2 Samuel 21
1 And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the LORD. And the LORD said, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put to death the Gibeonites.
En los días de David hubo una hambruna durante tres años consecutivos, y David buscó el rostro de Yavé. Y Yavé dijo: Es por causa de Saúl y de su casa sanguinaria que mató a los gabaonitas.
2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah: )
El rey llamó a los gabaonitas y habló con ellos. Los gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino del remanente de los amorreos. Los hijos de Israel les juraron la paz, pero Saúl tenía la intensión de matarlos en su celo por los hijos de Israel y de Judá.
3 and David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?
David preguntó a los gabaonitas: ¿Qué puedo hacer por ustedes, y con qué les hago compensación para que bendigan la heredad de Yavé?
4 And the Gibeonites said unto him, It is no matter of silver or gold between us and Saul, or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.
Los gabaonitas le respondieron: No nos importa la plata ni el oro de Saúl o de su casa, ni nos corresponde matar a alguien en Israel. Y él dijo: Haré por ustedes lo que digan.
5 And they said unto the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us, [that] we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the borders of Israel,
Y respondieron al rey: Que de aquel hombre que nos destruyó y maquinó contra nosotros para exterminarnos a fin de que no quedáramos dentro del territorio de Israel,
6 let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of the LORD; And the king said, I will give them.
se nos entreguen de sus descendientes siete varones y los ahorcaremos delante de Yavé en Gabaa de Saúl, el escogido de Yavé. Y el rey contestó: Los entregaré.
7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD’S oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
Pero el rey pasó por alto a Mefi-boset, hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, a causa del juramento que David y Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, se hicieron en Nombre de Yavé.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she bare to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
El rey tomó a los dos hijos de Rizpa, hija de Aja, que dio a luz a Saúl: Armoni y Mefi-boset, y a los cinco hijos de Merab, hija de Saúl, los cuales dio a luz a Adriel, hijo de Barzilai meolatita,
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the mountain before the LORD, and they fell [all] seven together: and they were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, at the beginning of barley harvest.
y los entregó en manos de los gabaonitas, quienes los ahorcaron en la montaña delante de Yavé. Así murieron juntos aquellos siete, los cuales fueron ahorcados en los primeros días de la cosecha de la cebada.
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water was poured upon them from heaven; and she suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
Entonces Rizpa, hija de Aja, tomó una tela áspera y la extendió sobre una roca, desde el comienzo de la cosecha hasta cuando cayó sobre ellos agua del cielo, y no dejó que alguna ave del cielo se posara sobre ellos de día, ni las fieras del campo por la noche.
11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
Cuando le informaron a David lo que hacía Rizpa, hija de Aja, concubina de Saúl,
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, in the day that the Philistines slew Saul in Gilboa:
David fue y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de su hijo Jonatán de los hombres de Jabes de Galaad, quienes los quitaron en oculto de la plaza de Bet-sán donde los filisteos los colgaron el día cuando ellos mataron a Saúl en Gilboa.
13 and he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.
Mandó que llevaran de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de su hijo Jonatán. Recogieron los huesos de los que fueron ahorcados y
14 And they buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was entreated for the land.
los sepultaron con los huesos de Saúl y de su hijo Jonatán en tierra de Benjamín, en Zela, en el sepulcro de su padre Cis. Se hizo todo lo que el rey ordenó. Después de eso, ʼElohim prestó atención a la oración por la tierra.
15 And the Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
Los filisteos volvieron a hacer guerra contra Israel. David bajó con sus esclavos y luchaban contra los filisteos. Y David se cansó.
16 and Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear was three hundred [shekels] of brass in weight, he being girded with a new [sword], thought to have slain David.
Isbi-benob, quien era uno de los descendientes de los gigantes, cuya lanza pesaba 3,3 kilogramos de bronce y tenía atada una espada nueva, trató de matar a David.
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the lamp of Israel.
Pero Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, ayudó [a David], hirió al filisteo y lo mató. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron: ¡No volverás a salir con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que tú apagues la lámpara de Israel!
18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again war with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbecai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.
Después hubo otra guerra en Gob contra los filisteos. Sibecai el husatita mató a Saf, quien era otro de los descendientes de los gigantes.
19 And there was again war with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim the Beth-lehemite slew Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
Otra vez hubo guerra en Gob contra los filisteos, y Elhanán, hijo de Jaare-oregim, de Belén, mató a Goliat geteo, cuya asta de la lanza era como el rodillo de un telar.
20 And there was again war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
Después hubo otra guerra en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura que tenía seis dedos en cada mano y seis dedos en cada pie, 24 en total. También éste era descendiente de gigantes.
21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei David’s brother slew him.
Cuando desafió a Israel, Jonatán, hijo de Simea, hermano de David, lo mató.
22 These four were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
Estos cuatro eran descendientes del gigante de Gat. Cayeron en la mano de David por medio de sus esclavos.
