< 2 Chronicles 20 >

1 And it came to pass after this, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
Bwe wayitawo ebbanga, Abamowaabu n’Abamoni nga bali wamu n’abamu ku Bamoni ne balumba Yekosafaati okumulwanyisa.
2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea from Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazon-tamar (the same is En-gedi).
Abasajja abamu ne bagenda ne bategeeza Yekosafaati nti, “Eggye ddene eriva e Busuuli okuva emitala w’Ennyanja ey’Omunnyo, likulumbye, era lituuse mu Kazazonutamali, ye Engedi,”
3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek unto the LORD; and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
Yekosafaati n’atya nnyo n’amalirira okwebuuza ku Mukama, era n’alangirira okusiiba mu Yuda yonna.
4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to seek [help] of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
Yuda yonna n’ekuŋŋaana okunoonya okubeerwa okuva eri Mukama okuva mu bibuga byonna ebya Yuda.
5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court;
Awo Yekosafaati n’ayimirira mu maaso g’ekkuŋŋaaniro lya Yuda ne Yerusaalemi, mu yeekaalu ya Mukama mu maaso g’oluggya olupya,
6 and he said, O LORD, the God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and art not thou ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? and in thine hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee.
n’ayogera nti, “Ayi Mukama, Katonda wa bajjajjaffe, si ggwe Katonda ow’omu ggulu? Si ggwe ofuga obwakabaka bwonna mu nsi? Obuyinza n’amaanyi biri mu mukono gwo, n’okubaawo ne watabaawo n’omu ayinza okuyimirira mu maaso go.
7 Didst not thou, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
Ayi Katonda waffe, si ggwe wagobamu abatuuze abaali mu nsi eno mu maaso g’abantu bo Isirayiri, n’ogiwa ezzadde lya Ibulayimu mukwano gwo okugibeerangamu emirembe gyonna?
8 And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,
Era bagibaddemu ne bazimbamu ekifo ow’okusinziza erinnya lyo, nga boogera nti,
9 If evil come upon us, the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house, and before thee, (for thy name is in this house, ) and cry unto thee in our affliction, and thou wilt hear and save.
‘Bwe tulituukibwako akabi konna, oba ekitala eky’okusala omusango, oba lumbe, oba njala, tunaayimiriranga mu maaso go, ne mu maaso ga yeekaalu eno okuli erinnya lyo, ne tukukaabiriranga mu kulumwa kwaffe n’otuwulira era n’otulokola.’
10 And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not;
“Naye kaakano laba, abasajja ba Amoni ne Mowaabu n’ab’oku Lusozi Seyiri, ab’omu kibangirizi kye wagaana Isirayiri okulumba bwe baava mu nsi y’e Misiri, era babeewala ne batagenda kubazikiriza,
11 behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.
laba bwe baagala okutusasula nga batugobaganya mu kifo kye watuwa ng’omugabo gwaffe.
12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
Ayi Katonda waffe, toobasalire musango? Kubanga tetulina maanyi ga kulwana na ggye lino eddene eritulumbye. Tetumanyi kya kukola, wabula amaaso gaffe gatunuulidde ggwe.”
13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
Abasajja bonna aba Yuda, wamu ne bakyala baabwe, n’abaana baabwe, n’abaana abasemberayo ddala obuto, ne bayimirira mu maaso ga Mukama.
14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, came the spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
Awo Omwoyo wa Mukama n’akka ku Yakaziyeeri mutabani wa Zekkaliya, muzzukulu wa Benaya muzzukulu wa Yeyeri, muzzukulu wa Mattaniya, Omuleevi ow’ezzadde lya Asafu ng’ayimiridde wakati mu lukuŋŋaana.
15 and he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat: thus saith the LORD unto you, Fear not ye, neither be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
N’ayogera nti, “Kabaka Yekosafaati, ne Yuda yenna, n’abatuuze ba Yerusaalemi, kino Mukama ky’abagamba nti, ‘Temutya era temuggwaamu mwoyo olw’eggye eryo eddene, kubanga olutalo si lwammwe, naye lwa Katonda.
16 Tomorrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the ascent of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
Enkya muserengete mubasisinkane; laba bajja kwambukira awalinnyirwa e Zizi, era munaabasisinkana ekiwonvu we kikoma mu ddungu lya Yerweri.
17 Ye shall not need to fight in this [battle]: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed: tomorrow go out against them; for the LORD is with you.
Tekijja kubeetagisa kulwana lutalo luno. Mubeere mu bifo byammwe, mube bagumu mulabe obuwanguzi Mukama bw’anaabawa mmwe Yuda ne Yerusaalemi. Temutya wadde okuggwaamu omwoyo; enkya mugende mubasisinkane, Mukama anaabeera nammwe.’”
18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
Awo Yekosafaati n’avuunama amaaso ge ku ttaka, era ne Yuda yenna n’abatuuze bonna ab’e Yerusaalemi ne bavuunama wansi mu maaso ga Mukama ne bamusinza.
19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise the LORD, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.
Abamu ku Baleevi, Abakokasi n’abalala nga Bakoola ne bayimirira okutendereza Mukama, Katonda wa Isirayiri, n’eddoboozi ery’omwanguka.
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ne bakeera mu makya ne bagenda mu ddungu lya Tekowa. Bwe baali nga bagenda Yekosafaati n’ayimirira n’abagamba nti, “Mumpulirize, Yuda n’abantu ab’e Yerusaalemi! Mube n’okukkiriza mu Mukama Katonda wammwe munaanywezebwa; mukkirize bannabbi be, munaalaba omukisa.”
21 And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed them that should sing unto the LORD, and praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks unto the LORD; for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Awo bwe yamala okwebuuza ku bantu, n’alonda abasajja ab’okuyimbira Mukama, n’okumutendereza olw’ekitiibwa ky’obutuukirivu bwe, abakulemberamu eggye, nga boogera nti, “Mwebaze Mukama kubanga okwagala kwe kubeerera emirembe gyonna.”
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set liers in wait against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
Awo bwe batandika okuyimba n’okutendereza, Mukama n’ataayiza abasajja ba Amoni, n’aba Mowaabu, n’ab’oku Lusozi Seyiri, abaali balumbye Yuda, ne bawangulwa.
23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
Abasajja ba Amoni n’aba Mowaabu ne bagolokokera ku basajja ab’oku Lusozi Seyiri ne babazikiriza, era bwe baamala okubazikiriza, ne bakyukiragana ne battiŋŋana.
24 And when Judah came to the watch-tower of the wilderness, they looked upon the multitude; and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and there were none that escaped.
Awo abasajja aba Yuda bwe baatuuka ku munaala ogw’eddungu, ne batunuulira eggye eddene, laba nga bonna mirambo egigudde, nga tewaliwo n’omu eyawonyeewo.
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in taking of the spoil, it was so much.
Yekosafaati n’abantu be bwe bajja okutwala omunyago, basangawo ebintu bingi n’engoye nnyingi, n’eby’obugagga bingi, okusinga n’ebyo bye baali basobola okwetikka. Baamala ennaku ssatu nga babisomba, olw’obungi bwabyo.
26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah, unto this day.
Ku lunaku olwokuna ne bakuŋŋaanira mu kiwonvu ekya Beraka, okutendereza Mukama, kyekyava kituumibwa Ekiwonvu kya Beraka, ne leero.
27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
Oluvannyuma, buli musajja wa Yuda n’owa Yerusaalemi, nga bakulemberwamu Yekosafaati, ne baddayo e Yerusaalemi nga basanyuse, kubanga Mukama yali abawadde essanyu olw’okuwangula abalabe baabwe.
28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.
Ne bayingira Yerusaalemi, ne bagenda mu yeekaalu ya Mukama nga bakutte entongooli, n’ennanga, n’amakondeere.
29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.
Entiisa ya Mukama n’ejja ku bwakabaka bwonna obw’omu mawanga, bwe baawulira nga Mukama yalwana n’abalabe ba Isirayiri.
30 So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.
Era obwakabaka bwa Yekosafaati ne buba n’emirembe, kubanga Katonda we yamuwa emirembe enjuuyi zonna.
31 And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
Yekosafaati n’afuga Yuda. Yalina emyaka amakumi asatu mu etaano we yafuukira kabaka wa Yuda, era n’afugira emyaka amakumi abiri mu etaano mu Yerusaalemi, ne nnyina erinnya lye nga ye Azuba muwala wa Siruki.
32 And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD.
N’atambulira mu kkubo lya Asa kitaawe, n’atalivaamu, era n’akola ebyali ebirungi mu maaso ga Mukama.
33 Howbeit the high places were not taken away; neither as yet had the people set their hearts unto the God of their fathers.
Naye ebifo ebigulumivu teyabiggyaawo, so n’abantu ne bataweerayo ddala mitima gyabwe eri Katonda wa bajjajjaabwe.
34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.
Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyaliwo mu mulembe gwa Yekosafaati, okuva ku ntandikwa ye okutuusa ku nkomerero ye, byawandiikibwa mu bitabo bya Yeeku mutabani wa Kanani, era biri ne mu kitabo ekya bassekabaka ba Isirayiri.
35 And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel; the same did very wickedly:
Bwe waayitawo ebbanga, Yekosafaati kabaka wa Yuda n’akola endagaano ne Akaziya kabaka wa Isirayiri, omukozi w’ebibi.
36 and he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Ezion-geber.
N’ateesa naye okuzimba ebyombo ebyamaguzi biseeyeeyenga okugenda e Talusiisi, era ne babizimbira mu Eziyonigeba.
37 Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath destroyed thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
Mu kiseera ekyo Eryeza mutabani wa Dodavaku ow’e Malesa n’ayogera ebyobunnabbi eri Yekosafaati ng’agamba nti, “Kubanga okoze endagaano ne Akaziya, n’omwegattako, Mukama alizikiriza by’okoze.” Era ebyombo ne bimenyekamenyeka, ne bitasobola kugenda Talusiisi.
