Genesis 13

1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the South.

Abram se je dvignil iz Egipta na jug, on in njegova žena in vse, kar je imel in Lot z njim.

2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

Abram je bil zelo bogat z živino, s srebrom in z zlatom.

3 And he went on his journeys from the South even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Ai;

Odšel je na svoja potovanja od juga celó do Betela, na kraj, kjer je bil od začetka njegov šotor, med Betelom in Ajem,

4 unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

na kraj z oltarjem, ki ga je tam najprej naredil in tam je Abram klical h Gospodovemu imenu.

5 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

Tudi Lot, ki je odšel z Abramom, je imel trope, črede in šotore.

6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

Zemlja pa ju ni mogla podpirati, da bi lahko prebivala skupaj, kajti njuno imetje je bilo veliko, tako da nista mogla prebivati skupaj.

7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.

Bil pa je prepir med čredniki Abramove živine in čredniki Lotove živine, in takrat so v deželi prebivali Kánaanci in Perizéjci.

8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we are brethren.

Abram je rekel Lotu: »Naj ne bo prepira, prosim te, med menoj in teboj in med mojimi čredniki in med tvojimi čredniki, kajti mi smo bratje.

9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if [thou wilt take] the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if [thou take] the right hand, then I will go to the left.

Mar ni vsa dežela pred teboj? Prosim te, loči se od mene. Če boš vzel levico, potem bom odšel na desno, ali če ti odideš na desnico, potem bom jaz odšel na levo.«

10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the Plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou goest unto Zoar.

Lot je povzdignil svoje oči in pogledal vso jordansko ravnino, ki je bila, preden je Gospod uničil Sódomo in Gomóro, vsepovsod dobro namakana, kakor Gospodov vrt, podobna egiptovski deželi, ko prideš do Coarja.

11 So Lot chose him all the Plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

Potem si je Lot izbral vso Jordansko ravnino in Lot je odpotoval vzhodno in ločila sta se drug od drugega, eden od drugega.

12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the Plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

Abram je prebival v kánaanski deželi, Lot pa je prebival v mestih ravnine in svoj šotor postavljal v smeri Sódome.

13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against the LORD exceedingly.

Toda sódomski možje so bili zlobni in silni grešniki pred Gospodom.

14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward and southward and eastward and westward:

Gospod je rekel Abramu, potem ko je bil Lot ločen od njega: »Dvigni torej svoje oči in poglej, od kraja, kjer si, proti severu, proti jugu, proti vzhodu in proti zahodu.

15 for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

Kajti vso deželo, ki jo vidiš, bom dal tebi in tvojemu potomstvu na veke.

16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

Tvojega semena bom naredil kakor zemeljskega prahu, tako da če človek lahko prešteje zemeljski prah, potem bo prešteto tudi tvoje seme.

17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for unto thee will I give it.

Vstani, prehodi deželo po njeni dolžini in po njeni širini, kajti tebi jo bom dal.«

18 And Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.

Potem je Abram odstranil svoj šotor in prišel ter prebival na mamrejski ravnini, ki je v Hebrónu in tam zgradil oltar Gospodu.
