Amos 2

1 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

So spricht Jehovah: Ob dreier Übertretungen Moabs und ob vierer wende Ich es nicht zurück: Darum, daß sie die Gebeine von Edoms König zu Kalk verbrannt.

2 but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

Und Ich will ein Feuer senden in Moab, daß es auffresse die Paläste von Kerioth, und sterben soll Moab im Tosen, im Feldgeschrei und mit Stimme der Posaune.

3 and I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

Und Ich rotte aus den Richter aus seiner Mitte, und erwürge mit ihm alle seine Obersten, spricht Jehovah.

4 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have rejected the law of the LORD, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after the which their fathers did walk:

So spricht Jehovah: Ob dreier Übertretungen Jehudahs und ob vierer wende Ich es nicht zurück: Darum, daß sie Jehovahs Gesetz verschmähten und Seine Satzungen nicht hielten, und ihre Falschheiten sie irre geführt, denen schon ihre Väter nachgegangen sind;

5 but I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

Und Ich will Feuer nach Jehudah senden, daß es auffresse die Paläste Jerusalems.

6 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have sold the righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of shoes:

So spricht Jehovah: Ob dreier Übertretungen Israels und ob vierer wende Ich es nicht zurück: Darum, daß sie um Silber verkauften den Gerechten, und den Dürftigen um ein paar Schuhe;

7 that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go unto the [same] maid, to profane my holy name:

Die da schnauben nach dem Stäubchen Erde auf dem Haupt der Armen, und den Weg der Elenden beugen; und ein Mann und sein Vater gehen zur Dirne, damit sie den Namen Meiner Heiligkeit entweihen.

8 and they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge, and in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined.

Und auf verpfändeten Kleidern strecken sie sich hin neben jedem Altar; und den Wein der Gebüßten trinken sie im Haus ihrer Götter.

9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

Und Ich vernichtete den Amoriter vor ihnen, dessen Höhe war wie die Höhe der Zedern, und dessen Festigkeit war wie die der Eichen, und seine Frucht von oben und seine Wurzeln von unten vernichtete Ich.

10 Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

Und brachte euch aus dem Lande Ägypten herauf, und ließ euch vierzig Jahre in der Wüste gehen, auf daß ihr des Amoriters Land erblich besitzet.

11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.

Und habe welche von euren Söhnen zu Propheten und von euren Jünglingen als Nasiräer erstehen lassen. Ist selbst das nichts, Söhne Israels? spricht Jehovah.

12 But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

Und den Nasiräern gabt ihr Wein zu trinken, und den Propheten gebotet ihr und sprachet: Ihr sollt nicht weissagen.

13 Behold, I will press [you] in your place, as a cart presseth that is full of sheaves.

Siehe, Ich will euch unter sich niederdrücken, wie der volle Wagen unter den Garben niedergedrückt wird;

14 And flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

Und dem Schnellen geht seine Zuflucht verloren, und den Starken machte seine Kraft nicht mächtig, und der Held rettet nicht seine Seele.

15 neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver [himself]: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself:

Daß, der den Bogen faßt, nicht besteht, und der leicht auf den Füßen ist, nicht entrinnt, und der auf dem Rosse reitet, seine Seele nicht retten wird.

16 and he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.

Und der in seinem Herzen Rüstige unter den Helden wird nackend fliehen an jenem Tag, spricht Jehovah.
