Exodus 10
1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs in the midst of them:
Yavé dijo a Moisés: Vé a Faraón, pues Yo endurecí su corazón y el corazón de sus esclavos, para mostrar entre ellos estas señales mías,
2 and that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought upon Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know that I am the LORD.
para que cuentes a tus hijos y a tus nietos lo que Yo ejecuté en Egipto, y mis señales que hice entre ellos, para que ustedes entiendan que Yo soy Yavé.
3 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
Moisés y Aarón fueron a Faraón y le dijeron: Yavé el ʼElohim de los hebreos dice: ¿Hasta cuándo rehusarás humillarte delante de Mí? Deja que mi pueblo salga para que me sirva.
4 Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow will I bring locusts into thy border:
Porque si tú rehúsas dejar ir a mi pueblo, ciertamente mañana traeré saltamontes a tu territorio,
5 and they shall cover the face of the earth, that one shall not be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
los cuales cubrirán la superficie de la tierra, de modo que nadie pueda ver la tierra. Ellas también se comerán el resto, lo que te quedó del granizo. Se comerán todo árbol que te brota en el campo.
6 and thy houses shall be filled, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; as neither thy fathers nor thy fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned, and went out from Pharaoh.
Se llenarán tus casas, las casas de todos tus esclavos y las casas de todos los egipcios, como nunca lo vieron tus antepasados, ni tus abuelos desde el día cuando se establecieron en la tierra hasta hoy. Y dio la vuelta y salió de la presencia de Faraón.
7 And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
Los esclavos de Faraón le dijeron: ¿Hasta cuándo este hombre será una trampa para nosotros? Deja que esta gente vaya y sirva a Yavé su ʼElohim. ¿No reconoces que Egipto es destruido?
8 And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God; but who are they that shall go?
Entonces Moisés y Aarón fueron llevados de regreso ante Faraón, quien les dijo: Vayan, sirvan a Yavé su ʼElohim. ¿Quiénes son los que van?
9 And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.
Moisés respondió: Iremos con nuestros jóvenes y con nuestros ancianos, con nuestros hijos y con nuestras hijas. Iremos con nuestras ovejas y manadas de ganado vacuno, porque tenemos una festividad para Yavé.
10 And he said unto them, So be the LORD with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.
Y él les respondió: ¡Aunque Yavé esté con ustedes, no los dejaré salir con sus pequeños! ¡Consideren cómo sus malas intenciones están a la vista!
11 Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that is what ye desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
¡No será así! Vayan ustedes, los varones, y sirvan a Yavé, pues esto es lo que ustedes pidieron. Y los echaron de la presencia de Faraón.
12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.
Yavé dijo a Moisés: Extiende tu mano sobre la tierra de Egipto para que los saltamontes vengan sobre la tierra de Egipto y se coman toda planta de la tierra, todo lo que dejó el granizo.
13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all the night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
Moisés extendió su vara sobre la tierra de Egipto, y todo aquel día y toda aquella noche Yavé trajo un viento del este sobre el país. Al llegar la mañana, el viento del este trajo los saltamontes.
14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt; very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
Los saltamontes subieron y se posaron toda la tierra de Egipto. Eran muy numerosos. Nunca antes hubo tantos saltamontes, ni volverá a haber.
15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing, either tree or herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
Cubrieron la superficie de todo el país y la tierra fue oscurecida. Consumieron toda planta y todo el fruto de los árboles que dejó el granizo. Nada quedó verde en los árboles ni en las plantas del campo en toda la tierra de Egipto.
16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.
Entonces Faraón se apresuró a llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: Pequé contra Yavé su ʼElohim y contra ustedes.
17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and entreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.
Por tanto les ruego que perdonen mi pecado solo esta vez y que supliquen a Yavé su ʼElohim, que solo quite de mí esta muerte.
18 And he went out from Pharaoh, and entreated the LORD.
Él salió de la presencia de Faraón y suplicó a Yavé.
19 And the LORD turned an exceeding strong west wind, which took up the locusts, and drove them into the Red Sea; there remained not one locust in all the border of Egypt.
Yavé cambió por un fuerte viento de occidente que llevó los saltamontes y los lanzó al mar Rojo. No quedó ni un saltamontes en todo el territorio de Egipto.
20 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go.
Pero Yavé endureció el corazón de Faraón, y éste no dejó salir a los hijos de Israel.
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
Luego Yavé dijo a Moisés: Extiende tu mano hacia el cielo para que haya oscuridad sobre la tierra de Egipto, una oscuridad de tal clase que se palpe.
22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;
Moisés extendió su mano al cielo, y hubo una densa oscuridad en toda la tierra de Egipto durante tres días.
23 they saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
No se veían el uno al otro, ni alguno se levantó de su lugar en tres días. Pero para todos los hijos de Israel hubo luz en sus viviendas.
24 And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.
Entonces Faraón llamó a Moisés: Vayan, sirvan a Yavé, y vayan también sus pequeños con ustedes. Solamente queden sus ovejas y sus manadas de ganado vacuno.
25 And Moses said, Thou must also give into our hand sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.
Pero Moisés respondió: Tú también tienes que dejarnos ofrecer sacrificios y holocaustos a Yavé nuestro ʼElohim.
26 Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.
También nuestro ganado irá con nosotros. No quedará ni una pezuña, porque tenemos que tomar de ellos para servir a Yavé nuestro ʼElohim, pues hasta que lleguemos allí, no sabremos con qué serviremos a Yavé.
27 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.
Pero Yavé endureció el corazón de Faraón, y no quiso dejarlos salir.
28 And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in the day thou seest my face thou shalt die.
Faraón le dijo: ¡Retírate de mí! ¡Guárdate de no volver a ver mi rostro, porque el día cuando veas mi rostro, morirás!
29 And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well; I will see thy face again no more.
Moisés respondió: Bien dijiste. No volveré a ver tu rostro.
