Deuteronomy 14
1 Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
Vosotros sois hijos de Yahvé, vuestro Dios; no os hagáis sajaduras ni os cortéis el cabello entre los ojos por un muerto;
2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
pues eres un pueblo santo para Yahvé, tu Dios; y te ha escogido Yahvé para que seas un pueblo peculiar suyo entre todos los pueblos que hay sobre la tierra.
3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
No comerás cosa abominable alguna.
4 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,
Estos son los animales que podréis comer: el buey, la oveja, la cabra,
5 the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the chamois.
el ciervo, la gacela, el corzo, la cabra montés, el antílope, el búfalo, la gamuza.
6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and hath the hoof cloven in two, [and] cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
Todo animal biungulado de pezuña hendida y que rumia, ese podréis comer.
7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the coney, because they chew the cud but part not the hoof, they are unclean unto you:
Pero no comeréis a pesar de que rumian y tienen la pezuña hendida: el camello, la liebre y el tejón; pues aunque son rumiantes, no tienen la pezuña hendida; serán inmundos para vosotros;
8 and the swine, because he parteth the hoof but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you: of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcases ye shall not touch.
tampoco el cerdo, pues aunque tiene la pezuña hendida, no rumia; sea inmundo para vosotros; no comeréis su carne ni tocaréis su cadáver.
9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat:
De todos los animales que viven en el agua, podréis comer aquellos que tienen aletas y escamas;
10 and whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you.
mas cuantos no tienen aletas y escamas, no los comeréis; sean inmundos para vosotros.
11 Of all clean birds ye may eat.
Podréis comer toda clase de aves puras,
12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the gier eagle, and the ospray;
mas he aquí las que no comeréis: el águila, el quebrantahuesos, el águila marina,
13 and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind;
el azor, el halcón, el milano en sus distintas especies;
14 and every raven after its kind;
toda especie de cuervo;
15 and the ostrich, and the night hawk, and the seamew, and the hawk after its kind;
sel avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota, el gavilán con sus especies,
16 the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl;
el búho, el ibis, el cisne,
17 and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant;
el pelícano, el buitre, el somorgujo,
18 and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
la cigüeña, la garza con sus especies, la abubilla, el murciélago.
19 And all winged creeping things are unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.
Todo insecto alado sea inmundo para vosotros; no lo comeréis;
20 Of all clean fowls ye may eat.
pero podréis comer todo volátil puro.
21 Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou mayest give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto a foreigner: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother’s milk.
No comeréis carne mortecina; podrás darla al extranjero que habita dentro de tus puertas y él podrá comerla, o venderla a un extraño; porque tú eres un pueblo consagrado a Yahvé, tu Dios. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre.
22 Thou shalt surely tithe all the increase of thy seed, that which cometh forth of the field year by year.
Darás puntualmente el diezmo de todo el producto de tu semilla, de lo que rinde tu campo año por año;
23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
y comerás en presencia de Yahvé, tu Dios, en el lugar que Él escogiere para morada de su nombre, el diezmo de tu trigo, de tu vino y de tu aceite, y los primerizos de tu ganado mayor y menor, a fin de que aprendas a temer a Yahvé, tu Dios, en todo tiempo.
24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God shall bless thee:
Mas si el camino fuere demasiado largo para ti, y tú no pudieres llevarlo por estar demasiado lejos de ti el lugar escogido por Yahvé, tu Dios, para morada de su nombre, entonces cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, te haya bendecido,
25 then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:
lo venderás por dinero, y encerrando el dinero en tu mano, irás al lugar que Yahvé, tu Dios, haya escogido,
26 and thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh of thee: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thine household:
y comprarás por ese dinero cuanto apetezca tu alma: bueyes, u ovejas, o vino, o licor fermentado, o cualquier cosa que desee tu alma; y comerás allí delante de Yahvé, tu Dios, y te regocijarás, tú y tu casa.
27 and the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.
Y no te olvides del levita que habita dentro de tus puertas, porque no tiene parte ni heredad contigo.
28 At the end of every three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase in the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:
Al cabo de cada tercer año, tomarás todo el diezmo de tus productos de aquel año, y lo depositarás dentro de tus puertas;
29 and the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
y si viene el levita, que no tiene parte ni heredad contigo, y el extranjero, el huérfano y la viuda, que habitan dentro de tus muros, podrán comer y saciarse, para que Yahvé, tu Dios, te bendiga en toda obra de tus manos.
