona, są tak złączone, że nie można ich rozdzielić.
18 His neesings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
Przez jego kichanie błyszczy światło, a jego oczy [są] jak powieki zorzy.
19 Out of his mouth go burning torches, and sparks of fire leap forth.
Z jego paszczy wychodzą pochodnie, tryskają iskry ognia.
20 Out of his nostrils a smoke goeth, as of a seething pot and [burning] rushes.
Z jego nozdrzy wychodzi dym jak z wrzącego garnca lub kotła.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth forth from his mouth.
Jego oddech rozpala węgle, z jego paszczy wychodzi płomień.
22 In his neck abideth strength, and terror danceth before him.
W jego szyi spoczywa moc i przed nim ucieka smutek.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm upon him; they cannot be moved.
Warstwy jego ciała są spojone, tak twarde, że się nie poruszają.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, firm as the nether millstone.
Jego serce jest twarde jak kamień, tak twarde jak część dolnego kamienia młyńskiego.
25 When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid: by reason of consternation they are beside themselves.
Gdy się podnosi, drżą mocarze, a od strachu oczyszczają się.
26 If one lay at him with the sword, it cannot avail; nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.
Miecz, który go dosięga, nie ostaje się, podobnie drzewce, strzała i pancerz.
27 He counteth iron as straw, [and] brass as rotten wood.
Żelazo uważa za słomę, a miedź za zbutwiałe drewno.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
Strzała nie spłoszy go, a kamienie z procy są dla niego jak źdźbło.
29 Clubs are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the rushing of the javelin.
Oszczep uważa za słomę, a drwi sobie z szarpania włócznią.
30 His underparts are [like] sharp potsherds: he spreadeth [as it were] a threshing wain upon the mire.
Pod nim [są] ostre skorupy; w błocie ścieli [sobie wszelkimi] ostrymi rzeczami.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like ointment.
Sprawia, że głębiny wrą jak kocioł, a morze mąci jak w moździerzu.
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
Zostawia za sobą błyszczącą ścieżkę, tak że się wydaje, że głębiny mają siwiznę.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, that is made without fear.
Nie ma na ziemi jemu podobnego, który został tak stworzony, że niczego się nie boi.
34 He beholdeth every thing that is high: he is king over all the sons of pride.
Lekceważy wszelką wysoką rzecz. On jest królem nad wszystkimi synami pychy.
