Job 28
1 Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine.
Да, сребро има жице, и злато има место где се топи.
2 Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.
Гвожђе се вади из праха, и из камена се топи бронза.
3 [Man] setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out to the furthest bound the stones of thick darkness and of the shadow of death.
Мраку поставља међу, и све истражује човек до краја, и камење у тами и у сену смртном.
4 He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; they are forgotten of the foot [that passeth by]; they hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.
Река навре с места свог да јој нико не може приступити; али се одбије и одлази трудом човечјим.
5 As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.
Из земље излази хлеб, и под њом је друго, као огањ.
6 The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, and it hath dust of gold.
У камену је њеном место сафиру, а онде је прах златни.
7 That path no bird of prey knoweth, neither hath the falcon’s eye seen it:
Те стазе не зна птица, нити је виде око крагујево;
8 The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor hath the fierce lion passed thereby.
Не угази је младо зверје, нити њом прође лав.
9 He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.
На кремен диже руку своју; превраћа горе из дна.
10 He cutteth out channels among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
Из стене изводи потоке, и свашта драгоцено види Му око.
11 He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
Уставља реке да не теку, и шта је сакривено износи на видело.
12 But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
Али мудрост где се налази? И где је место разуму?
13 Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
Не зна јој човек цене, нити се находи у земљи живих.
14 The deep saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
Бездана вели: Није у мени; и море вели: Није код мене.
15 It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
Не може се дати чисто злато за њу, нити се сребро измерити у промену за њу.
16 It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
Не може се ценити златом офирским, ни драгим онихом ни сафиром.
17 Gold and glass cannot equal it: neither shall the exchange thereof be jewels of fine gold.
Не може се наједначити с њом ни злато ни кристал, нити се може променити за закладе златне.
18 No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal: yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.
Од корала и бисера нема спомена, јер је вредност мудрости већа него драгом камењу.
19 The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
Не може се с њом изједначити топаз етиопски, нити се може ценити чистим златом.
20 Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
Откуда, дакле, долази мудрост? И где је место разуму?
21 Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
Сакривена је од очију сваког живог, и од птица небеских заклоњена.
22 Destruction and Death say, We have heard a rumour thereof with our ears.
Погибао и смрт говоре: Ушима својим чусмо славу њену.
23 God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
Бог зна пут њен, и познаје место њено.
24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
Јер гледа до крајева земаљских и види све што је под свим небом.
25 To make a weight for the wind; yea, he meteth out the waters by measure.
Кад даваше ветру тежину, и мераше воду мером,
26 When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:
Кад постављаше закон дажду и пут муњи громовној.
27 Then did he see it, and declare it; he established it, yea, and searched it out.
Још је онда виде и огласи је, уреди је и претражи је.
28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
А човеку рече: Гле, страх је Божји мудрост, и уклањати се ода зла јесте разум.
