2 Kings 18
1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
౧ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు, ఏలా కొడుకు హోషేయ పరిపాలనలో మూడో సంవత్సరంలో యూదా రాజు ఆహాజు కొడుకు హిజ్కియా ఏలడం ఆరంభించాడు.
2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
౨అతడు 25 సంవత్సరాల వయస్సులో ఏలడం ఆరంభించి, యెరూషలేములో 29 సంవత్సరాలు ఏలాడు. అతని తల్లి పేరు అబీ. ఆమె జెకర్యా కూతురు.
3 And he did that which was right hi the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.
౩అతడు తన పూర్వికుడైన దావీదు ఆదర్శాన్ని అనుసరించి, యెహోవా దృష్టిలో ఏది సరైనదో అది చేశాడు.
4 He removed the high places, and brake the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: And he brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made; for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.
౪ఉన్నత స్థలాలను తొలగించి, విగ్రహాలను పగలగొట్టి, దేవతా స్తంభాలను పడగొట్టాడు. మోషే చేసిన ఇత్తడి సర్పాన్ని ముక్కలు ముక్కలు చేశాడు. దానికి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు “నెహుష్టాను” అని పేరు పెట్టి, దానికి ధూపం వేసేవారు.
5 He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor [among them] that were before him.
౫అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాలో విశ్వాసం ఉంచినవాడు. అతని తరువాత వచ్చిన యూదా రాజుల్లోనైనా, అతని పూర్వికులైన రాజుల్లోనైనా అతనితో సమానుడు ఒక్కడూ లేడు.
6 For he clave to the LORD, he departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
౬అతడు యెహోవాకు నమ్మకంగా ఉండి, ఆయన్ను వెంబడించడంలో వెనుతిరగకుండా, ఆయన మోషేకు ఆజ్ఞాపించిన ఆజ్ఞలన్నీ పాటిస్తూ ఉన్నాడు.
7 And the LORD was with him; whithersoever he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
౭కాబట్టి, యెహోవా అతనికి తోడుగా ఉన్నాడు. తాను వెళ్లిన ప్రతిచోటా అతడు జయం పొందాడు. అతడు అష్షూరు రాజుకు లోబడలేదు. అతని మీద తిరగబడ్డాడు.
8 He smote the Philistines unto Gaza and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
౮ఇంకా గాజా పట్టణం, దాని సరిహద్దుల వరకూ బురుజులనుండి ప్రాకారాల వరకూ ఫిలిష్తీయులపై దాడి చేశాడు.
9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
౯రాజైన హిజ్కియా పరిపాలనలో నాలుగో సంవత్సరంలో, ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు ఏలా కొడుకు హోషేయ పరిపాలనలో ఏడో సంవత్సరంలో, అష్షూరురాజు షల్మనేసెరు షోమ్రోను పట్టణంపై దండెత్తి దాన్ని చుట్టుముట్టాడు.
10 And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
౧౦మూడు సంవత్సరాలకు అష్షూరీయులు దాన్ని చేజిక్కించుకున్నారు. హిజ్కియా పరిపాలనలో ఆరో సంవత్సరంలో, ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు హోషేయ పరిపాలనలో తొమ్మిదో సంవత్సరంలో షోమ్రోను పట్టణం శత్రువుల వశం అయ్యింది.
11 And the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and in Habor, [on] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:
౧౧ఇశ్రాయేలు వారు తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా చెప్పిన మాట వినకుండా ఆయన నిబంధనకూ, ఆయన సేవకుడైన మోషే ఆజ్ఞాపించిన దానంతటికీ లోబడలేదు. వాటిని అతిక్రమించారు.
12 because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.
౧౨అష్షూరు రాజు ఇశ్రాయేలు వాళ్ళను అష్షూరు దేశానికి తీసుకెళ్ళి, గోజాను నది దగ్గర ఉన్న హాలహు, హాబోరు అనే పట్టణాల్లో, మాదీయుల పట్టణాల్లో వాళ్ళను ఉంచాడు.
13 Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
౧౩హిజ్కియా రాజు పరిపాలనలో 14 వ సంవత్సరంలో అష్షూరురాజు సన్హెరీబు యూదా దేశంలో ఉన్న ప్రాకారాలున్న పట్టాణాలన్నిటి మీద దాడి చేసి వాటిని చేజిక్కించుకున్నాడు.
14 And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
౧౪యూదారాజు హిజ్కియా, లాకీషు పట్టణంలో ఉన్న అష్షూరు రాజు దగ్గరికి వార్తాహరులను పంపి “నావల్ల తప్పు జరిగింది. నా దగ్గర నుంచి నీవు వెనక్కి వెళ్ళిపోతే నీవు నా మీద మోపిన దాన్ని నేను భరిస్తాను” అని వార్త పంపించాడు. అష్షూరురాజు 600 మణుగుల వెండి, 60 మణుగుల బంగారం యూదా రాజు హిజ్కియా చెల్లించాలని విధించాడు.
15 And Hezekiah gave [him] all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house.
౧౫కాబట్టి హిజ్కియా యెహోవా మందిరంలో, రాజనగరంలో, వస్తువుల రూపంలో ఉన్న వెండి అంతా అతనికి ఇచ్చేశాడు.
16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off [the gold from] the doors of the temple of the LORD, and [from] the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
౧౬ఇంకా ఆ కాలంలో హిజ్కియా దేవాలయపు తలుపులకున్న బంగారం, తాను కట్టించిన స్తంభాలకున్న బంగారం తీయించి అష్షూరు రాజుకిచ్చాడు.
17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army unto Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.
౧౭కాని, అష్షూరు రాజు తర్తాను, రబ్సారీసు, రబ్షాకేనులను లాకీషు పట్టణం నుంచి యెరూషలేములో ఉన్న హిజ్కియా రాజుపైకి పెద్ద సైన్యంతో పంపాడు. వారు యెరూషలేముపై దండెత్తి చాకిరేవు మార్గంలో ఉన్న మెరక కొలను కాలవ దగ్గర ప్రవేశించి, అక్కడ ఉండి రాజును పిలిపించాడు.
18 And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
౧౮హిల్కీయా కొడుకూ, గృహ నిర్వాహకుడూ అయిన ఎల్యాకీము, శాస్త్రి షెబ్నా, రాజ్య లేఖనాల అధికారి అయిన ఆసాపు కొడుకు యోవాహు వాళ్ళ దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళారు.
19 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
౧౯అప్పుడు రబ్షాకే వాళ్ళతో అష్షూరురాజు హిజ్కియాతో చెప్పమన్నది ఈ విధంగా వినిపించాడు. “నీకున్న ఈ ధైర్యానికి ఆధారం ఏంటి?
20 Thou sayest, but they are but vain words, [There is] counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
౨౦యుద్ధం విషయంలో నీ ఆలోచన, నీ బలం అన్నీ వట్టి మాటలే. నా మీద తిరుగుబాటు చెయ్యడానికి నీకు ధైర్యం ఇచ్చింది ఎవరు?
21 Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
౨౧నలిగిన రెల్లులాంటి ఈ ఐగుప్తును నమ్ముకుంటున్నావు. కాని, ఎవరైనా దాని మీద ఆనుకుంటే అది అతని చేతికి గుచ్చుకుని లోపలికి దిగుతుంది. అతన్ని నమ్ముకున్న వాళ్ళందరికీ ఐగుప్తురాజు ఫరో అలాంటివాడే.
22 But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
౨౨మా దేవుడు యెహోవాను మేము నమ్ముకుంటున్నాము, అని ఒకవేళ మీరు నాతో చెప్తారేమో. యెరూషలేములో ఉన్న ఈ బలిపీఠం దగ్గర మాత్రమే మీరు నమస్కారం చెయ్యాలని యూదా వాళ్ళకూ, యెరూషలేము వాళ్ళకూ ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి, హిజ్కియా ఎవరి ఉన్నత స్థలాలూ, బలిపీఠాలూ పడగొట్టాడో ఆయనే గదా యెహోవా?
23 Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
౨౩కాబట్టి, నా యజమాని అష్షూరు రాజు పక్షంగా నిన్ను సవాలు చేస్తున్నాను. చాలినంత మంది రౌతులు నీ దగ్గర ఉంటే రెండువేల గుర్రాలు నేను నీకిస్తాను.
24 How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
౨౪అలా ఐతే నీవు నా యజమాని సేవకుల్లో అతి తక్కువ వాడైన ఒక్క అధిపతినైనా ఎలా ఎదిరించగలవు? రథాలూ, రౌతులూ పంపుతాడని ఐగుప్తురాజును నీవు ఆశ్రయించావు గదా!
25 Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
౨౫యెహోవా ఇష్టం లేకుండానే ఈ దేశంపై యుద్ధం చేసి నాశనం చెయ్యడానికి నేను వచ్చానా? ‘ఆ దేశంపై దాడి చేసి నాశనం చెయ్యి’ అని యెహోవాయే నాకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చాడు” అన్నాడు.
26 Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not with us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
౨౬రబ్షాకేతో హిల్కీయా కొడుకు ఎల్యాకీము, షెబ్నా, యోవాహు ఇలా అన్నారు. “నీ దాసులమైన మాకు సిరియా భాష తెలుసు గనుక ఆ భాషలో మాట్లాడండి. ప్రాకారాల మీద ఉన్న ప్రజలకు తెలిసిన యూదుల భాషలో దయచేసి మాట్లాడొద్దు” అన్నారు.
27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? [hath he not sent me] to the men which sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?
౨౭రబ్షాకే “ఈ మాటలు చెప్పడానికి నీ యజమాని దగ్గరకూ, నీ దగ్గరికి మాత్రమేనా నా యజమాని నన్ను పంపింది? త్వరలో మీతో పాటు తమ మలం తిని తమ మూత్రం తాగాల్సిన ఈ ప్రాకారాల మీద కూర్చున్న వాళ్ళ దగ్గరికి కూడా నన్ను పంపాడు గదా” అని చెప్పాడు.
28 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spake, saying, Hear ye the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.
౨౮అతడు పెద్ద స్వరంతో యూదుల భాషలో “మహారాజైన అష్షూరురాజు చెప్పిన మాటలు వినండి. రాజు చెప్పదేమంటే,
29 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you; for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
౨౯హిజ్కియా వల్ల మోసపోకండి. నా చేతిలోనుంచి మిమ్మల్ని విడిపించడానికి అతనికి శక్తి చాలదు.
30 neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
౩౦యెహోవా పేరట మిమ్మల్ని నమ్మించి, ‘యెహోవా మనలను విడిపిస్తాడు, ఈ పట్టణం అష్షూరురాజు చేతికి చిక్కదు’ అని హిజ్కియా చెప్తున్నాడు.
31 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
౩౧హిజ్కియా చెప్పిన మాట మీరు నమ్మవద్దు. అష్షూరురాజు చెప్పేదేమంటే, నాతో సంధి చేసుకుని మీరు బయటికి నా దగ్గరికి వస్తే, మీలో ప్రతి మనిషీ తన సొంత ద్రాక్షచెట్టు ఫలం, తన అంజూరపు చెట్టు ఫలం తింటూ, తన సొంత బావిలో నీళ్లు తాగుతాడు.
32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.
౩౨ఆ తరువాత మీరు చనిపోకుండా బ్రతికేలా మేము వచ్చి మీ దేశం లాంటి దేశానికీ, అంటే గోదుమలు, ద్రాక్షారసం ఉన్న దేశానికీ, ఆహారం, ద్రాక్షచెట్లు ఉన్న దేశానికీ, ఒలీవ నూనె, తేనె ఉన్న దేశానికీ మిమ్మల్ని తీసుకు పోతాము. అక్కడ మీరు సుఖంగా ఉంటారు. కాబట్టి, యెహోవా మిమ్మల్ని విడిపిస్తాడని హిజ్కియా మీకు బోధించే మాటలు వినొద్దు.
33 Hath any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
౩౩వివిధ ప్రజల దేవుళ్లలో ఎవరైనా తమ దేశాన్ని అష్షూరురాజు చేతిలోనుంచి విడిపించారా?
34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
౩౪హమాతు దేవుళ్ళు ఏమయ్యారు? అర్పాదు దేవుళ్ళు ఏమయ్యారు? సెపర్వయీము దేవుళ్ళు ఏమయ్యారు? హేన ఇవ్వా అనే వాళ్ళ దేవుళ్ళు ఏమయ్యారు? (షోమ్రోను దేశపు) దేవుళ్ళు మా చేతిలోనుంచి షోమ్రోనును విడిపించారా?
35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
౩౫మా చేతిలోనుంచి యెహోవా యెరూషలేమును విడిపిస్తాడు అనడానికి, వివిధ దేశాల దేవుళ్లలో ఎవరైనా తమ దేశాన్ని మా చేతిలోనుంచి విడిపించిన సందర్భం ఉందా?” అన్నాడు.
36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
౩౬అయితే అతనికి జవాబు ఇవ్వొద్దని రాజు చెప్పిన కారణంగా ప్రజలు ఏమాత్రం మాట్లాడకుండా మౌనంగా ఉన్నారు.
37 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah, with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
౩౭గృహ నిర్వాహకుడైన హిల్కీయా కొడుకు ఎల్యాకీము, శాస్త్రి షెబ్నా, రాజ్య లేఖనాల అధిపతి ఆసాపు కొడుకు యోవాహు, బట్టలు చింపుకుని హిజ్కియా దగ్గరికి వచ్చి, రబ్షాకే పలికిన మాటలన్నీ తెలియజేశారు.
