2 Chronicles 34

1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem.

Οκτώ ετών ηλικίας ήτο ο Ιωσίας ότε εβασίλευσε· και εβασίλευσεν εν Ιερουσαλήμ έτη τριάκοντα και εν.

2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

Και έπραξε το ευθές ενώπιον του Κυρίου, και περιεπάτησεν εν ταις οδοίς Δαβίδ του πατρός αυτού, και δεν εξέκλινε δεξιά η αριστερά.

3 For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images.

Και εν τω ογδόω έτει της βασιλείας αυτού, νέος ων έτι, ήρχισε να εκζητή τον Θεόν του Δαβίδ του πατρός αυτού· και εν τω δωδεκάτω έτει ήρχισε να καθαρίζη τον Ιούδαν και την Ιερουσαλήμ από των υψηλών τόπων και από των άλσεων και των γλυπτών και των χωνευτών.

4 And they brake down the altars of the Baalim in his presence; and the sun-images, that were on high above them, he hewed down; and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves [of them] that had sacrificed unto them.

Και κατέστρεψαν έμπροσθεν αυτού τα θυσιαστήρια των Βααλείμ· και τα είδωλα τα υπεράνω αυτών κατεκρήμνισε· και τα άλση και τα γλυπτά και τα χωνευτά κατεσύντριψε και ελέπτυνεν εις σκόνην και έρριψεν αυτήν επί τα μνήματα των θυσιαζόντων εις αυτά.

5 And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem.

Και τα οστά των ιερέων έκαυσεν επί των θυσιαστηρίων αυτών και εκαθάρισε τον Ιούδαν και την Ιερουσαλήμ.

6 And [so did he] in the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, even unto Napthali, in their ruins round about.

Και έκαμε το αυτό εις τας πόλεις του Μανασσή και Εφραΐμ και Συμεών και μέχρι του Νεφθαλί, κύκλω των ηρημωμένων τόπων αυτών.

7 And he brake down the altars, and beat the Asherim and the graven images into powder, and hewed down all the sun-images throughout all the land of Israel, and returned to Jerusalem.

Και αφού κατέστρεψε τα θυσιαστήρια και τα άλση και κατελέπτυνεν εις σκόνην τα γλυπτά και κατέκοψε πάντα τα είδωλα διά πάσης της γης του Ισραήλ, επέστρεψεν εις Ιερουσαλήμ.

8 Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.

Εν δε τω δεκάτω ογδόω έτει της βασιλείας αυτού, αφού εκαθάρισε την γην και τον ναόν, εξαπέστειλε τον Σαφάν υιόν του Αζαλίου, και τον Μαασίαν τον άρχοντα της πόλεως, και τον Ιωάχ υιόν του Ιωάχαζ τον υπομνηματογράφον, διά να επισκευάσωσι τον οίκον Κυρίου του Θεού αυτού.

9 And they came to Hilkiah the high priest, and delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites, the keepers of the door, had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin, and of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Και ελθόντες προς Χελκίαν τον ιερέα τον μέγαν, παρέδωκαν το αργύριον το εισαχθέν εις τον οίκον του Θεού, το οποίον οι Λευΐται οι φυλάττοντες τας θύρας εσύναξαν εκ της χειρός του Μανασσή και Εφραΐμ και εκ παντός του επιλοίπου του Ισραήλ και εκ παντός του Ιούδα και Βενιαμίν· και επέστρεψαν εις Ιερουσαλήμ.

10 And they delivered it into the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the LORD; and the workmen that wrought in the house of the LORD gave it to amend and repair the house;

Και έδωκαν αυτά εις την χείρα των ποιούντων τα έργα, των επιστατούντων εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου· οι δε ποιούντες τα έργα, τα οποία ειργάζοντο εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου, παρέδωκαν αυτό διά να επισκευάσωσι και να επιδιορθώσωσι τον οίκον·

11 even to the carpenters and to the builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.

εις τους τέκτονας και οικοδόμους έδωκαν αυτό, διά ν' αγοράσωσι λίθους πελεκητούς και ξύλα διά δοκούς, και διά να στεγάσωσι τους οίκους τους οποίους κατέστρεψαν οι βασιλείς του Ιούδα.

12 And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward: and [other of] the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of music.

Και ειργάζοντο οι άνδρες το έργον εν πίστει· επιτηρηταί δε επ' αυτών ήσαν Ιαάθ και Οβαδίας, οι Λευΐται, εκ των υιών Μεραρί· και Ζαχαρίας και Μεσουλλάμ, εκ των υιών των Κααθιτών, διά να κατεπείγωσι το έργον· και εκ των Λευϊτών πάντες οι επιστήμονες μουσικών οργάνων.

13 Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and set forward all that did the work in every manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.

Ήσαν έτι επί των αχθοφόρων και εργοδιώκται πάντων των εργαζομένων, καθ' οποιανδήποτε υπηρεσίαν· και εκ των Λευϊτών ήσαν γραμματείς και επιστάται και θυρωροί.

14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found the book of the law of the LORD given by Moses.

Και ενώ εξέφερον το αργύριον το εισαχθέν εις τον οίκον του Κυρίου, εύρηκε Χελκίας ο ιερεύς το βιβλίον του νόμου του Κυρίου, του δοθέντος διά χειρός του Μωϋσέως.

15 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

Και απεκρίθη ο Χελκίας και είπε προς Σαφάν τον γραμματέα, εύρηκα βιβλίον του νόμου εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου. Και έδωκεν ο Χελκίας το βιβλίον εις τον Σαφάν.

16 And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and moreover brought the king word again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.

Και ο Σαφάν έφερε το βιβλίον προς τον βασιλέα και έπειτα έδωκε λόγον εις τον βασιλέα, λέγων, Οι δούλοί σου κάμνουσι παν το διορισθέν εις αυτούς·

17 And they have emptied out the money that was found in the house of the LORD, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and into the hand of the workmen.

και ηρίθμησαν το αργύριον το ευρεθέν εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου, και παρέδωκαν αυτό εις την χείρα των επιστατών και εις την χείρα των ποιούντων τα έργα.

18 And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read therein before the king.

Και απήγγειλε Σαφάν ο γραμματεύς προς τον βασιλέα, λέγων, Χελκίας ιερεύς έδωκεν εις εμέ βιβλίον. Και ανέγνωσεν αυτό ο Σαφάν ενώπιον του βασιλέως.

19 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.

Και ως ήκουσεν ο βασιλεύς τους λόγους του νόμου, διέσχισε τα ιμάτια αυτού.

20 And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying,

Και προσέταξεν ο βασιλεύς Χελκίαν και Αχικάμ τον υιόν του Σαφάν και Αβδών τον υιόν του Μιχαία και Σαφάν τον γραμματέα και Ασαΐαν τον δούλον του βασιλέως, λέγων,

21 Go ye, inquire of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according unto all that is written in this book.

Υπάγετε, ερωτήσατε τον Κύριον περί εμού και περί των εναπολειφθέντων εν τω Ισραήλ και εν τω Ιούδα, περί των λόγων του βιβλίου του ευρεθέντος· διότι μεγάλη είναι η οργή του Κυρίου ήτις εξεχύθη εφ' ημάς, επειδή οι πατέρες ημών δεν εφύλαξαν τον λόγον του Κυρίου, ώστε να πράξωσι κατά πάντα τα γεγραμμένα εν τω βιβλίω τούτω.

22 So Hilkiah, and they whom the king [had commanded], went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter; ) and they spake to her to that effect.

Τότε υπήγεν ο Χελκίας και οι παρά του βασιλέως προς Όλδαν την προφήτισσαν, την γυναίκα του Σαλλούμ υιού του Τικβά, υιού του Ασρά, του ιματιοφύλακος, κατώκει δε αύτη εν Ιερουσαλήμ, κατά το Μισνέ· και ελάλησαν προς αυτήν κατά ταύτα.

23 And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: tell ye the man that sent you unto me,

Η δε είπε προς αυτούς· Ούτω λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός του Ισραήλ· Είπατε προς τον άνθρωπον όστις σας απέστειλε προς εμέ,

24 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:

Ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Ιδού, εγώ επιφέρω κακά επί τον τόπον τούτον και επί τους κατοίκους αυτού, πάσας τας κατάρας τας γεγραμμένας εν τω βιβλίω, το οποίον ανέγνωσαν ενώπιον του βασιλέως του Ιούδα·

25 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore is my wrath poured out upon this place, and it shall not be quenched.

επειδή με εγκατέλιπον και εθυμίασαν εις άλλους θεούς, διά να με παροργίσωσι διά πάντα τα έργα των χειρών αυτών· διά τούτο θέλει εκχυθή ο θυμός μου επί τον τόπον τούτον και δεν θέλει σβεσθή.

26 But unto the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: As touching the words which thou hast heard,

Προς δε τον βασιλέα του Ιούδα, όστις σας απέστειλε διά να ερωτήσητε τον Κύριον, ούτω θέλετε ειπεί προς αυτόν· Ούτω λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός του Ισραήλ, περί των λόγων τους οποίους ήκουσας·

27 because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and hast humbled thyself before me, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.

επειδή η καρδία σου ηπαλύνθη, και εταπεινώθης ενώπιον του Θεού, ότε ήκουσας τους λόγους αυτού εναντίον του τόπου τούτου και εναντίον των κατοίκων αυτού, και εταπεινώθης ενώπιόν μου και διέσχισας τα ιμάτιά σου και έκλαυσας ενώπιόν μου, διά τούτο και εγώ επήκουσα, λέγει Κύριος·

28 Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof. And they brought the king word again.

ιδού, εγώ θέλω σε συνάξει εις τους πατέρας σου, και θέλεις συναχθή εις τον τάφον σου εν ειρήνη, και δεν θέλουσιν ιδεί οι οφθαλμοί σου πάντα τα κακά, τα οποία εγώ επιφέρω επί τον τόπον τούτον και επί τους κατοίκους αυτού. Και έφεραν απόκρισιν προς τον βασιλέα.

29 Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.

Και απέστειλεν ο βασιλεύς και συνήγαγε πάντας τους πρεσβυτέρους του Ιούδα και της Ιερουσαλήμ.

30 And the king went up to the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, both great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.

Και ανέβη ο βασιλεύς εις τον οίκον του Κυρίου, και πάντες οι άνδρες Ιούδα και οι κάτοικοι της Ιερουσαλήμ και οι ιερείς και οι Λευΐται και πας ο λαός, από μεγάλου έως μικρού· και ανέγνωσεν εις επήκοον αυτών πάντας τους λόγους του βιβλίου της διαθήκης, του ευρεθέντος εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου.

31 And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.

Και σταθείς ο βασιλεύς επί του τόπου αυτού, έκαμε την διαθήκην ενώπιον του Κυρίου, να περιπατή κατόπιν του Κυρίου και να φυλάττη τας εντολάς αυτού και τα μαρτύρια αυτού και τα διατάγματα αυτού εξ όλης αυτού της καρδίας και εξ όλης αυτού της ψυχής, ώστε να εκτελή τους λόγους της διαθήκης τους γεγραμμένους εν τω βιβλίω τούτω.

32 And he caused all that were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand [to it]. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

Και έκαμε πάντας τους ευρεθέντας εν Ιερουσαλήμ και τον Βενιαμίν να σταθώσιν εν τούτω. Και οι κάτοικοι της Ιερουσαλήμ έκαμον κατά την διαθήκην του Θεού, του Θεού των πατέρων αυτών.

33 And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were found in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. All his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.

Και αφήρεσεν ο Ιωσίας πάντα τα βδελύγματα εκ πάντων των τόπων των υιών Ισραήλ, και έκαμε πάντας τους ευρεθέντας εν τω Ισραήλ να λατρεύωσι Κύριον τον Θεόν αυτών· κατά πάσας τας ημέρας αυτού δεν απεμακρύνθησαν από όπισθεν Κυρίου του Θεού των πατέρων αυτών.
