Deuteronomy 24

1 When a man taketh a wife, and marrieth her, then it shall be, if she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some unseemly thing in her, that he shall write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

ഒരു പുരുഷൻ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ വിവാഹംകഴിച്ചശേഷം അവളിൽ ദോഷം കണ്ടെത്തിയതുകൊണ്ട് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടാതെ വന്നാൽ വിവാഹമോചനപത്രം എഴുതിക്കൊടുത്ത് അവളെ അവളുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് അയയ്ക്കണം,

2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s [wife].

അവന്റെ വീട്ടിൽനിന്ന് പോയതിനുശേഷം അവൾക്ക് മറ്റൊരു പുരുഷന്റെ ഭാര്യയായിരിക്കാം.

3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഭർത്താവും അവളെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടാതെ വിവാഹമോചനത്തിനുള്ള പത്രം എഴുതിക്കൊടുത്ത് അവളെ അവളുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പറഞ്ഞയയ്ക്കുകയോ ആ പുരുഷൻ മരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ

4 her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

അവൾക്ക് ഉപേക്ഷണപത്രം നൽകിയ ആദ്യഭർത്താവിന്, അവൾ അശുദ്ധയായശേഷം വീണ്ടും അവളെ വിവാഹംകഴിക്കാൻ അനുവാദമില്ല. അത് യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ വെറുപ്പുള്ള കാര്യമാകുന്നു. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്ക് അവകാശമായി നൽകുന്ന ദേശം നീ പാപംകൊണ്ടു മലിനമാക്കരുത്.

5 When a man taketh a new wife, he shall not go out in the host, neither shall he be charged with any business: he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer his wife which he hath taken.

വിവാഹംകഴിഞ്ഞ ഉടൻ ഒരു പുരുഷനെ യുദ്ധത്തിന് അയയ്ക്കുകയോ അവന്റെമേൽ മറ്റ് ഉത്തരവാദിത്വങ്ങൾ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്. അവൻ ഒരുവർഷം സ്വതന്ത്രനായി വീട്ടിൽ താമസിച്ച് താൻ വിവാഹംകഴിച്ച ഭാര്യയെ സന്തുഷ്ടയാക്കണം.

6 No man shall take the mill or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh [a man’s] life to pledge.

തിരികല്ലോ അതിന്റെ മേൽക്കല്ലോ പണയമായി വാങ്ങരുത്. അതുമൂലം ഒരുവന്റെ ഉപജീവനമാണ് പണയമായി വാങ്ങുന്നത്.

7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and he deal with him as a slave, or sell him; then that thief shall die: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.

ആരെങ്കിലും തന്റെ സഹയിസ്രായേല്യരിൽ ഒരാളെ തട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി അയാളോട് അടിമയോടെന്നപോലെ പെരുമാറുകയോ അയാളെ വിൽക്കുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ തട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയ വ്യക്തി മരിക്കണം. ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്ന് തിന്മ നീക്കിക്കളയണം.

8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.

കുഷ്ഠംപോലുള്ള രോഗം ബാധിച്ചവരുടെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ലേവ്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ നിങ്ങളോടു നിർദേശിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതു കൃത്യമായി ചെയ്യാൻ ജാഗ്രത കാണിക്കണം. ഞാൻ അവരോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളതെല്ലാം ജാഗ്രതയോടെ നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യണം.

9 Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam, by the way as ye came forth out of Egypt.

നിങ്ങൾ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെട്ടശേഷം വഴിയിൽവെച്ച് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ മിര്യാമിനോടു ചെയ്തത് ഓർക്കണം.

10 When thou dost lend thy neighbour any manner of loan, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.

നീ അയൽവാസിക്ക് എന്തെങ്കിലും വായ്പ കൊടുക്കുമ്പോൾ അയാൾ നിനക്കു നൽകാമെന്നു സമ്മതിച്ച പണയം വാങ്ങാൻ നീ ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ വീടിനുള്ളിൽ പോകരുത്.

11 Thou shalt stand without, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring forth the pledge without unto thee.

നീ പുറത്തു നിൽക്കുക, വായ്പ വാങ്ങുന്നവ്യക്തി പണയം നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരണം.

12 And if he be a poor man, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:

അയൽവാസി ദരിദ്രനെങ്കിൽ അയാളുടെ പണയവസ്തുവായ കുപ്പായംകൊണ്ട് നീ ഉറങ്ങരുത്.

13 thou shalt surely restore to him the pledge when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his garment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.

അയാൾക്കു തന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം പുതച്ച് ഉറങ്ങേണ്ടതിനു സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോൾ അയാളുടെ കുപ്പായം നീ തിരികെ നൽകണം. അപ്പോൾ അവർ നിന്നോടു നന്ദിയുള്ളവരായിരിക്കും. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ അത് ഒരു നീതിപ്രവൃത്തിയായിരിക്കും.

14 Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:

ഇസ്രായേല്യരായ നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലോ നിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ പാർക്കുന്ന പ്രവാസികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലോ ഉള്ള ദരിദ്രരും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുള്ളവരുമായ കൂലിക്കാരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കരുത്.

15 in his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.

അവർ ദരിദ്രരും കൂലി ആശ്രയിച്ചു കഴിയുന്നവരുമാകുകയാൽ അവരുടെ കൂലി ഓരോ ദിവസവും സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുന്നതിനുമുമ്പു നൽകണം. അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവർ യഹോവയോടു നിനക്കു വിരോധമായി നിലവിളിക്കും, അതിൽ നീ കുറ്റക്കാരനായിത്തീരും.

16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

മക്കളുടെ തെറ്റിനു പിതാക്കന്മാരോ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ തെറ്റിനു മക്കളോ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കരുത്; ഓരോരുത്തരുടെയും പാപത്തിന് അവരവർതന്നെ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കണം.

17 Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of the stranger, [nor] of the fatherless; nor take the widow’s raiment to pledge:

പ്രവാസിക്കും അനാഥർക്കും നീതി നിഷേധിക്കരുത്. വിധവയുടെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം പണയമായി എടുക്കരുത്.

18 but thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

നീ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ അടിമയായിരുന്നു എന്നും നിന്നെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവിടെനിന്ന് വീണ്ടെടുത്തു എന്നും ഓർക്കുക. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഇതു ചെയ്യാൻ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കൽപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.

19 When thou reapest thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

നിന്റെ വയൽ കൊയ്യുമ്പോൾ ഒരു കറ്റ വയലിൽ മറന്നുപോയാൽ അതെടുക്കാൻ തിരികെപ്പോകരുത്. നിന്റെ കൈകളുടെ എല്ലാ പ്രവൃത്തിയിലും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്, അതു പ്രവാസിക്കും അനാഥർക്കും വിധവയ്ക്കുമായി ഉപേക്ഷിക്കണം.

20 When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

നീ ഒലിവുവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം തല്ലുമ്പോൾ രണ്ടാംതവണയും കൊമ്പുകൾ തപ്പിപ്പറിക്കരുത്. ശേഷിക്കുന്നതു പ്രവാസിക്കും അനാഥർക്കും വിധവയ്ക്കുമുള്ളതാണ്.

21 When thou gatherest [the grapes of] thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it after thee: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

നിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിൽനിന്ന് മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം ശേഖരിക്കുമ്പോൾ രണ്ടാമതും പോയി തീർത്തു പറിക്കരുത്. ശേഷിക്കുന്നതു പ്രവാസിക്കും അനാഥർക്കും വിധവയ്ക്കുമുള്ളതാണ്.

22 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

നിങ്ങൾ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ അടിമകളായിരുന്നു എന്ന് ഓർക്കുക. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഇതു ചെയ്യാൻ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കൽപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.
