Genesis 31

1 And he heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father’s; and of that which was our father’s hath he gotten all this glory.

౧లాబాను కొడుకులు “యాకోబు మన తండ్రికి ఉన్నదంతా తీసుకుని, దాని వలన ఈ ఆస్తి అంతా సంపాదించుకున్నాడు” అని చెప్పుకోవడం యాకోబు విన్నాడు.

2 And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as beforetime.

౨అంతే గాక అతడు లాబాను ముఖం చూసినప్పుడు అది తన విషయంలో ఇంతకు ముందులాగా ప్రసన్నంగా లేదు.

3 And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.

౩అప్పుడు యెహోవా “నీ పూర్వీకుల దేశానికి, నీ బంధువుల దగ్గరికి తిరిగి వెళ్ళు. నేను నీకు తోడై ఉంటాను” అని యాకోబుతో చెప్పాడు.

4 And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,

౪యాకోబు పొలంలో తన మంద దగ్గరికి రాహేలునీ లేయానీ పిలిపించి వారితో,

5 and said unto them, I see your father’s countenance, that it is not toward me as beforetime; but the God of my father hath been with me.

౫“ఇంతకు ముందులాగా మీ నాన్న నేనంటే ఇష్టం చూపడం లేదని నాకు కనిపిస్తున్నది. అయితే నా తండ్రి దేవుడు నాకు తోడుగా ఉన్నాడు.

6 And ye know that with all my power I have served your father.

౬నేను మీ నాన్నకు నా శాయశక్తులా సేవ చేశానని మీకు తెలుసు.

7 And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.

౭మీ నాన్న నన్ను మోసం చేసి పది సార్లు నా జీతం మార్చాడు. అయినా దేవుడు అతని మూలంగా నాకు నష్టం రానియ్యలేదు.

8 If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the flock bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy wages; then bare all the flock ringstraked.

౮అతడు, ‘పొడలు గలవి నీ జీతమవుతాయి’ అని చెప్పినప్పుడు మందలన్నీ పొడలు గల పిల్లలను ఈనాయి. ‘చారలు గలవి నీ జీతమవుతాయి’ అని చెప్పినప్పుడు అవి చారలు గల పిల్లలను ఈనాయి.

9 Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

౯ఆ విధంగా దేవుడు మీ నాన్న మందలను తీసి నాకిచ్చాడు.

10 And it came to pass at the time that the flock conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the he-goats which leaped upon the flock were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled.

౧౦మందలు చూలు కట్టే కాలంలో నేను కలలో చూసినపుడు గొర్రెలతో జత కట్టే పొట్టేళ్ళు చారలు గానీ పొడలు గానీ మచ్చలు గానీ కలిగి ఉన్నాయి.

11 And the angel of God said unto me in the dream, Jacob: and I said, Here am I.

౧౧ఆ కలలో దేవుని దూత ‘యాకోబూ’ అని నన్ను పిలిచినప్పుడు నేను ‘చిత్తం, ప్రభూ’ అన్నాను.

12 And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the he-goats which leap upon the flock are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.

౧౨అప్పుడు ఆయన ‘నీ కళ్ళు పైకెత్తి చూడు. గొర్రెలతో జంటకట్టే పొట్టేళ్ళన్నీ చారలు, పొడలు, మచ్చలు కలిగి ఉన్నాయి. ఎందుకంటే లాబాను నీకు చేస్తున్న దానంతటినీ నేను చూశాను.

13 I am the God of Beth-el, where thou anointedst a pillar, where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy nativity.

౧౩నీవెక్కడ స్తంభం మీద నూనె పోశావో, ఎక్కడ నాకు మొక్కుబడి చేశావో, ఆ బేతేలు దేవుణ్ణి నేనే. ఇప్పుడు నువ్వు ఈ దేశం విడిచిపెట్టి నువ్వు పుట్టిన దేశానికి తిరిగి వెళ్ళు’ అని నాతో చెప్పాడు” అన్నాడు.

14 And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father’s house?

౧౪అందుకు రాహేలు, లేయాలు “ఇంకా మా నాన్న ఇంట్లో మాకు వంతు, వారసత్వం ఉన్నాయా? అతడు మమ్మల్ని పరాయివాళ్ళుగా చూడడం లేదా?

15 Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath also quite devoured our money.

౧౫అతడు మమ్మల్ని అమ్మివేసి, మాకు రావలసిన సొమ్మంతటినీ పూర్తిగా తినేశాడు.

16 For all the riches which God hath taken away from our father, that is ours and our children’s: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.

౧౬దేవుడు మా నాన్న దగ్గరనుండి తీసేసిన ధనమంతా మాదీ మా పిల్లలదీ కాదా? కాబట్టి దేవుడు నీతో ఏది చెబితే అది చెయ్యి” అని అతనికి జవాబు చెప్పారు.

17 Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon the camels;

౧౭యాకోబు తన కొడుకులనూ తన భార్యలనూ ఒంటెల మీద ఎక్కించి

18 and he carried away all his cattle, and all his substance which he had gathered, the cattle of his getting, which he had gathered in Paddan-aram, for to go to Isaac his father unto the land of Canaan.

౧౮తన తండ్రి ఇస్సాకు దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళడానికి తన పశువులన్నిటినీ, పద్దనరాములో తాను సంపాదించిన సంపద అంతటినీ తీసుకు కనాను దేశానికి బయలుదేరాడు.

19 Now Laban was gone to shear his sheep: and Rachel stole the teraphim that were her father’s.

౧౯లాబాను తన గొర్రెల బొచ్చు కత్తిరించడానికి వెళ్ళిన సమయంలో రాహేలు తన తండ్రి ఇంట్లో ఉన్న గృహ దేవుళ్ళను దొంగిలించింది.

20 And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled.

౨౦యాకోబు తాను వెళ్ళిపోతున్నట్టు సిరియావాడైన లాబానుకు తెలియ పరచకపోవడం చేత అతణ్ణి మోసపుచ్చినట్టు అయ్యింది.

21 So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilead.

౨౧అతడు తనకు కలిగినదంతా తీసుకు పారిపోయాడు. అతడు నది దాటి గిలాదు కొండ ప్రాంతాల వైపు వెళ్ళాడు.

22 And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled.

౨౨యాకోబు పారిపోయాడని మూడో రోజుకి లాబానుకు తెలిసింది.

23 And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days’ journey; and he overtook him in the mountain of Gilead.

౨౩అతడు తన బంధువులను వెంటబెట్టుకుని, ఏడు రోజుల ప్రయాణమంత దూరం యాకోబును తరుముకుని వెళ్లి, గిలాదు కొండ మీద అతణ్ణి కలుసుకున్నాడు.

24 And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night, and said unto him, Take heed to thyself that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

౨౪ఆ రాత్రి కలలో దేవుడు లాబాను దగ్గరికి వచ్చి “నువ్వు యాకోబుతో మంచి గానీ చెడు గానీ పలకవద్దు. జాగ్రత్త సుమా” అని అతనితో చెప్పాడు.

25 And Laban came up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mountain of Gilead.

౨౫చివరికి లాబాను యాకోబును కలుసుకున్నాడు. యాకోబు తన గుడారాన్ని ఆ కొండ మీద వేసుకుని ఉన్నాడు. లాబాను కూడా తన బంధువులతో గిలాదు కొండమీద గుడారం వేసుకున్నాడు.

26 And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters as captives of the sword?

౨౬అప్పుడు లాబాను యాకోబుతో “ఏంటి, ఇలా చేశావు? నన్ను మోసపుచ్చి, కత్తితో చెరపట్టిన వారిలాగా నా కూతుళ్ళను తీసుకుపోవడం ఎందుకు?

27 Wherefore didst thou flee secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth and with songs, with tabret and with harp;

౨౭నాకు చెప్పకుండా రహస్యంగా పారిపోయి నన్ను మోసపుచ్చావేంటి? సంబరంగా, పాటలతో, కంజరిలతో, సితారాలతో నిన్ను సాగనంపి ఉండేవాడినే.

28 and hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? now hast thou done foolishly.

౨౮నేను నా మనవళ్ళనూ, కూతుళ్ళనూ ముద్దు పెట్టుకోనియ్యకుండా బుద్ధిహీనంగా ఇలా చేశావు.

29 It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take heed to thyself that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

౨౯నేను మీకు హాని చేయగలను. అయితే రాత్రి మీ తండ్రి దేవుడు, ‘జాగ్రత్త సుమా! నువ్వు యాకోబుతో మంచి గానీ చెడు గానీ పలకవద్దు’ అని నాతో చెప్పాడు.

30 And now, [though] thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father’s house, [yet] wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?

౩౦నీ తండ్రి ఇంటి మీద బెంగ కలిగి వెళ్ళిపోవాలనిపిస్తే వెళ్ళు, నా దేవుళ్ళను దొంగిలించావేంటి?” అన్నాడు.

31 And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Lest thou shouldest take thy daughters from me by force.

౩౧అందుకు యాకోబు “నువ్వు బలవంతంగా నా నుండి నీ కుమార్తెలను తీసుకుంటావేమో అని భయపడ్డాను.

32 With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, he shall not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.

౩౨ఎవరి దగ్గర నీ దేవుళ్ళు కనబడతాయో వారు బతకకూడదు. నువ్వు మన బంధువుల ముందు వెదికి చూసి నీది నా దగ్గర ఏదైనా ఉంటే దాన్ని తీసుకో” అని లాబానుతో చెప్పాడు. రాహేలు వాటిని దొంగిలించిందని యాకోబుకు తెలియలేదు.

33 And Laban went into Jacob’s tent, and into Leah’s tent, and into the tent of the two maidservants; but he found them not. And he went out of Leah’s tent, and entered into Rachel’s tent.

౩౩లాబాను యాకోబు గుడారంలోకీ లేయా గుడారంలోకీ ఇద్దరు దాసీల గుడారాల్లోకీ వెళ్ళాడు గాని అతనికేమీ దొరకలేదు. తరువాత అతడు లేయా గుడారంలో నుండి రాహేలు గుడారంలోకి వెళ్ళాడు.

34 Now Rachel had taken the teraphim, and put them in the camel’s furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban felt about all the tent, but found them not.

౩౪రాహేలు ఆ విగ్రహాలను తీసి ఒంటె సామగ్రిలో పెట్టి వాటి మీద కూర్చుంది. లాబాను ఆ గుడారమంతా వెదికి చూసినా అవి దొరకలేదు.

35 And she said to her father, Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise up before thee; for the manner of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the teraphim.

౩౫ఆమె తన తండ్రితో “తమ ఎదుట నేను లేఛి నిలబడనందుకు తమరు కోపపడవద్దు. నేను నా నెలసరి కాలంలో ఉన్నాను” అని చెప్పింది. అతడెంత వెతికినా ఆ విగ్రహాలు దొరకలేదు.

36 And Jacob was wroth, and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast hotly pursued after me?

౩౬యాకోబు కోపంగా లాబానుతో వాదిస్తూ “నేనేం ద్రోహం చేశాను? నీవిలా మండిపడి నన్ను తరమడానికి నేను చేసిన పాపమేంటి?

37 Whereas thou hast felt about all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? Set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us two.

౩౭నువ్వు నా సామానంతా తడివి చూశాక నీ ఇంటి వస్తువుల్లో ఏమైనా దొరికిందా? నావారి ముందూ, నీవారి ముందూ దాన్ని తెచ్చి పెట్టు. వారు మన ఇద్దరి మధ్య తీర్పు తీరుస్తారు.

38 This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she-goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flocks have I not eaten.

౩౮ఈ ఇరవై సంవత్సరాలూ నేను నీ దగ్గర ఉన్నాను. నీ గొర్రెలైనా మేకలైనా ఏవీ పిల్లలు కనకుండా పోలేదు, నీ మంద పొట్టేళ్ళను దేనినీ నేను తినలేదు.

39 That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.

౩౯క్రూర జంతువులు చంపివేసిన దాన్ని నీ దగ్గరికి తీసుకురాకుండా ఆ నష్టం నేనే పెట్టుకున్నాను. పగలైనా, రాత్రైనా, ఇతరులు దొంగిలించిన వాటి విలువను నా దగ్గరే వసూలు చేశావు.

40 Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from mine eyes.

౪౦నేనెలా ఉన్నానో చూడు, పగలు ఎండకీ రాత్రి మంచుకూ క్షీణించిపోయాను. నా కళ్ళకి నిద్ర అనేదే లేకుండా పోయింది.

41 These twenty years have I been in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock: and thou hast changed my wages ten times.

౪౧నీ ఇద్దరు కూతుళ్ళకోసం పద్నాలుగు సంవత్సరాలూ నీ మంద కోసం ఆరు సంవత్సరాలూ మొత్తం ఇరవై సంవత్సరాలు నీకు సేవ చేస్తూ నీ ఇంట్లో ఉన్నాను. అయినా నువ్వు నా జీతం పదిసార్లు మార్చావు.

42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now hadst thou sent me away empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.

౪౨నా తండ్రి దేవుడు, అబ్రాహాము దేవుడు, ఇస్సాకు భయపడిన దేవుడు నాకు తోడై ఉండకపోతే నువ్వు నన్ను తప్పకుండా ఖాళీ చేతులతోనే వెళ్ళగొట్టి ఉండేవాడివి. దేవుడు నా ప్రయాసనీ నా చేతుల కష్టాన్నీ చూశాడు. అందుకే గత రాత్రి నిన్ను గద్దించాడు” అని అన్నాడు.

43 And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, The daughters are my daughters, and the children are my children, and the flocks are my flocks, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have borne?

౪౩అందుకు లాబాను “ఈ కుమార్తెలు నా కుమార్తెలు, ఈ కుమారులు నా కుమారులు, ఈ మంద నా మంద, నీకు కనబడేదంతా నాదే. ఈ నా కుమార్తెలనైనా, వీరికి పుట్టిన కొడుకులనైనా నేనేం చేయగలను?

44 And now come, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.

౪౪కాబట్టి నువ్వూ నేనూ ఒక నిబంధన చేసుకుందాం రా. అది నాకూ, నీకూ మధ్య సాక్షిగా ఉంటుంది” అని యాకోబుతో అన్నాడు.

45 And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

౪౫అప్పుడు యాకోబు ఒక రాయి తీసి దాన్ని ఒక స్తంభంగా నిలబెట్టాడు.

46 And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there by the heap.

౪౬“రాళ్ళు పోగుచేయండి” అని తన బంధువులతో చెప్పగానే వారు రాళ్ళు తెచ్చి కుప్పగా వేశారు. వారు ఆ కుప్ప దగ్గర భోజనం చేశారు.

47 And Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.

౪౭లాబాను దానికి “యగర్‌ శహదూతా” అని పేరు పెట్టాడు. కానీ యాకోబు దానికి “గలేదు” అని పేరు పెట్టాడు.

48 And Laban said, This heap is witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed:

౪౮లాబాను “ఈ రోజు ఈ కుప్ప నాకూ నీకూ మధ్య సాక్షిగా ఉంటుంది” అని చెప్పాడు. అందుకే దానికి గలేదు అనే పేరు వచ్చింది.

49 and Mizpah, for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.

౪౯ఇంక “మనం ఒకరి కొకరం దూరంగా ఉన్నప్పటికీ యెహోవా నాకూ నీకూ మధ్య జరిగేది కనిపెడతాడు” అని చెప్పాడు కాబట్టి దానికి “మిస్పా” అని కూడా పేరు పెట్టారు.

50 If thou shalt afflict my daughters, and if thou shalt take wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.

౫౦తరువాత లాబాను “నువ్వు నా కుమార్తెలను బాధ పెట్టినా, నా కుమార్తెలను కాక ఇతర స్త్రీలను పెళ్ళి చేసుకున్నా, చూడు, మన దగ్గర ఎవరూ లేకపోయినా, నాకూ నీకూ మధ్య దేవుడే సాక్షి” అని చెప్పాడు.

51 And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold the pillar, which I have set betwixt me and thee.

౫౧అదీ గాక లాబాను “నాకూ నీకూ మధ్య నేను నిలబెట్టిన ఈ స్తంభాన్నీ, ఈ రాళ్ళ కుప్పనీ చూడు.

52 This heap be witness, and the pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.

౫౨నీకు హాని చేయడానికి నేను ఈ కుప్పనీ, ఈ స్తంభాన్నీ దాటి నీ దగ్గరికి రాకుండా, నువ్వు నాకు హాని చేయడానికి ఈ కుప్పనీ, ఈ స్తంభాన్నీ దాటి నా దగ్గరికి రాకుండా ఉండడానికి ఈ కుప్ప, ఈ స్తంభమూ సాక్షి.

53 The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the Fear of his father Isaac.

౫౩అబ్రాహాము దేవుడు, నాహోరు దేవుడు, వారి తండ్రి దేవుడు, మన మధ్య న్యాయం తీరుస్తాడు” అని చెప్పాడు. అప్పుడు యాకోబు తన తండ్రి ఇస్సాకు భయపడిన దేవుని తోడు అని ప్రమాణం చేశాడు.

54 And Jacob offered a sacrifice in the mountain, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mountain.

౫౪యాకోబు ఆ కొండ మీద బలి అర్పించి భోజనం చేయడానికి తన బంధువులను పిలిచినప్పుడు వారు భోజనం చేసి కొండ మీద ఆ రాత్రి గడిపారు.

55 And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed, and returned unto his place.

౫౫తెల్లవారినప్పుడు లాబాను తన మనుమలనూ తన కుమార్తెలనూ ముద్దు పెట్టుకుని వారిని దీవించి బయలుదేరి తన ఊరికి వెళ్ళిపోయాడు.
