2 Samuel 1
1 And it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;
Μετά δε τον θάνατον του Σαούλ, αφού επέστρεψεν ο Δαβίδ από της σφαγής των Αμαληκιτών, εκάθησεν ο Δαβίδ εν Σικλάγ δύο ημέρας·
2 it came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
την δε τρίτην ημέραν, ιδού, ήλθεν άνθρωπος εκ του στρατοπέδου από πλησίον του Σαούλ, έχων διεσχισμένα τα ιμάτια αυτού και χώμα επί της κεφαλής αυτού· και καθώς εισήλθε προς τον Δαβίδ, έπεσεν εις την γην και προσεκύνησε.
3 And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Δαβίδ, Πόθεν έρχεσαι; Ο δε είπε προς αυτόν, Εγώ εκ του στρατοπέδου του Ισραήλ διεσώθην.
4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, The people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Δαβίδ, Τι συνέβη; ειπέ μοι, παρακαλώ. Και απεκρίθη, Ότι έφυγεν ο λαός εκ της μάχης, και πολλοί μάλιστα εκ του λαού έπεσον και απέθανον· απέθανον δε και Σαούλ και Ιωνάθαν ο υιός αυτού.
5 And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
Και είπεν ο Δαβίδ προς τον νέον τον απαγγέλλοντα προς αυτόν, Πως εξεύρεις ότι απέθανεν ο Σαούλ, και Ιωνάθαν ο υιός αυτού;
6 And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and the horsemen followed hard after him.
Και είπεν ο νέος ο απαγγέλλων προς αυτόν, Ευρέθην κατά τύχην εν τω όρει Γελβουέ, και ιδού, ο Σαούλ ήτο κεκλιμένος επί του δόρατος αυτού, και ιδού, αι άμαξαι και οι ιππείς κατέφθανον αυτόν.
7 And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.
και ότε έβλεψεν εις τα οπίσω αυτού, με είδε και με εκάλεσε· και απεκρίθην, Ιδού, εγώ.
8 And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.
Και είπε προς εμέ, Ποίος είσαι; Και απεκρίθην προς αυτόν, Είμαι Αμαληκίτης.
9 And he said unto me, Stand, I pray thee, beside me, and slay me, for anguish hath taken hold of me; because my life is yet whole in me.
Πάλιν είπε προς εμέ, Στήθι επάνω μου, παρακαλώ, και θανάτωσόν με· διότι σκοτοδινίασις με κατέλαβεν, επειδή η ζωή μου είναι έτι όλη εν εμοί.
10 So I stood beside him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
Εστάθην λοιπόν επ' αυτόν και εθανάτωσα αυτόν· επειδή ήμην βέβαιος ότι δεν ηδύνατο να ζήση αφού έπεσε· και έλαβον το διάδημα το επί της κεφαλής αυτού και το βραχιόλιον το εν τω βραχίονι αυτού, και έφερα αυτά ενταύθα προς τον κύριόν μου.
11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:
Τότε πιάσας ο Δαβίδ τα ιμάτια αυτού, διέσχισεν αυτά· και πάντες ομοίως οι άνδρες οι μετ' αυτού.
12 and they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
Και επένθησαν και έκλαυσαν και ενήστευσαν έως εσπέρας διά τον Σαούλ και διά Ιωνάθαν τον υιόν αυτού και διά τον λαόν του Κυρίου και διά τον οίκον του Ισραήλ, διότι έπεσον διά ρομφαίας.
13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.
Είπε δε ο Δαβίδ προς τον νέον, τον απαγγέλλοντα προς αυτόν, Πόθεν είσαι; Και απεκρίθη, Είμαι υιός παροίκου τινός Αμαληκίτου.
14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to put forth thine hand to destroy the LORD’S anointed?
Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Δαβίδ, Πως δεν εφοβήθης να επιβάλης την χείρα σου διά να θανατώσης τον κεχρισμένον του Κυρίου;
15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.
Και εκάλεσεν ο Δαβίδ ένα εκ των νέων και είπε, Πλησίασον, πέσον επ' αυτόν. Και επάταξεν αυτόν, και απέθανε.
16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD’S anointed.
Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Δαβίδ, Το αίμα σου επί της κεφαλής σου· διότι το στόμα σου εμαρτύρησεν εναντίον σου, λέγων, Εγώ εθανάτωσα τον κεχρισμένον του Κυρίου.
17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
Και εθρήνησεν ο Δαβίδ τον θρήνον τούτον επί τον Σαούλ και επί Ιωνάθαν τον υιόν αυτού·
18 And he bade them teach the children of Judah [the song of] the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jashar.
και παρήγγειλε να διδάξωσι τους υιούς Ιούδα τούτο το άσμα του τόξου· ιδού, είναι γεγραμμένον εν τω βιβλίω του Ιασήρ.
19 Thy glory, O Israel, is slain upon thy high places! how are the mighty fallen!
Ω δόξα του Ισραήλ, επί τους υψηλούς τόπους σου κατηκοντισμένη. Πως έπεσον οι δυνατοί.
20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Ashkelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
Μη αναγγείλητε εις την Γαθ, μη διακηρύξητε εις τας πλατείας της Ασκάλωνος, μήποτε χαρώσιν αι θυγατέρες των Φιλισταίων, μήποτε αγαλλιάσωνται αι θυγατέρες των απεριτμήτων·
21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain upon you, neither fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.
Ορη τα εν Γελβουέ, Ας μη ήναι δρόσος μηδέ βροχή εφ' υμάς, μηδέ αγροί δίδοντες απαρχάς· διότι εκεί απερρίφθη η ασπίς των ισχυρών, Η ασπίς του Σαούλ, ως να μη εχρίσθη δι' ελαίου.
22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
Από του αίματος των πεφονευμένων, από του στέατος των ισχυρών, το τόξον του Ιωνάθαν δεν εστρέφετο οπίσω, και η ρομφαία του Σαούλ δεν επέστρεφε κενή.
23 Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided; they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
Σαούλ και Ιωνάθαν ήσαν οι ηγαπημένοι και εράσμιοι εν τη ζωή αυτών, και εν τω θανάτω αυτών δεν εχωρίσθησαν· ήσαν ελαφρότεροι αετών, δυνατώτεροι λεόντων.
24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet delicately, who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
Θυγατέρες Ισραήλ, κλαύσατε επί τον Σαούλ τον ενδύοντα υμάς κόκκινα μετά καλλωπισμών, τον επιβάλλοντα στολισμούς χρυσούς επί τα ενδύματα υμών.
25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan is slain upon thy high places.
Πως έπεσον οι δυνατοί εν μέσω της μάχης· Ιωνάθαν, επί τους υψηλούς τόπους σου τετραυματισμένε.
26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
Περίλυπος είμαι διά σε, αδελφέ μου Ιωνάθαν· προσφιλέστατος εστάθης εις εμέ· η προς εμέ αγάπη σου ήτο εξαίσιος. Υπερέβαινε την αγάπην των γυναικών.
27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
Πως έπεσον οι δυνατοί, και απωλέσθησαν τα όπλα του πολέμου.
