Genesis 15

1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, [and] thy exceeding great reward.

౧ఈ సంగతులు జరిగిన తరువాత యెహోవా దూత అబ్రాముకు దర్శనమిచ్చాడు. “అబ్రామూ, భయపడకు! నేనే నీకు డాలును, గొప్ప బహుమానాన్ని” అన్నాడు.

2 And Abram said, O Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and he that shall be possessor of my house is Dammesek Eliezer?

౨అబ్రాము “ప్రభూ యెహోవా, నాకేం ఇస్తావు? నేను సంతానం లేనివాడిగా ఉండిపోతున్నాను కదా. దమస్కు వాడైన ఎలీయెజెరే నా ఆస్తికి వారసుడు అవుతాడు కదా!

3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

౩నువ్వు నాకు సంతానం ఇవ్వలేదు గనుక, చూడు, నా సేవకుల్లో ఒకడు నాకు వారసుడు అవుతాడు” అన్నాడు.

4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This man shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

౪యెహోవా వాక్కు అతని దగ్గరికి వచ్చి “ఇతడు నీ వారసుడు కాడు. నీ ద్వారా నీకు పుట్టబోయేవాడే నీ వారసుడు అవుతాడు” అన్నాడు.

5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to tell them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

౫ఆయన అతణ్ణి బయటకు తీసుకువచ్చి “నువ్వు ఆకాశం వైపు చూసి, ఆ నక్షత్రాలు లెక్కపెట్టడం నీకు చేతనైతే లెక్కపెట్టు” అని చెప్పి “నీ సంతానం కూడా అలా అవుతుంది” అని చెప్పాడు.

6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

౬అతడు యెహోవాను నమ్మాడు. ఆ నమ్మకాన్నే ఆయన అతనికి నీతిగా పరిగణించాడు.

7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.

౭యెహోవా “నీకు ఈ ప్రదేశాన్ని వారసత్వంగా ఇవ్వడానికి కల్దీయుల ఊర్ అనే పట్టణంలో నుంచి నిన్ను ఇవతలకు తీసుకువచ్చిన యెహోవాను నేనే” అని చెప్పినప్పుడు

8 And he said, O Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

౮అతడు “ప్రభూ యెహోవా, ఇది నాకు సొంతం అవుతుందని నాకు ఎలా తెలుస్తుంది?” అన్నాడు.

9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

౯ఆయన “మూడేళ్ళ వయసు ఉన్న ఒక దూడ, ఒక మేక, ఒక పొట్టేలు, ఒక తెల్ల గువ్వ, ఒక పావురం పిల్లను నా దగ్గరికి తీసుకురా” అని అతనితో చెప్పాడు.

10 And he took him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each half over against the other: but the birds divided he not.

౧౦అతడు వాటిని తీసుకుని వాటిని సగానికి రెండు ముక్కలుగా నరికి, రెండు సగాలను ఎదురెదురుగా పెట్టాడు. పక్షులను మాత్రం ఖండించలేదు.

11 And the birds of prey came down upon the carcases, and Abram drove them away.

౧౧ఆ మృతదేహాల మీద గద్దలు వాలగా అబ్రాము వాటిని తోలివేశాడు.

12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

౧౨చీకటి పడుతున్నప్పుడు అబ్రాముకు గాఢ నిద్ర పట్టింది. భయం కలిగించే చిమ్మచీకటి అతణ్ణి ఆవరించింది.

13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

౧౩ఆయన “దీన్ని కచ్చితంగా తెలుసుకో. నీ వారసులు తమది కాని దేశంలో పరదేశులుగా నివాసం ఉంటారు. ఆ దేశవాసులకు బానిసలుగా నాలుగు వందల సంవత్సరాలు అణచివేతకు గురి అవుతారు.

14 and also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

౧౪వీళ్ళు దాసులుగా ఉన్న ఆ దేశానికి నేను తీర్పు తీరుస్తాను. ఆ తరువాత వాళ్ళు అపారమైన సంపదతో బయటకు వస్తారు.

15 But thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

౧౫కాని, నువ్వు నీ తండ్రుల దగ్గరికి ప్రశాంతంగా చేరుకుంటావు. పండు ముసలితనంలో నువ్వు మరణించగా నిన్ను పాతిపెడతారు.

16 And in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.

౧౬అమోరీయుల అక్రమం ఇంకా హద్డు మీరలేదు గనుక, నీ నాలుగవ తరం మనుషులు ఇక్కడికి తిరిగి వస్తారని కచ్చితంగా తెలుసుకో” అని అబ్రాముతో చెప్పాడు.

17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a flaming torch that passed between these pieces.

౧౭సూర్యుడు అస్తమించి చీకటి పడినప్పుడు, పొగ లేస్తున్న కొలిమి, మండుతున్న కాగడా దిగివచ్చి పేర్చిన మాంస ఖండాల మధ్యగా దాటుకుంటూ వెళ్ళాయి.

18 In that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

౧౮ఆ రోజున యెహోవా “ఐగుప్తు నది నుంచి, పేరుగాంచిన యూఫ్రటీసు నది వరకూ ఉన్న ఈ ప్రదేశాన్ని నీ వారసులకు ఇస్తాను.

19 the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,

౧౯కేనీయులను, కనిజ్జీయులను, కద్మోనీయులను,

20 and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,

౨౦హిత్తీయులను, పెరిజ్జీయులను, రెఫాయీయులను,

21 and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.

౨౧అమోరీయులను, కనానీయులను, గిర్గాషీయులను, యెబూసీయులను నీ వారసులకు దాసులుగా చేస్తాను” అని అబ్రాముతో నిబంధన చేశాడు.
