Deuteronomy 14

1 Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

நீங்கள் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவின் பிள்ளைகள். ஆகவே நீங்கள் இறந்தவர்களுக்காக உங்களை வெட்டிக்கொள்ளவோ, தலைகளின் முன்பக்கத்தைச் சிரைக்கவோவேண்டாம்.

2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.

நீங்களே உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்குரிய பரிசுத்தமான மக்கள். அவர் பூமியின் மீதுள்ள எல்லா மக்களிலும் உங்களையே தமக்கு அருமையான உரிமைச்சொத்தாய் இருக்கும்படி தெரிந்தெடுத்திருக்கிறார்.

3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

அருவருப்பான எதையும் நீங்கள் சாப்பிடவேண்டாம்.

4 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

நீங்கள் சாப்பிடக்கூடிய மிருகங்களாவன: மாடு, செம்மறியாடு, வெள்ளாடு,

5 the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the chamois.

மான், வெளிமான், கலைமான், காட்டாடு, புள்ளிமான், சருகுமான், மலையாடு ஆகியன.

6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and hath the hoof cloven in two, [and] cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

இரண்டாக விரிந்த குளம்புடையதும், இரையை அசைப்போடுகிறதுமான எந்த மிருகத்தையும் நீங்கள் சாப்பிடலாம்.

7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the coney, because they chew the cud but part not the hoof, they are unclean unto you:

சில மிருகங்கள் இரையை அசைப்போடுகிறதாய் மட்டும் இருக்கின்றன, சில மிருகங்கள் குளம்புகள் விரிந்ததாய் மட்டும் இருக்கின்றன. இவற்றில் ஒட்டகம், முயல், குழிமுயல் ஆகியவற்றைச் சாப்பிடக்கூடாது. ஏனெனில், இவை இரையை அசைபோட்டாலும் அவற்றுக்குப் விரிந்த குளம்புகள் இல்லை. ஆகையால் சம்பிரதாய முறைப்படி அவை உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமானவை.

8 and the swine, because he parteth the hoof but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you: of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcases ye shall not touch.

பன்றியும் அசுத்தமானது. ஏனெனில், அதற்கு விரிந்த குளம்பு இருந்தாலும், அது இரையை அசைப்போடுகிறதில்லை. நீங்கள் அவற்றின் இறைச்சியைச் சாப்பிடவோ, அவற்றின் செத்த உடலை தொடவோகூடாது.

9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat:

நீரில் வாழும் உயிரினங்களில் துடுப்புகளும், செதில்களும் உள்ள எதையும் நீங்கள் சாப்பிடலாம்.

10 and whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you.

துடுப்புகளும் செதில்களும் இல்லாத வேறொன்றையும் நீங்கள் சாப்பிடக்கூடாது. அவை உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமானவை.

11 Of all clean birds ye may eat.

சுத்தமான எந்தப் பறவையையும்

12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the gier eagle, and the ospray;

நீங்கள் சாப்பிடலாம். நீங்கள் சாப்பிடக்கூடாத பறவைகளாவன: கழுகு, கருடன், கடலூராஞ்சி,

13 and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind;

செம்பருந்து, கரும்பருந்து, எல்லாவித வல்லூறுகள்,

14 and every raven after its kind;

சகலவித அண்டங்காக்கைகள்,

15 and the ostrich, and the night hawk, and the seamew, and the hawk after its kind;

தீக்கோழி, ஆந்தை, கடல் பறவை, எல்லாவித பருந்துகள்,

16 the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl;

சிறு ஆந்தை, பெரிய ஆந்தை, வெள்ளை ஆந்தை,

17 and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant;

பாலைவன ஆந்தை, கூழக்கடா, நீர்க்காகம்,

18 and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

கொக்கு, எல்லாவித நாரை, புழுக்கொத்தி, வவ்வால் ஆகியனவாகும்.

19 And all winged creeping things are unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

பறக்கும் பூச்சி வகைகளில் யாவும் உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமானவை. அவற்றைச் சாப்பிடவேண்டாம்.

20 Of all clean fowls ye may eat.

சிறகுள்ள உயிரினங்களில் சுத்தமானவற்றை நீங்கள் சாப்பிடலாம்.

21 Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou mayest give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto a foreigner: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother’s milk.

ஏற்கெனவே இறந்து கிடக்கிறதாக நீங்கள் காணும் எதையும் சாப்பிடவேண்டாம். உங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் ஒன்றில் வாழும் அந்நியனுக்கு அவற்றைக்கொடுங்கள், அவன் சாப்பிடட்டும் அல்லது வேறு நாட்டவனுக்கு விற்றுவிடுங்கள். ஏனெனில் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்குப் பரிசுத்தமான மக்கள் நீங்களே. வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியை அதன் தாயின் பாலில் சமைக்கவேண்டாம்.

22 Thou shalt surely tithe all the increase of thy seed, that which cometh forth of the field year by year.

ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் உங்கள் வயல்நிலம் விளைவிக்கும் எல்லாவற்றிலும் இருந்து பத்திலொருபாகத்தைப் புறம்பாக்கிவைக்கக் கவனமாயிருங்கள்.

23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

உங்கள் தானியம், புதுத் திராட்சை இரசம், எண்ணெய் ஆகியவற்றின் பத்திலொரு பங்கையும் மாட்டு மந்தை, ஆட்டு மந்தை ஆகியவற்றின் தலையீற்றையும், உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா தமது பெயர் விளங்கும் வசிப்பிடமாக தெரிந்துகொள்ளும் இடத்தில் அவருக்கு முன்பாக சாப்பிடுங்கள். அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் எப்பொழுதும் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவிடத்தில் பயபக்தியாயிருக்கக் கற்றுக்கொள்வீர்கள்.

24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God shall bless thee:

யெகோவா தமது பெயர் விளங்கும்படி தெரிந்துகொள்ளும் இடம் தூரமாய் இருக்கலாம். அவ்வாறு தூரமாய் இருப்பதினால் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்போது, உங்கள் பத்திலொரு பங்கைச் சுமந்துகொண்டு அங்குபோக உங்களால் முடியாதிருக்கலாம்.

25 then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:

அப்பொழுது உங்கள் பத்திலொரு பங்கை வெள்ளிக்கு பதிலீடுசெய்து, அந்த வெள்ளியை உங்களுடன் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா தெரிந்துகொள்ளும் இடத்துக்குப் போங்கள்.

26 and thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh of thee: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thine household:

அங்கேபோய், அந்த வெள்ளிக்கு செம்மறியாடுகளையோ மாடுகளையோ திராட்சை இரசத்தையோ அல்லது மதுபானத்தையோ நீங்கள் விரும்பும் எதையும் வாங்குங்கள். பின்பு நீங்கள் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக நீங்களும், உங்கள் வீட்டாரும் அவற்றைச் சாப்பிட்டுக் களிகூருங்கள்.

27 and the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.

ஆனாலும் உங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் இருக்கும் லேவியரை மறவாதீர்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர்களுக்குச் சொந்தமாக நிலப்பங்குகளோ உரிமைச்சொத்தோ இல்லை.

28 At the end of every three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase in the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

ஒவ்வொரு மூன்று வருட முடிவிலும் அந்த வருட விளைச்சலின் பத்திலொருபங்கைக் கொண்டுவந்து, உங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் உள்ள களஞ்சியங்களில் சேர்த்துவையுங்கள்.

29 and the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

இவற்றில், தங்களுக்குச் சொந்தமான நிலப்பங்கும், உரிமைச்சொத்தும் இல்லாமல் உங்கள் பட்டணத்தில் வாழும் லேவியரும், அந்நியரும், தகப்பன் இல்லாதவர்களும், விதவைகளும் வந்து சாப்பிட்டுத் திருப்தியடையட்டும். அப்பொழுது உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா நீங்கள் கையிட்டுச்செய்யும் எல்லா வேலைகளையும் ஆசீர்வதிப்பார்.
